Oh nice! That sounds really neat.
Oh it has been a long, long ass day. Went to bed at 3am, got up at 7am and still up. Dad and I went to Atlanta today, first stop was the shelter in Atlanta. And I found a puppy to adopt. She's really sweet. She's black and white and totally adorable. She was very quiet and reserved in the kennel but more playful in the run where we got to play with her a bit... well watch her run. I've got a photos from the pound and one or two from getting home but we got home so late that I really havent had much energy to even think lol. We got home at 7.30pm. I've been taking her hour every half hour to an hour to get her potty trained and I got two or three more trips outside before bedtime. She's in her crate in the Scrapbook room cos she's got an upper respiratory infection and the vet recommended at least 24 hours on meds before being introduced to the cats. But I promised her I'll spend more time with her tomorrow. It's good to let her have some calm too. She had a 5 hour trip in the car, poor thing, and a bath so she's had a really long day. And mummy's spent. LOL I needa teach her how to play. I've decided to call her Melody. After the shelter, we went to get lunch at almost 2 pm...we got to the shelter at 11!! We had no idea it was going to take THAT LONG!!! I mean we wanted to see her at 11.15 and then we waited and waited and waited more. We did paperwork and that took awhile and ugh... Then we hit traffic and got to petco... but they had none of the food she had and the Crate was ridiculously overpriced. I'm not super thrilled with the crate idea but with 5 cats I think it's the best choice--the shelter recommended it. plus the scrapbooking room is 100 % NOT puppy proof so she can't be in there on her own without a crate. Anyway, then we went to petsmart which was out of the crate AND dog food... :/. Then the british store for Christmas goodies--then we hit WAY more traffic.... finally we went to the local petsmart for the food and the crate and then bought dinner. THAN I finally got to pee LOL and took her potty, bathed her, set a tarp over the carpet in the sewing side of the scrapbook room...then let mum play while I showered off the shelter--THEN I got her medicine in her, played a bit fed and watered and unloaded the van and.... zzzzz....
Holy cow that's a long day! I'm excited for you to have Melody though! And as someone who was opposed to crates until we gave in and got one for Roxy years ago...they're not as bad as I thought at all. We got Roxy used to hers by giving her treats when she went in and made sure she always had water in there, but it gives them a nice safe space that's just "theirs" to be in. We always had ours mostly covered with a blanket/throw aside from the end that had the door. My friend does that with his crate as well for his dog. We also got the oversized one (I really don't understand their sizing decisions because I wanted my dog to be able to stand up and turn around and get comfy). It'll be good for her and for you because you'll have a spot that she's used to being in if you need to put her up for any reason (like work being done in the house etc) that she'll feel secure in.
sorry for the delay, was a long day yesterday. Melody's really sweet and clearly feeling better cos this morning she was a ball of energy lol. I'm pooped. Gotta get her a new chew bone though cos she's lost two baby teeth in two days so I'll get one softer. She's gotta have the right things to chew--and not our furniture 😉
I hear you. I really didn't want a crate but it's working out well for both of us. Gives me a chance to have time off and gives her a safe place to sit and all. So I think it's a win-win. I got her the medium size because I thought the small was too small. Hopefully she won't need the large but I agree, I'd rather her have more space than less.
It does sound like a very busy day but I'm glad things are going well with her ❤️ And yeah, we did one size up for Roxy (she should've had a large but we got her an extra large). Did they say what breed she is or what they think her mix is?
yeah I think it's going really well so far :) She even stayed out longer today. And zero accidents today. the other accidents were all right beside the crate or going in it when she sees me come in the morning but still overall she's only had like 4 or 5 accidents which I think is wonderful for a 3 month old pupper. She's sort of getting the hang of fetch lol but stops to chew the toy occasionally lol. Annie has been really curious about her, but the other cats are more hesitant. They didn't list the breed possibility but one of the workers said she thought border collie mix and honestly I think she's totally right. She's short hair though, not long
That's not too bad at all. It's definitely a learning experience, especially when they're so excited to see you. And it's good the cats aren't totally scared or aggressive and that she seems unbothered by them as well. Short fur is definitely a win :)
lol yeah. She's way excited to see me, it's so sweet <3 I'm glad she's doing well with the cats so far :D. lol right? XD Amelia had long fur and it was a pain. How you doin?
I'm doing okay, I'm just tired. I got my booster Friday after work so I'm little sore.
I hope you can get a good appointment time :)
I kept putting off making my appointment too so I get it lol
It definitely was not only you haha. We keep hearing about more folks getting covid tho so I did it. Plus I have my ortho surgeon consult in 2 weeks and I wanted to be sure I was done and it had time to take effect before then. I know if he recommends surgery it won't happen that fast but still.
thanks for the buddy account thats a good idea. What do they think they might need to do?
Most welcome :) And I'm not sure. He ordered the MRI because he wanted a better picture of what was going on. I've already tried everything that they typically recommend before they go the surgery route so I just don't know.
