My hubby said I can't get another till I save up and buy a litter robot lol. I find it very interesting you can play this with a screen reader, more power to you awesome how technology has evolved. Tell hubby you could trip over him, does that mean I need to get rid of you? LOL. I would recommend getting an older cat not a kitten. The 3 years or older can handle so much more. Because you are blind it should not at all limit you to the things you CAN do .

I wouldn't get an automated litter box for many reasons as well as not being able to monitor the health of your cats as you cannot see or access the litter. Also if they have stool issues cleaning one out would be a nightmare to disassemble.

I also disagree with your hubby on the no cat part, they are very observant and their reflexes are insane. I do agree with mom about one that is older, they'll be more receptive to you and catch on quicker without distractions of a kitten.

Yeah, birds are an extra handful especially when one (aka Mobius) loves to explore and doesn't understand the concept of danger. Luckily he never escaped.

- That's why I try to have them write down or record their recollections whenever I can. My dad is currently going through a stack of letters and recordings he has from when he was in Vietnam as a Marine. I can't wait to get my hands on them so I can learn more of his personal history. :) It may help you to do the same with your Gran. Talk to her and record her recollections. That way you'll have it for posterity. :)

and - omg, my hubby is 6ft and 200+lbs... can you imagine me getting a cat that big? 😂 😆 😂 I completely understand what you're saying and I agree except for one small thing, I have really bad balance issues and hubby is afraid that one day, when I'm not using my walker, that the cat will run between my legs and I'll end up on the floor having broken something again. So, I'm on the fence. I would really like one (kitten or cat) but don't want to end up back in the hospital with a broken hip this time. And, Mom, I do agree with you, I shouldn't be limited by my blindness in regards to the things I can do. But, I am. I'm not allowed to cook or bake because my family is afraid I'd burn the house down. I'm also not allowed to drive. That last one really gets me. I swear I could drive just as well if not better then any of them but they won't let me prove it. Spoil Sports. ;)

Oh well I do see that point a little, but I still think a cat's reflexes would keep that from happening. But I understand both sides, my pets complete me though so I'd be hard pressed to be without one.

The nasal doctor visit is a yearly check up for chronic condition. The air here is too dry so I get nose bleeds and lots of swelling from environmental and seasonal allergies. I got my meds reupped so it went well. I am disabled with migraines and chronic fatigue anxiety depression blah blah. Blah. My mom and I take care of each other.

Loralea. She is a rescue, but they thought a mini rex mix. This was her second Christmas with us.

I wish I could super stealth like that.

- My hubby is like that. I didn't believe such a big guy could be so quiet on his feet but he is and has the punches from me to prove it. Sorry, but I'm one that lashes out when startled and I've punched him numerous times for scaring me. 😂

- Yeah, it's a conundrum but I keep asking for a cat. The last time I asked for one he got me a cat plushie. :/ 😆

how did your holidays go?? i am vicariously living through everyone else because my family is not super close. we dont get together for holidays. although my job doesnt really make it the easiest either. new years is usually the only one i care to really get off of work.

Ha, we don't do things right like most people do. I used to have good "normal" family things. Sometimes I miss the "old days" when there were more planned out things and generations around the table.

I got all mixed up with Christmas being on Wednesday, so that ruined a lot for me.

You just do what is best for yourself and what works, an older one prob would not trip you, it would prob lay around all the time and let you pet it. I totally understand about you being on the fence. I'm glad your hubby is looking out for you. Driving I am in complete agreement about LOL. Just make the best of what you can do, limitations are difficult to handle. All we can do is the best we can.
