I love me some sci-fi, comedies/rom-coms, and horror movies!
I'm a big fan of the Conjuring movies and I love the 2009 Star Trek movie series! I highly recommend them all!
That's cool! I like that you've continued even though they are now making "official" ones.
You're welcome to tell me a bit more about the behaviors either here or in DMs, I'm happy to see if I can offer any guidance or support!
UGH I hate when shows get cancelled before completing the seasons-long story arc. Like, at least give us one season to complete the story even rushed. Mind Hunter did that to me and it was one of the best shows, I was so bummed to find out it was over with no ending.
I think the Conjuring movies may be too much for me lol. I forget sometimes how much I enjoy rom-coms and comedies! They can be so uplifting or just fun, and sometimes that's exactly what you need!
My partner and I were just having a talk about what kind of "horror" movies we're more sensitive to. For him it's anything supernatural - something beyond human that has capabilities we as humans would be defenseless against. While I feel that way too, it's actually people ones that make me more stressed or scared. It's "too real" when a person unrelated to the victims is the "monster", too "possible". Having five dogs helps the nerves though, because no one is getting close to the house without us having a heads up!
I'm the same way as you! Supernatural stuff is generally fine for me because I don't particularly believe in ghosts or demons or anything like that, but the horror movies about real people doing terrifying things shake me up. Like Midsommar messed me up for WEEKS after I saw it. It was just SO intense.
Been a busy time. Not really just the day is done before I realize. Sigh. Was doing a quest a thon and missed the last three days.
Yeah, gore is not for me. Just ick. Zombies are a problem for me, but I watched over 1 season of izombie and collect the skins on here though there are some I just won’t.
I love Star Trek. Mom and I are rewatching ds9, too. We are also watching Star Trek prodigy.
so glad the vet can help.
Thanks. Didn't make sense to stop after all the work I had already gone through :)
I'll message you later. Memory permitting :)
Mindhunter had such a cliffhanger too. ARG! Also Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles ended on one hell of a cliffhanger. I need a third season YESTERDAY!
there has been a paper tral for ages. And they need good grounds to remove him... darn laws... It's insane with how much he/people can get away with before they are removed..
Oh SVU my favorite show! Love Olivia. I like way to much tv shows.
Oh Izombie.... that was a good show... however i did not like the last season..
yeah some people can get away with murder before people take actions...
We are all worried now...
Hi everyone. I HATE movies or TV shows about real people doing terrible things to other people, esp children, and animals too, because that is not only possible to happen to me or someone I care about, but likely at some time. Add fanatics and it just goes to the next level. It's horrible and scary and all those people really just need to disintegrate and go to Hell wherever they are. (Yes, I know that makes me sound like a fanatic... but I don't care.) Give me supernatural any time! Ooh The Conjuring series was great. But others, like The Grudge and the first Jeepers Creepers still gives me the creeps and I won't watch them again. And in The Ring when the girl crawls out of the TV just makes me shiver. But in The Ring 2 when all the water in the bath tub goes up to the ceiling it is just awesome. lol
I loved all the Star Trek TV shows that I watched. And The Wrath of Khan and The Voyage Home are still my favorite movies, although the last 4 with Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto almost edge them out. So good! I loved every Star Wars movie and TV series and want more.
Yeah I forgot that. I didn't really care for it either. But I loved the finale. I love happy endings. I thought it was really rushed but glad they took the time to make an actual end. It's completely different, but I loved Rizzoli and Isles too. The whole series, and they ended it beautifully. So many just cut off with no epilog or real ending. It's just frustrating.
The Grudge series scares me half to death. No matter how poorly made they are. I don't know why. Maybe it's the fact it paints the home, usually a place of safety, as the worst hell you could ever think of.
I do like things that truly terrify me like that. So I like the series but...wow does it make me feel levels of horror I wouldn't think possible.
Jeepers Creepers is a good creature feature. If it wasn't for the director (of the first two films) being a pedophile, I'd recommend it to more people.
I do like true crime. It's like the documentary style makes things bearable.
Yeah, documentary true crime is good. Still awful. I hate the ones they show that was never solved tho. I want it clear and the monster in jail or preferably dead. But crap like The Purge series is horrible and I just can't watch it. I did like a lot of episodes of Criminal Minds. They were well made. But I really had to stop watching it. The content is just too much and too real.
I hate that for you!
you do mean the series Supernatural right?!?
Read that again.
Go Bills!
Oof, I could not watch Midsommar. I like knowing what happens, because I appreciate a good story itself so I tend to read the plot of movies I know I can't watch lol. Sometimes even that is enough to give me the ick for a bit, when it's an especially cruel movie with no good twist or point. But generally I'm like "oh interesting! (still will never watch)" xD
Before recently, I had only watched TOS because I grew up with it. (My dad loved it). Now that I've started watching other series I'm finally getting to know the whole "world" of Star Trek and it's so cool. I think TOS will always be special because it's what I grew up with, but SNW I think is "my" Star Trek. Kinda like how with Dr. Who I grew up with Tom Baker so as much as I enjoy other Doctors he will always be "the" Doctor to me.
No pressure or rush, but happy to help! I'm still sour about Mind Hunter lol. Everyone once in a while there's a rumor of it coming back and I'm like - pleeease. There are shows that are just so good, and shouldn't have been cancelled - those ones are a bummer. The ones that have a cliffhanger are a whole different kind of sad though for sure. Just this year I watched the Divergent movies for the first time in years (I had never seen some of them but read the books when I was younger) and was shocked to find they never made the second half of the last movie (it was split into two films).
What?! I can't believe it. It's shocking when it takes so little to be unfair to good people in some situations and then takes a wild amount to bring accountability to those acting poorly. Ahh yes, Olivia Benson is one of my all time favorites! That show is just too good, I still enjoy rewatching older episodes and can't wait to keep up with the evolving plot (though it can get a little confusing having to jump between shows now to not miss things).
Oh yes, "happy" movies where an animal passes are already generally a no for me. I just hate it. Scary movie or something where an animal gets hurt, hard pass! I remember watching the original Ring! Thankfully we were a group of pre-teens watching it in the morning after a sleepover so a lot of spookiness was neutralized lol. Still gave me the heebies for a bit though. I am down for more and more Star Wars and Star Trek! I know people have had complaints, but I have enjoyed seeing Star Wars expand under Favreau and Filoni! Pretty much anything Filoni does is SO good, very well thought out. I personally enjoyed and appreciated parts / elements of the newer trilogy but wish they had let it be its own thing. It didn't really do right by me as far as being a completion of the story. Filoni is such a fanboy who cares deeply about the lore and what has come before, so he has a lot of respect and you can see it in his work. He also did ATLA which I loved! I liked Criminal Minds too! I think the documentaries are easier to watch but sometimes it's too much at once unless it's like a spouse to spouse thing or family. Because those I'm not worried about happening to me lol.
I can understand not liking the violence of The Purge series. But at least, after the first one, there is a clear message so it isn't just senseless killings. Basically it's about how the government uses Purge Nights to get rid of those they consider unwanted. By the final movie (so far) the Purge has made the US unlivable.
Will say the Purge prequel is just...barely watchable. At least the first movie had Lena Headey.
At least you don't have that scarred into your memory XD
I do prefer the mystery being solved in true crime. Is really eerie when it isn't.
Currently watching the latest Godzilla x Kong movie. It is fun so far :)
Midsommar is one of my favorites. Leagues better than Hereditary.
There are some movies I probably wouldn't have watched without looking up detailed summaries or watching detailed reviews. The Woman (2011) and Martyrs (2008) among them. Eden Lake (2008) was still hard to watch even with spoilers.
After they messed up the second book I gave up on those movies. The Hollywood thing of splitting the final book into two messed up the movies. I'm really glad I jumped ship when I did or that would've been another cliffhanger to bug me.
Oh I loved that series! But I meant the supernatural genre. Ghosts etc. Oh that was a great series - Ghosts. Loved it. The wife sees all the ghosts living in their bed & breakfast but the husband does not. :)
The Bad Batch was my favorite Filoni series. I read they were doing a 4th season and it would be the last, but so far haven't seen anything and some say the 3rd season was the last. Do you know?
Yep glad that's not scarred into my memory. But its weird because I actually have all of the Saw series except for Spiral and for some reason liked most of them... They were gross and awful, but they did have a message. The first was still the best I think. Did you ever see Stay Alive? I love that movie. Have to watch it again every once in awhile. That vibration sound of the mouse gives me chills.
Howdy all. waves to all
Mom is having medical issues so been anxious and it makes it difficult (or more difficult) to focus or to really care about much else. Still working on that. Taken a step back on my weight loss, falling back into old habits. So working on that as well but struggling a bit. I know I can do it. It's just proving a bit hard atm.
Baker is my doctor as well. He will always be my favorite. I'm not super interested in movies or tv atm, but I really like older movies. Things like The Thin Man (all of the series of films), the Dr. Gillespie(Dr. Killdare) movies, The Women, Now Voyager, Stage Door and so many others. Love movie musicals. For tv I watch a lot of british stuff now (Agatha Christie's Poirot, Miss Marple, Midsummer Murders, Death in Paradise, Mrs. Browns Boys, and a lot I watched growing up). I watch a lot of the Drag Race franchises when I can afford to sub to Paramount, though I mostly watch reruns on free streaming. Also enjoy the shows from my childhood. I tend to put on Scooby Doo for stress free tv (free on Tubi). Used to watch all the Star Treks and other sci fi similar shows. Also "procedural" shows like the CSIs. Don't right now.
I watch a lot of youtube. I follow former scientologists and I follow several lawyers so I often have videos or streams from one of those groups running when I am on the computer.
My mom watches all those murder shows . They stress me so I rarely watch with her. I'm okay with historical ones though. Reading a book right now about the Jack the Ripper victims (well, the suspected ones) which is super interesting finding out more about the women's lives.
Hey Good to see you.

The one series I'll never be able to watch is Child's Play. But I'm able to watch WAY more intense movies than that for some reason. I remember I had nightmares about one of the posters when I was a kid so that might be it.
Was not a horrorhound at all when younger.
I've seen Stay Alive. Is a fun movie :)
I really like movies with twists that I can't guess - Identity, The Prestige. I don't even watch The Purge commercials xD
Ohhh yes, Bad Batch was so good. People are missing out if they haven't watched Clone Wars and Rebels. Took me a bit to get into them but once it clicked I was 100% in. I don't know if there's another season coming. I asked my hubby who usually knows and he said he has no idea, but wouldn't be surprised if there's more because Star Wars seems kinda up in the air as far as what Disney is going to be doing next. Seems like they're sorting out plans in a way.
It's so hard to keep building new things or stay on top of challenges when we're struggling or our resources are all pulled to something else! Be gentle with yourself. Sometimes the healing that comes from that is what helps us succeed with our other goals. I'm sorry your mother is sick. You may like Broad Church if you haven't seen it! It's a British crime / mystery type. I enjoy older movies too, but often forget about them (whoops). Usually I think about them around holidays.
Oh gross! NO Child's Play! No Chucky ever again! My friend dragged me to it and it was awful. I hated it. I don't like any movies with dolls or puppets. Ugh. They scare me. Gotta say tho Dead Silence and Anabelle were both good, but oooh they creeped me out for days. Esp Dead Silence with a hundred of them all turning together in their little niches to stare at the people... OMG...
Clone Wars and Rebels were both excellent! I just liked Bad Batch the best. :)
Best wishes to your Mom and to you too. <3 Hugs Agatha Christie and Miss Marple take me back. I loved the books and the TV shows/movies too. I used to love watching Are You Being Served? That was so funny I was always laughing. I love Drag Race! Where do you find the newer stuff streaming free? I can't afford Paramount, and even when I checked into it awhile back, it said charge for the channel AND charge for all the Drag Race episodes. Ridiculous. I miss it.
i loved that series! They did amazing with the fianl epi. I bawled like a baby!
Hello love long time no see! Sorry your mom is struggling. It’s always such a challenge. I am at a standstill or stale mate with my diet. The medication I took to help gives me awful mood swings…not sure what to do..
oh gosh no! I was traumatized by chucky at 4. I absolutely CANNOT with dolls! Yikes!
Read that again.
Go Bills!
OMG NO child should ever see any horror movie, much less that one! My son and I went to the theater years ago to see one of the Saw movies (he was a teenager) and would you believe there were actually three adults with four kids ranging from about 3 to 10 in there? I nearly called Child Protective Services on them. There was no bloody excuse for that. Those poor kids were screaming and crying for real and hiding behind the seats. And the adults didn't pay them any attention at all! Not only was it monstrous child abuse in my eyes, it also made it so that everyone else in the audience couldn't even enjoy the movie. I don't care what they say, NO child under 14 should be allowed in an R rated movie even with their poor excuse for parents' permission. And NO babies ever. I don't care if its G rated. I hated spending so much money and not being able to watch the movie because of all the crying. Humpf. My kids never went until they were at least 4 or 5, when they could understand it, and that was to a Disney movie.
❤ I've seen Broad Church. Never got to see the sequel. Want to see Good Omens too. I love David Tennant.
We have Britbox so I still get to watch Are You Being Served. The local pbs showed it here for decades at 7pm weekdays. Really missed it when they stopped. I have a roku streaming stick and the Roku Channel app has a Drag Race Universe Channel. I believe Tubi also carries the live channel. Both also have some on demand but fewer I think than if you have time to catch the live channel. They don't show the US versions, but they show many of the global ones. Down Under (seasons 1-3), UK (2-5), Canada (2-4), The first seasons of Canada vs the world and UK vs the world, Belgium, France and Holland. They used to do the Phillipines but I've not seen that in a long while. I only ever get to see the regular US seasons that air on MTv. I did get paramount once for a bit. It's just a lot to switch streaming services. And prices keep increasting. Some day I'll splurge for a month or two and then binge all the seasons I've missed. I follow fans on youtube so I get to see a lot of the runway outfits and see what happens there. Pluto tv has the a Logo tv channel as part of it's live channels and it does show a few US seasons. On demand they have seasons 1 and 2. I'm pretty sure I've seen seasons 4 and 5 on the live channel. I think World of Wonder (who owns Drag Race) keeps a tight rein on the US franchise.
So far done my weight loss without medication. I am concerned about taking a medication both for a possible reaction to the medication and also the long term cost. Sorry it affected you that way and I really hope you can find something else that works without a reaction. And wow, 4 is way too young for a movie like that.
