yeah -- it's one of the weird quirks of the system we're using here. the reaction can't come in from one of the "generated" responses, but can for what you put in, or if you refresh they've all got them.

it's why if you navigate around for long enough the hovers break until you refresh. it's on my list of very annoying bugs to work through.

this might just be the luck of being a similar age to you guys, but the way the site has aged along with me feels so nice. like I say I liked PekaBoo but the reality is if it were happening now I probably wouldn't have time to participate much anyway. I love that right now it's a chiller pace, with access to old things being prioritized alongside the more relaxed volume of new things (and all the work toward longevity and structural integrity)

the play system i was talking about before has a battle scene! so, while you're in the ice fields you can get challenged directly. maybe winning helps your chances or gives you an item that gets you through further (but doesn't stop someone w/o a battle pet from moving forward, just an advantage)

omg I'm sure I played in the restock wars back in the day (like back back) but having only come back this year I've only really experienced the pirate shop event. that was ROUGH, even at the end when people weren't stalking the shop there was still no chance to buy anything.

What do the item outline colours mean when you see the pool of Mysterious Melody prizes? I know the ones with the extra blue outline are what you got, but I saw some pink, purple, yellow and softer blue and couldn't tell why or how they were grouping.

honestly, nothing. i wanted them to be a cool signifier of rarity or what kind of item they were, but instead I think they're just confusing (and not detailed anywhere). not sure what to do about it / will probably remove it. That's the standard <item> component, which is what we use all over the site. Clicking the item takes you to it's details page

Not really a big question but is there going to be a new pet and when? impatiently waiting for a new cephalopod pet

i do not believe i will be doing that -- but i do want to have a more repeatable and understandable pattern of increasing the stat cap. having a year where the cap gets raised, we have new opponents that can take advantage of it in some way, maybe come with other changes at the same time. people battle for a year in that 'system'. we make announcements on what the next 'system' is, with stat cap increase and all of the other changes.

i think games that last for a long time do that not only to keep it fresh, but because balancing is a really hard game. we've mostly dropped that ball because it's one beautiful person managing the entire system as a side side gig, which means no one is really paying attnetion to items released 15 years ago or how to make anything relevant.

so we'll see :P

Shoot, we have a stat cap increase, means we get opponents reset every time! xD I've just finally managed to get to a point of being caught up on the last reset.
