No don't feel bad, I wanted to be able to discuss posts too, but it got immediately derailed with, what I feel like, is having to justify the thread! But reposting updates is a big project so it was going to experience growing pains either way.
I am thinking, this thread could stay up as "updates discussion" and I could make another one JUST for reposting Keith updates. I've seen threads like that work on Flight Rising pretty well, and that lets people subscribe to just the "news" thread without getting a notification for every comment. And have a designated space for going "oh wow" because we really don't have a place to do that right now, and I'd like one.
Having one place for convenient updates is the dream. x) Unfortunately even the discord doesn't have that. It's just update posts in the "general chat" server, which also has lots of people generally chatting, as it turns out, lol.
This idea is great, thank you. (even if I can't see the images because imgur content is blocked in my region :'D I shall stay uninformed lol)
no worries, you do not have to stay uninformed! We post transcripts underneath everything for those who canβt view images, or use things like screen readers. ;u; whatever is posted underneath the screenshot is exactly what the screenshot contains.
Hellooooo everybody, after eating a sandwhich, making a new HA, and asking some opinions, I've made a new thread for posting the updates themselves.
The discord update screenshots are now on a separate thread!
Please post all new update screenshots to the new thread! Thank you!
This thread will remain the discussion thread. Feel free to express opinion, ask questions, and give feedback about the discord posts here. If you want a little sidebar event for new discord updates, go subscribe to the other thread. :)
Is this for real? I hate Kumos. The layout sucks and I can't find shit on there
I also don't like the layout over there. I really enjoy the legacy site. I hope they can at least give more layout options to more closely mimic the legacy site :c
It also just seems slower on kumos, and less of a "clean" feeling if that makes sense.

Thank you so much for both this and the screenshot topics!
I'm one of the people who got quite frustrated that Subeta things were being discussed or updated on Discord, while people playing Subeta were left in the dark. I work fulltime, I just want to enjoy Subeta and not endlessy search another site to actually know what's going on with Subeta.
Also, the updates mentioned give me mixed feelings. On the one hand, a lot of my frustration with the status of Subeta is gone because (for the first time really) I see the dedication of Keith towards (keeping/saving) Subeta, on the other hand, I'm getting quite scared of the move to Kumos. I like Subeta because of Subeta, that's why I'm here as a paying player for almost 19 years. But I get there's no other option. I just hope everything we love will be able to get transferred over in time.
</p>Keith:"Weβve got months until the version of php that runs the legacy subeta is no longer supported."
<p>That seems like it should DEFINITELY BE IN THE NEWS ANNOUNCEMENTS!!

I can't even find the 'Quests' button and have to rely on the Event to pop up.
I can't find the quests section either. I have to click on the header to get the quests button.
I'm also made nervous by hearing that the legacy site might go down. I struggle so badly to use Kumos. Like...it's unplayable? I don't know how people can even navigate it?? The links and/or buttons dont work whenever I attempt the site, and the last time I was on it, all the images and the text are stacked on top of each other?? I'm not commenting on its appearance, but rather it's functionality, to be clear. I don't want subeta to go away for me :c
Edit: I understand the need to make new coding foundation, but I kinda wish the site could still physically look like legacy since all the text and images are separated and not overlapping on this layout, and the links work on this one
I love Subeta, and I wouldn't even know what to do with my time if it wasn't here, but Kumos is unplayable in many ways.
While I would love to use Kumos, and have previously, there's clearly been some sort of change in the past few months I haven't used it. Any time I open it now, it wants to use as much as my computer's GPU as possible, putting me at 100% usage and slowing down my computer IMMENSELY to the point where I can barely scroll the page and if I do manage to do my quests on there (I have been opting not to for a while because of this) I have to restart my computer afterward because firefox won't stop lagging and crashing.
Like... is this normal? Is it just me? Is there anything I can do on my end to limit kumos' GPU usage?
I hate to hear that legacy is on its deathbed, because trying to use kumos puts my computer on its deathbed...
And since apparently Keith likely won't see this, can someone tell him in the discord that kumos makes my computer crawl?! It wasn't like this before!!! Windows 10, Firefox 143.0.4 (64-bit)
Have you tried again recently (like, in the last few days?) - I've made some changes to the way the layout in general loads, that I think might have addressed this. If you're getting it today I'll take another look!

Unfortunately yes, I opened it a couple times before I submitted my post just then, just to make sure, and watched my task manager as I did so. Immediate spike to 100% GPU usage and very slow.
I play 100% on my phone, is there a way to make it less bumpy for mobile users that Iβm not seeing? I absolutely get things need changing I was just wondering if there was an option. I donβt have access to a laptop or pc at the moment though. I canβt find anything on kumos other than the beta stuff for quests and contests and things that link directly from the legacy site. I actually found this thread by looking in staff forum posts for the link to the beta fishing.

Just my two cents as a regular person and not a staff member.
For me, Subeta stopped being about the events, avatars, quests, pets, battle a long time ago. I keep coming back for the people, the community. Over the years this site has been a safe haven for a lot of people, and I appreciate how inclusive and kind people are to one another. Many gaming communities are very toxic, and I appreciate how welcoming and friendly most players are here.
I think one of the saddest moments I had here was when and passed away. One of the happiest moments I had here was when a player told me three generations of their family came here to play together. Over time, Subeta stopped being about the events or the plots, but the people who came here and shared those moments together.
A lot of times there will be bugs and glitches, and I wish I could fix those instantly, but don't have the ability to do so. Like if you see someone with a medical emergency, if you're not a doctor, you can't help even if you wanted to. I hope in times like those, people will be more considerate and understanding because sometimes things take time to fix, it's not fast nor is it something a bandaid can fix.

Yo Keith has said he has no problem with screenshotting discord, he's just adding context. It means he posts differently in discord compared to on official Subeta, at least from his point of view.
That's very relevant to take into consideration, because it means that what he's posting in discord is more like a live conversation and ongoing thoughts, as opposed to an official update, announcement or decision.
I will say that it felt a bit weird for me reading discord posts with a designated thread on a forum (as opposed to being an in context answer to a specific thread or issue). I've always used Discord to chat with friends while playing games, and I think I'd personally feel uncomfortable if my chats were screenshotted and posted. Yes, I'd want what I'm saying to be known to the people in the chat, but not necessarily posted to a wider group or posted without context. Emphasis that this is me personally, Keith has said he's ok with it. However, I still felt a bit weird. I understand intentions are to keep others updated, it just wouldnt work for me.
I only recently joined the discord because I was more interested in having a running conversation with other members! I've been a member of Subeta for just over a year, and from my point of view the site is an absolute gem. The fact that there are regular updates posted at all, there are placed for people to interact with each other, regular events - that's huge. I'm so grateful for that.
From reading the forum and discord, I understand people are frustrated about a lack of communication. I get that it's frustrating when expectations don't meet up with the reality - like you want more communication, but someone doesn't have time / energy / money/ WHATEVER to do it in the way that you prefer. We are also living in uncertain times.
I really liked 's perspective - keeping in mind that this is a niche community. It resonated with me and my expectations about the site.
I found an official page (https://kumos.subeta.net/kumos) which has an expected project timeline for migrating legacy content to Kumos, as well as other information about the site update.
