i've returned from my hiatus in december - before i left i took all my pets out of spotlight queue - bunch of them were nominated super fast again and i have yet to see a denial or win so thats 6 months waiting for some, but before that some were in the queue for 2 years and counting tbh

I haven't had a win since March 27, 2024 with Frances. Last time I got any spotlight-related notif, it was to fix something on Woofy's profile sometime last summer/fall I want to say. She got re-nominated pretty quickly after that. Olivyne has been nominated for over a year I think. I've got a few other nominated since and a few who are ready to be nominated, but I haven't bothered with pinging PSSupport because of how long the current process already takes.
It's been nearly a year since my last win with Prospekt (August 15, 2024). He won fairly quickly, but I had four other pets nominated before him, with no wins or denials on any of them. They're still sitting in the queue.
And I agree with Mournful that having one winner a week is too few. Judging by the comments here, I'm not the only one with multiple pets in the queue who have been there a LONG time, as well as not the only one who feels like there's no point in working on other pets when the queue is barely moving. I think that if the queue moved faster, people like me would be more motivated to work on pets, and therefore spend time and money on the site.
I spend very little on CWs since I don't have a human on my human avatar (lol), and I have a ton of sP with not much to spend it on, so I buy GAs with it instead of real money. If I was motivated to work on pets more, I'd not only use up that sP but also buy more CSC for potions and TC stuff. I'd also spend a lot more time on the site in general.
gotta agree with others above we badly need more than one win a week. i know there are users with amount of pets in double digits in the queue, at certain point i stopped caring bcs the queue is going to take forever to move at this rate and as a creative person i can go work on my other art projects that are actually going to be seen by people on other sites than here, buried for several years only to get smacked with denial. the salt from that denial was why i left for a year lol
the thing is i love subeta. my longtime member achi says 15 years. this is why i keep bitching here constantly. i want it to work here. but its becoming so difficult to find reasons to care

Comments 658 - 665 are super important!
Finally I have an answer for one. They don't want assbutt on the news page, thanks for the wait.
I'm glad you have an answer! That seems odd though. I know there are some places on site (like images on a profile) where words can't be filtered so they will deny for this. But I don't know if that's why they have issue with it being on the news page?
grammar I can fix. "On top of this having quite a few grammatical errors, while it is okay for this pet to exist on Subeta, it isn't really a pet name we want spotlighted on the main page." shrugs and leashes Assbutt
Hmm, that seems a little unfair even if I understand their feelings. But I guess if spotlight was important enough you could always change the display name temporarily.
Do you aim for themed jobs, high-paying jobs, or no jobs? Do you feed themed foods, play with themed toys, or read themed books? Do you work on achievements with specific pets? What kind of additional extra things do you think would be fun? Maybe your active pet could be considered the one playing games or vending? What additional kinds of pet achievements would you enjoy? If you don't do extras, why? Is it just not of interest or too much to invest in?
I have all my pets working towards the top tier of the gentech job, though I have a few with themed jobs. ATM training like 95 pets is the bane of my day and I am trying very hard to not throw my CSC at autotraining but omg I hate excessive click-repeat things. I've also decided to read a ton of books to a few pets based on their characters.
Belazar Belazar is my gourmand. I had a long internal struggle with if I wanted to work toward the gourmand achievement or not, because I hated the idea of feeding the gross foods to a pet with a more 'normal' character, and there are a frankly obnoxious amount of gross-out food items on this site. After years of being very half-assed about the gourmand thing due to that, I finally got myself to come up with a character who will eat literally anything lol.

Do you aim for themed jobs, high-paying jobs, or no jobs? Most of my pets do have jobs themed around their characters. I also have a "dreaming of someday" chart of jobs I'd switch certain pets over to, if they ever became options.
Pureflower is the only one of my pets who I trained/read solely to have a top-tier pet at SAI. Doesn't really fit her character, but she's my reader, so it made sense to put her into that job for the achievement.
Do you feed themed foods, play with themed toys, or read themed books? Kind of? When I do Major Quests and I have to feed/play as one of the goals, I'll try to pick a pet the item best fits. (So like, Raspberry gets any raspberry foods...same for all my foodies. Recall is big on brain-themed foods, etc.)
I don't have like...a theme for each pet, necessarily. Most of them have probably eaten a few carved pumpkins for that achievement. I put a lot more into pet TCs than feeding/reading specifically to each pet.
Do you work on achievements with specific pets?
Pureflower is my (greedy) pet who gets all the gourmet foods, books and battle training. I'd like to make a few pets with strong/warrior/villain characters into battle pets, but it's taking me 12+ years to get PF's stats up to the 1,000 range so...not a goal I'm likely to start on anytime soon.
What additional kinds of pet achievements would you enjoy? Seconding . I want the toys/grooming items to have more purpose and it would be great if our pets could "collect" them like foods and books.
I also wish there was more use for the "home" and "hobby" items. Some Thimble & Co items go into creating nostalgic pets, but otherwise are pretty much TC fillers only.

Slightly belated response to a few earlier posts regarding the pace of pet spotlight, just wanted to let y'all know your messages here (and in the feedback thread) have been heard - staff are aware of the issue and working on it.
Keep up the good work <3
2025 Stalacbite, Focused (7)
training 95 pets...! I can't imagine. I stopped at Tier 5 for all of my non-battlers though my super, super long-term goal is tier 7. For me, cost is the real issue. Easily a mil.+ to train everyone everyday for me.
Prompt no. 7:
I'm a bit of a min-maxer, so my goal for all of my pets is to eventually make 22.5k+ from the SubQ career (with the Criminal career as a stepping stone at 18.5k). I play Mystic Spindles for a free 30 points (pain in the ass) to hit the requirements earlier. With the Kumos shops and the books from Survival, Vesnali, and Masq., hitting 670 points isn't too bad.
I like pretending they're all criminals. The ones who "promoted" to better careers are still part of the crime ring lol.
I like "spoiling" my favorites. Valechka gets all of it – she's the battler, the reader, and the gourmet. I'm not aiming for completion, since achievements don't matter to me. I just funnel it all to her, because she's my virtual baby. I did consider raising Colt and Snow as secondary gourmets, but like said, not being able to remove 'wrong' (and gross stuff like poop) foods stopped me from going further.
Besides, it would get too expensive eventually and trying to juggle all of that is... so much.
Sending my pets on 'walks' and they pick stuff up, like extra sP, quest points, CSC, other currency... that would be fun. And if it ties into their happiness/hunger levels, I might be inclined to actually send them all to the resort haha. I'm a bad owner.
I'd love to 'gift' my pets too and see Subeta implement a "bonding meter" – kind of like quest reputation? And hitting certain markers would reward you with stuff (nothing special, just what we can already get). They could tie it into achievements too.
I feel like I should've gotten an achievement for 2,000 TC slots haha! More TC achievements past what we have right now would be nice. For other achievements: I don't think we have an "Own an Experiment" achievement yet. I like the idea of giving toys/grooming items a use too.
Quickly inserting prompt no. 6:
I've accepted that I'm not going to spotlight for all of 50+ pets. That's way, wayyy too many and it's just a lot of pressure to feel like I "need" to do something with them so as not to "waste" their names. When really, I just want to make art/profiles for the pets I want and work at my own pace. I am really enjoying treating Subeta as a collection of mini art projects I can work on as a break from my usual stuff.
I used to be really into collecting real names and words – and I still do – but I've been more interested in unique names and two-word names now. I've also taken battling more seriously, though it's not something I really enjoy. I DO like planning custom builds for my main battlers. Like, Valechka will be my hard-hitting tank; Estelle is a glass cannon, etc.
Wow I think I'm going to be super boring with this one actually...
Do you aim for themed jobs, high-paying jobs, or no jobs? --- Mostly just high paying, or what their stats can get them. I only have one pet I actively train (Masochism) as that's my reader and only battle pet. I don't want to sink tons of money into every pet for that when battling is only mildly enjoyable to me? Just SO MUCH CLICKING.
Do you feed themed foods, play with themed toys, or read themed books? --- themed? no. I have my one real battle pet. I have a few others that as books come in as prizes from quests get read to, and as stats increase through REs and income collection may change. I honestly just don't really do the play/feed/plushie/beanbag thing at all.
Do you work on achievements with specific pets? --- Really just the reading one with Masochism? At some point I will get the last couple colors I need for those achievements though.
What kind of additional extra things do you think would be fun? Maybe your active pet could be considered the one playing games or vending? --- Honestly, I think it would be sort of nice to have separate treasure chests? I have a pet I want to have some ingredients, some magic items, some tools, etc, but they all have to go into the same pot rather than in different groups.
What additional kinds of pet achievements would you enjoy? --- Honestly, not really sure. I don't gun for achievements until I am sort of on the way there for other reasons (or its part of an event, etc).
If you don't do extras, why? Is it just not of interest or too much to invest in? --- cost in sP/csc but also in time and mental energy dealing with wishlist organizing and even figuring out which items are needed.
Thank you so much for the update! I hope everyone on staff knows that it's not meant as a complaint about any person or people, rather the circumstances! It is absolutely known that everyone works hard, especially given how small the team is. Thanks for all you do and truly, thank you for updating us! It means a lot just to know we're heard <3
Oh man, it's been a long day today. But I wanted to at least answer part of this prompt!
Do you aim for themed jobs, high-paying jobs, or no jobs? Themed jobs, hands down. Not every pet I have has one, since they don't all really fit with the jobs currently available (still hoping for a music store opening for Druscylla! XD) But those that do, I tend to train them up to the highest position if I can - even if it's not the most high-paying job, might as well get the most out of it. Even if I do forget to collect the income most of the time. XD
Having said that though, some of those pets in jobs have kind of fallen by the wayside. Especially poor Glaielle and her 775 intelligence requirement to get promoted in her space job XD I keep track of the requirements needed in my Notepad widget, but that definitely doesn't always translate to them getting done =
Do you feed themed foods, play with themed toys, or read themed books? Absolutely! Again, not with every pet, but some of them do have themes. Cobalt only eats blue food, since she works at the Blue Building. Mertensia gets all the alcoholic drinks. Foods is my gourmand, because with a name like that how could he not be? And Wakko is sort of my backup gourmand, because anyone who watched Animaniacs knows he'll eat literally anything.
I used to do themed books, and still do for a few pets that I don't plan on battling with ever. But the battle pets read everything; even with intelligence boosters being a thing, still can't afford to be picky. There's also a list of books I read to all of my pets once I get around to boosting their intelligence. After raising it some with Mystic Spindles (after about 25ish intel I tend to get bored), I read them the dictionaries, all the language books, all the Subeta history books, and the all the music books.
Do you work on achievements with specific pets? Ehh....yes and no? I'm happy when I get them, but I don't tend to hunt achievements aggressively. So the ones I get tend to be ones that happen to coincide with what I'm doing anyway, like reaching certain training milestones or reading however many books.
Do you aim for themed jobs, high-paying jobs, or no jobs? Certain pets have themed jobs, like Reader being a librarian, or Noms being a candy taster (wish that paid more). The rest have high paying reasonable jobs. Got a few up for the space job (which fitted Orion and the Doctor!), most are mad scientists. Currently have 2 going up to space jobs. (so training and books)
Do you feed themed foods, play with themed toys, or read themed books? A couple I have started feeding themed foods or books, depending on their personality. I don't really use the toys as they seem to have little purpose.
Do you work on achievements with specific pets? Noms is my foodie with almost 6k food eaten. Sil has a lot of achievements. Some of those were before I got her.
What kind of additional extra things do you think would be fun? The toys seem not to do much. I'd like to see more with that.
As much as I'd love to go for the SAI jobs, it's so wild to attain especially for 100+ pets. I'm glad I found a few pets who have themed jobs (most of them came with the job though) but I'm doing the same thing - gentech or bust lol. Our pets can gossip about us around the water cooler.
Everyone goes into the resort for me too. I like them being happy and full, and I need Nev to be so she can kick butt and slowly work towards T6 (is very baby battler here). I do like the idea of feeding special foods, but then also those who I would feed to I'd rather have the items in their TC.
I remember you talking about the icky food struggle in the past! I forget about achievements too. I am reading to three pets - one because he was my first and the other two because it's themed to their character, but otherwise it's just for the job. Anything else achievement-wise for pets I kinda happen into by accident lol.
We need new job options if I was ever gonna do that hahaha
It does make sense to have one pet who gets everything since a lot of them can relate / overlap! Like training, reading, and job.
Oh yes, I would love for those other items to have additional purpose!
omg it's the worst and I gave up and am using CSC to auto-train as often as I can get hands on it. As soon as I get to the requirements for the job I'm done training anyone except Nev since she's the pet I adopted as a T5 and play with battling with. It's a LOT to take on trying to learn to battle well haha.
That's me with battling too. It's something I do while I watch TV or something, it's too much "click, click, click" for me especially since I don't know the ins and outs of technical battling.
I think multi-TCs would be really nice! So much more organizing possible that way. I sink a lot into TC slots as is and I'm sure I would do as much or more if we had divisions. ATM it's possible to do with code but it's hard (I haven't even tried).
I hope today has been easier on you than yesterday!
"I keep track of the requirements needed in my Notepad widget, but that definitely doesn't always translate to them getting done " omg SO relatable xD xD
That's so fun, I'm tempted to choose a few pets to start theming things around, but then again I need to focus on one or two goals I already have to get anything actually completed haha. I like the way you approach this!
The space jobs and SAI are such massive achievements! I was just looking at the job list yesterday and the stats for those are intense!
I wish the toys would be saved in a "Played With" like the books are a "Has Read" and food is "Has Eaten". That would give them much more purpose at this point.
