The Time of Contempt in The Witcher series

I finished Any Way The Wind Blows. I wanted it to be better than it was; it felt like the entire point of the 2nd book was to introduce one character for book 3.

I meant getting a copy from my library! Last time I looked, the wait list for it had more than three dozen people. It might be faster to wait for a friend to finish their copy and borrow it from them, honestly. I'll just have to see how desperate I am for the next book once I've finished this one!

Iron Flame was so good, but that ending, please excuse me while I shout into the void. To be clear, I'm not upset about the ending itself, I'm upset about how long I may have to wait to get the third book if my friend can't lend me their copy. I did some quick math to estimate when I might be able to get it from my library, and under ideal circumstances, if each patron keeps the book for the full checkout time and factoring in that there are eight copies listed in the system, it would take four months for me to get my hands on a library copy. I could cry, I want it nowwww. ;w;

In the meantime, I'll be starting Carpe Jugulum by Terry Pratchett. Not the Discworld book I was hoping to get, but someone checked out the only copy of The Hogfather literally two days before my most recent visit. Made me a bit sad, but I'm planning to work my way through all the Discworld books eventually, so it's not much of a loss, really.

I've just started Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros. My friend came through for me and let me borrow their copy. I'm so thankful, no need to wait 4+ months for a library copy to be available. ;w;

Read a few other books in the interim. Girl, Serpent, Thorn by Melissa Bashardoust, which was a fantastic read about learning to accept yourself. The characters were amazing, they do a lot of learning and growing throughout the book and the main character was really relatable for me. The Rose Bargain by Sasha Peyton Smith. Which I can recommend, wholeheartedly; the story is lovely, and if you like a good twist on faerie stories, you'll probably like this. But... you may want to wait for the sequel to come out next year. I certainly wish I had. I was just shy of crying from frustration when I got to the ending. It's very abrupt and while I don't like to be left hanging in general, where this book in particular leaves off is well short of ideal. I actually freaked out thinking it was a standalone novel as there's no indication anywhere in the book itself that it's to be continued in a second book; I had to go to the author's site to find that information. Last but not least, Legend of the White Snake by Sher Lee. I literally cried near the end of this book, the story is emotional and beautiful.

I just got my Amazon delivery of The Curse that Binds by Laura Thalassa so I'm excited to get into it this afternoon and see what Roxilana and Memons life was like. I really enjoyed Memon and Selene in Bespelled and Bewitched.

Oh, man. Life's been complicated, so it's mostly been easy reads for me. I finished the Blood Magic and Cursebreaker books (JT Lawrence), moved on to Until the World Falls Down (Jordan Lynde), and now I'm greedily sucking down the ACOTAR books (Sarah J. Maas). I'm trying to finish up the third book before I have to return the digital copy. (SO GOOD. SO SO GOOD. Totally blew away my expectations and enjoying it greatly.)

Onyx Storm was so good. Also emotional. The plot pulled no punches, and I cried just a bit over a couple points. And the ending was, honestly, pretty much perfect, at least for me. Like, assuming another book is coming, I don't feel like I'm being dragged over hot coals the entirety of the wait because it wrapped up satisfactorily. Which is more than I can say for a lot of books.

Just starting Hogfather by Terry Pratchett. I got impatient and ended up putting in a hold for it at my library when it wasn't returned on time. Their last physical copy went missing/was never returned over a year ago, and it was just replaced at the beginning of this year, so I've been a bit more... aggressive in trying to lay hands on it.

i tend to read multiple books at the same time (i know, it's a really weird habit) so right now i'm reading "i want to die but i want to eat tteokbokki" by baek se-hee and "spare parts: the story of medicine through the history of transplant surgery" by paul craddock :)

after this i'm planning to re-read "on earth we're briefly gorgeous" by ocean vuong because i've just been thinking about his writing a lot lately!

Hogfather was so good, it was hard to put down. I want to read more about Susan, but I'm not sure which other books, if any, she appears in. I'll figure it out eventually as I work my way through the Discworld novels.

Started Secrets for the Mad by Dodie last night. This is the last book I need for this year's reading challenge, so it's all personal and leisure picks from here. c': I was actually planning to read something fictional to fill this space, but then I spotted this book on the shelves during a recent library visit and could not resist.
