I lost my father when I was 8 years old, he had cancer and was in a rehabilitation center.The last time I saw him was the night I went to see TItanic in theaters, we came home and found that he fell and the tv was knocked over and broken, and then he went into rehab.About 6 months later, he died.It was hard, he wasn't there for when I went through surgery as a kid, he wasn't there for my high school graduation; and he won't be there if I ever get married, my sisters got married with out our daddy.And I'm trying not to cry while typing this.

My gramps. It's been a while.. and when the family gets together.. he's just not there now. Miss him lots.

As someone on this thread already mentioned, I really admire your strength to still be functional after such a tough year. hugs

Not this year, but my paternal grandfather passed away a couple of years ago. It was so sudden--one minute, he was still able to walk miles outside by himself and the next, he had multi-organ failure in the ICU. I personally wasn't super close with him (we have a pretty big extended family), but it absolutely broke my heart to see my dad crying about it (which in turn made me sob like a baby, too).

I totally understand you. I lost my dad four months ago... it's really hard for me, he was only 54. When I think about him I wanna cry. He was really good and helpful person... and awesome dad, I don't know what to say...

Thank you for the win and to all of you that shared. I realize I am not alone in my grief and missing my beloved.As a wise person said to me very recently "Sometimes it is easier to share in this virtual world" . I am thankful for this virtual world tonight as I haven't even heard from my family,kids,grandkids. I know I am far away, perhaps my sadness is just too much for them. Thank you all for "being there"
