Oh…I’m here…just living the dream. Nothing big really.. About to be down some folks at work so planning on being drained out. Never want to rush time, but I am ready for fall.

I don't want to rush time, but I would LOVE to rearrange and change a few things! I was talking to a friend about this very thing. Excerpt:

I do like Spring. I like the rain and the flowers blooming and when it gets green. But I love Fall and I live in Texas so our winters are mild. For the most part I like that. My favorite temps are 60's and 40's, which is most of the winter. October hurry up! I always wish we could have June and July (only) be summer, and autumn actually start in August and carry through until November, and winter start after that. Never know when or if we will have Fall here. Sometimes it just skips it or its so rainy all the colors are muddy and hardly change. But sometimes it can be really nice. I love Fall colors everywhere and the wonderful chilly temps. I would love more snow in the winter. If we're lucky we might get a few flurries. If we're really lucky, it might actually snow and stick for a few days. It would be great to have that repeated a few times. I just don't want snow to pile up for a month and have to deal with that. I'm picky! lol But when it happens that the winter is not cold enough for long enough, the bugs are awful spring and summer and will try and carry you off. OMG I despise bugs... we're having a horrible problem this year with flies and gnats. Last year was awful too.

But summer - no. I HATE the (insert heartfelt strong colorful metaphor here) heat. It's normal for this time of year but every year I hate it and if I can't selfishly control it lol I just wish I could take off for a second home somewhere a LOT cooler through summer and fall... but alas not for me. My brother just got back from a vacation with a friend in Colorado. So jealous! Oh well. Staying indoors as much as possible. Just step outside in the furnace heat tho and it sucks the breath right out of you. Bleh! We are excited for a cold front that keeps it in the 90's or (gasp! I wish. I SO wish) that it drops to the 80's. Usually we're 100+. Add humidity and its really life threatening. I've had heat exhaustion three times that sent me to an ER, and once it was so bad it almost went to a heat stroke. They told me now I'm seriously prone to it and must be very careful.

i love this! Its not quite the same over here in Tennessee but pretty dang close.

I do love the summer and spring but the insufferable humidity is just no fun, it makes you just so uncomfortable you can’t enjoy anything.

I am against winter as well, we don’t get snow but for a dusting and usually it is freezing rain and just ice so that’s dangerous and miserable…

Are you from Texas? Im originally from Wisconsin and there was too much cold/ snow so that was no good too. LOL

Oh yes, Texas born and raised. I never lived any where else, tho I was seriously tempted to move to a cooler place. I just couldn't stand being away from my family. :) Wisconsin was one place I always wanted to visit. My friend said she never saw a sky so blue and she loved the forests and lakes. I think she went to Castle Rock Lake and Lake Superior. Idk for sure tho. I've been to Tennessee. Really pretty with the trees. My friend's mother lived in Madison, just outside of Nashville. She got a lot of snow. I was always jealous. lol But she got our ice too, and that was bad.

just curious. Aside from the short lived fall and winter, the colors of the trees and the beautiful sky are similar here IMO. Northern Wisconsin way up there is different though less city and people.

I want snow the week of Christmas and a ton Christmas eve and Christmas day but for it to all melt after. I don’t care for it otherwise.

Mom and I went to a comic arts festival with all the nerd stuff I love. At forty I am letting my nerd flag fly free. Mom is even thinking up an original character, ranger, to cosplay. I am working on an autumn colors Druid class gnome. Got my sketch done.

It was nice out today with a breeze and no major smoke. I didn’t like when it was over 100. 70s now.

I like good stories in movies. Lovely animation can draw me in easily. Mysteries, fairy tales, kids stuff, fantasy. Favorite movies are things like The Dark Crystal, Coraline, Belle. Agatha Christie things. Disney things. You know.

Science fiction, fantasy, and horror.

Currently playing yet another run of the game Disco Elysium. Also playing Skyrim (found out the hard way I can't play that casually), Stardew Valley, and the Mass Effect trilogy.

Once I finish Disco Elysium I will be starting Alan Wake. Know a lot of the lore of the series but have never played any game in it. Minus Control.

Currently reading Dune Messiah. Forgot about the major incest plot somehow. Though, in fairness, last time I read it was in high school.

Also enjoy writing both original and fanfiction.

I'm so sorry that we live in a world where you are so unsafe just being authentically you. ❤️ Praying and trying to do my part to create change. You, and everyone, deserve safety and joy.

Haha yeah, he knows a lot about a lot, so it can be really cool because I learn from him and it can draw me more into some of the things we watch since I better understand them.

My version is really just animal facts when we go to the zoo. One time my best friend came to visit and we went to the zoo I worked at at the time. I was sharing fun facts with her about the individual animals and the species in general and all of a sudden we realized a small blob of 5 - 10 people had started to form around us and was moving habitat to habitat with us LOL.

I've been on the site for over 17 years and just now finally joined the group xD Between this group and my pet group it's been very enriching to my site experience, connections with others really matter!

Ohhh, so many good movies / shows named! Lord of the Rings / The Hobbit are some of my very top, and some of my comfort movies. Princess Mononoke as well, with Homeward Bound and Elf being others that I am attached to. Bob's Burgers is my comfort show on TV. I am also a huge Star Wars fan and have been getting back into Star Trek. Rogue One is one of my secondary movies (like just outside my favorite favorites, but one I watch semi-often and just really like). Jurassic Park and Lion King are in this group too, along with the Poirot movies and the Robert Langdon movies. No surprise then that I also really like the Glass Onion / Knives Out films and Harlan Coban shows. When I was growing up our family tradition at New Years was to watch the original Star Wars trilogy and have rootbeer floats at midnight. My partner and I have been watching Star Trek Discovery and DS9, and now Strange New Worlds. I am in love with SNW, it's so well done! No judgement! I totally seasonally watch the Twilight movies. A good rainy weekend totally makes me nostalgic for it! It is so hard to choose, there are SO many amazing movies!

Oh that sounds so fun! I'm so glad you feel free to enjoy "nerdy" things! (They're the best things imo). Love your sketch, can't wait to see the end products of your cosplays! Visuals are so powerful as far as storytelling and creating emotion, I completely agree about animation! Fairy Tales, myths, mysteries, and magic are absolutely themes I fall towards both in reading and movies. I attribute a lot of my interest in mystery type / puzzle type things to my love for brain puzzles and for my Dad encouraging that kind of curiosity. I remember when we were young we watched Ten Little Indians and before the end my dad paused it and asked us if we could figure out who the culprit was. We didn't get it right lol, but it was so cool to have my dad encourage us to truly invest in the movie like that!

With the paper trail now (with the officials and with housing) hopefully anything else would result in quick movement. But hopefully they are the kind of person who bullies but can't take it and immediately backs down when faced with real consequences!

I don't like gory movies either! I'm not a big horror / overly suspenseful / gory movie person. I've been watching a bit more of that genera with my partner since he likes Halloween themes and some horror stuff (nothing too intense though). I do enjoy "true crime" shows but only to a certain extent. I love SVU though, one of my favorite shows.

Animal facts are awesome. Between writing my own things and reading Animorphs and owning birds, I've come across some interesting facts.

I probably would've been following you at the zoo XD

I like all forms of horror. From graphic to tame ones. As long as they're done well. Or so bad they're good.

Oh man, Animorphs! I remember the books and show, so good! What kind of birds do / have you had?! I love birds!

Oh no, I'm too much of a "wimp" for most horror stuff lol. I do get desensitized when I watch a few things (as long as they're not too much for me) but IDK that I'll ever be one for the more intense part of the spectrum. The summer 300 came out I watched it so many times, but now that it's been so long the graphic violence makes me squirm or cover my eyes lol. We watched Silence of the Lambs recently though and that was okay! I had never seen it.

I'm doing an Animorphs dramatic reading. Had to slow down when I got vertigo. But I still manage to get new videos out now and again. Just got the graphic novel adaptation of the fifth book today. So I will be reading that later.

I currently have two cockatiels and parakeets. Called the vet and waiting to hear back as Dany (younger cockatiel) is having some issues. She's very dominating. If we can't work those out we'll have to give her away. The vet does adoptions and we got one of our birds from there.

Z Nation is a zombie comedy show. I would recommend it but make sure it isn't too graphic for you. Most things are played up for laughs. Would not recommend Black Summer (the Z Nation prequel) as it takes all of the comedic charm and turns it into a serious drama. Z Nation was cancelled and ends on a cliffhanger so just be prepared for that.

I hadn't realized they made graphic novels! I hadn't heard of dramatic readings before - is it like visual audiobook?

I'm sorry to hear about Dany's issues! It's nice that the vet can assist with finding an appropriate home if you end up determining that the current situation isn't right for everyone. But I hope it works out! I know how intense bird personalities and relationships can be!

I haven't seen Z Nation, but that did remind me that I watched I Zombie and Santa Clarita Diet a while back lol

I love iZombie! Have to rewatch every now and then.

Love your sketch and that you and your mom had such fun. At least the smoke wasn't a problem for you.

(and my fellow lurkers) Hope you are well or will be soon. Waves

They started coming out with one graphic novel a year probably around 5 years ago. Current person is paid to make up to book 6.

Dramatic readings are audiobooks basically. I've switched how I do them over the years. Now I stream Minecraft and do the dramatic reading. There are also official audiobooks of the series. I started my dramatic reading before they came out and just continued.

Most likely the vet will refer me to somewhere that can help. I was having a mental breakdown last night at the thought of losing Dany.

I wish Santa Clarita Diet hadn't been cancelled. ESPECIALLY WITH THAT ENDING WTF?!

Thanks :)
