Seems like a great idea! Definitely agree with previous posts saying the active pet limit could be smaller than 100 if it helps the site run better :)
Oh, so like the pokemon nursery/box thing?
smooch!

I skimmed the thead and agree with some of the things suggested. Particularly the one where pets could train in the background while on the farm, instead of being just a storage box to keep them in :) Going off this idea, we could have random events where one of our pets in the farm found an item or sP :)
Loving the idea. I currently have 44 pets. Only 2 are trained and 1 reads all the books and eats all the foods, so loading up the other 42 is already unnecessary.
My only concern would be if we can still collect money from the jobs if we put a pet in a farm, since that's the only place where I utilize all my pets.
I agree with a lot of the other posters here - I would love to be able to put my pets on a farm, even with less than 100. I have around 50, but I only really actively use around 10 of them. Having that option available to everyone would be awesome.
Oh I love the idea, tbh. I have around 75 pets, and most of them are only for characters so the "active" portion would be 20 at most - the ones I'm active using for battling, etc. I'm guessing the farm pets won't be able to collect income? Not that it's a problem for me, but I believe the job agency does load all pets too.
I have only 30 pets and that is already annoying to keep scrolling on the pets page and feeding/reading to them and then missclicking by accident anyway. Would love to push some of them away from these pages

I can see now how "farm" is a problem - I saw someone say "plantation" and that word is heavily associated with race issues so I hardcore disagree on that.
Some other names (it'll include some ideas already suggested, sorry) - home, sanctuary, inn, kennel, field, meadow, pastures, island, ranch (this may seem synonymous with farm but there's a difference as ranches are meant for solely animals rather than a whole farm), daycare (maybe too child-ish?), den, plaza, house
Another neat idea is to like let the "farm" be set in spots around Subeta, like you can pick where your pets are based (it's mostly just for fun but maybe later it can have special features added based on where your "farm" is) and it gets a unique name depending on the area. Some ideas: Ziara - spaceship Peka - meadow / clearing Galaxan Wastelands - crater Coda Caves - tunnel Riverside or Veta - garden / cottage / field Delphi or Omen Islands - beach house / boat Shadowglen - shack (lol) Sacred Lands - sanctuary / temple
And more. My brain juice low.
I like the term Pet Retreat better than farm If you are looking for alternate names.
"Farm" sounds more like a place my larger carnivore pets would go to pick out livestock for lunch...
Regardless what you end up calling it, I would definitely make use of it. I currently only have 34 pets, but even that number gets cumbersome when reading/feeding/training. Perhaps this would be something we could set up in Shenqui-Guo in lieu of the tea house idea.
I really like this idea. Reminds me of Pokemon, which I feel has always been kind of an influence on Subeta anyway. You have a "team" of active creatures, and a stock of the creatures youre not using at the time. I think it's definitely a good idea.
I recently got my 100th pet. I want to build my pet pages and then I don't need them all to be active. 25 active pets is more than enough if my pet page is visible for the others. I do tend to do everything for all of them just because I can. I love this idea.
i'm down for this even if the number ends up having to be shorter too!! there's pets that would be nice to select as unavailable to particiapte on site stuff like training n feeding but i wish that the option to still give em treasures and minions was there without having to move em out of the farm

I laughed pretty hard at people being all "wtf who would have 100 pets?" while I'm sitting here with 124 and my first thought reading this was this dreamy fantasy of "hey what if this means we could get MORE BUYABLE PETSLOTS since maybe it might reduce the strain having a lot of pets puts on the site?!" I have a one-track mind even when I'm pretty inactive. But I am absolutely 100% serious when I say I'd immediately put a few hundred dollars into CSC if I could use it on petslots... :')
Anyway, I like this idea. As long as I'm able to still display my pets and add to their TCs and edit profiles and such, I have absolutely no issues. I also think that it would make a lot of sense to cut down the amount of... uh... non-farm pets people could have to a cap of something like 50 or so, maybe even 20ish if it's easy for people to swap out pets and would benefit the site enough.
I do agree that "farm" is.. not a great name - "den" is pretty cute though!

I skimmed the thread and saw you covered the only exemption I'd want too, which is to still be able to get all the incomes. This would actually be an improvement on the current system, probably make things easier on the site as well as us not having to open/load all those tabs.
With that said, I would LOVE this feature! I'm not even at 30 yet and I already feel overloaded with pets who are just part of my "I want one of every species" personal quest, not ones I have actual character concepts or item themes for. Once I get everyone set up in their jobs with training I'd be happy to stash most of them in "home base" mode most of the time, so lists aren't so darn long.
I've read through this topic completely. I spent a whole day at work daydreaming about the possibilities of it,
I am ok with the term "Farm", but couldn't it be customizable like Shops/Galleries? How about offering multi customizable storage places for a fee, maybe for GA holders like Shops/Galleries.
I am looking at getting more Nastalgic and Popokos, in the future. I would love to use the name "Promise's Play Pen" or "Promise's Popoko Place". (Just a couple of examples).
I am in favor of limiting the number of Pets that show up on Profiles. I know it's an unfavorable position for many, who want all of their Pets seen by everyone. What about an "Icon" at the bottom of a short Pet List, that leads to the storage area(s)?
There was some posts suggesting paying for an NPC to care for stored Pets. I don't know, if Pets don't die, what is the use? If someone pulls a Pet for Battle, the Resort is a viable and instantaneous resource. I wouldn't want to lose my option of using the Resort because of the storage feature.
However, there could be ways to interact with other User's Pets, like symbolically feed, play, groom. (I am flashbacking to the Valenth Pets, people use to add to their Profiles and other players could level them up by clicking "Feed Me").
There could be new Achievements, Items, and Social XP(?), attached with interacting with others stored Pets.
In my fantasy, the item given out was Painted Rocks. I don't think that they are a Fad anymore, but has creative potential for the Artists and can lead to a new collection game. Example: "CleverWit gives you a Rose Painted Rock as a Thank You for the attention."
I haven't figures out what Social XP can be used for, if anything. Maybe trade for items or Gym Stats. Maybe a Job that requires of a high level of social-ability. I just came up with Social XP because the more pets interact with other people, they become more social in real life.
None of my Pets have Jobs, because I always forget to collect their pay. I am in favor of one button to collect all daily pet pay.
Sorry, my imagination, tends to run amok quite often. Thanks for reading my ramblings.
I like this idea a lot actually! Flight Rising has the Hibernal Den, which works similarly, and it helps me keep track of which pets I'm done working on, and which ones I am working on, and which ones are benched for now.
i had a dream last night, that the farm on subeta was released (and everyone loved it, btw) but, it was a picture of a farm, right? And you could customize the page with pictures of your pets out in the farm area. Then, down at the bottom, it just had links to your pets you could click.
It was very cute.
But regardless, whatever you all gotta do is what you gotta do! i'm all here for it, just thought i needed to share xD
100 active pets seems really, really high, honestly. Even if it seems like it's a "sweet spot," is it also taking into consideration the "averages" of the other possible cached data? (eg, custom overlay, maybe even tc slots or whatever else? not sure of the specifics)
I am chilling at pet slots in the 80s atm but I am not sure how many active people have 100+ pets, but I'd just be careful that the sweet spot data may be skewed, so I'd suggest with a more conservative cap for "active" pets and then increase it... assuming this isn't terribly irrelevant or whatever. Increasing will feel better than decreasing it for users, though.
But yeah, only thing I have to say is I'd prefer it to not be called a farm either, lmao. Maybe calling pets the "active/inactive party"? Or "tavern" instead of farm, at least... Maybe a little too RPG sounding for some people, so maybe assembly, troop, or club might be better.
