Nominated! Who doesn't love a cute warrior bookworm <3
Hello, newbie here! Any/all tips and suggestions welcome.
(Mostly looking for tips on story as that's the only part that's really "done" right now. I'm not a coder, so no fancy layouts here unfortunately :c
To do:
- art
- better layout (if possible ^^;;
- eventually finish other pets that are related, but that's down the road)
Hi! Very nice profile! In the credits, instead of 'code edits' I would suggest 'edited', because you found the background, you decide the colors, the kind of font, etc. You do more with the profile than simply edit the code. And this way you cover a lot more with just one word. :) For the story, I just saw a few little things:
mere whisper and the presumed 'tea' was . (Tea was what?)

That was very well-written! I noticed the parts Chrysariel mentioned too, but also:
"Now I don't want to get be presuming and cliche..."
Wasn't sure of the actual intent so I just underlined the confusing part. Can't wait for part II on Nok!

Hey guys! I believe I'm happy with my next pet!
It's based on a character from Fire Emblem and the Song of Roland. I believe this one's got the big gif as a background in case it keeps loading for too long. What I actually was curious about. Do you guys pay attention to responsiveness? I always fear that most of my pages look icky on phones or when people put the page on the left part of a screen. I get kinda anxious thinking about it when doing these weird layouts, hahah. Does that have any kind of relevance to you?Anyway, hoping for some feedback! Please let me know if something's missing or not great! o/

Not gonna lie it took me a while to find the clickable to the story. I don't know if it's because I got distracted by the moving snail at the bottom or the graphics in general or if I personally just don't work well with these sorts of profiles. As for the story section itself, the bottom is getting cut off in my browser, so I don't know if it might be worth putting a scroll bar in there?
I think the right stripe/side is your TC? Flicking through it on my mouse pad was fun (once I figured out you could do that). Again, it might just be that I'm not used to these sorts of layouts but I'd suggest either putting a little button/notice or making the distance between items less. Other people might have found the layout more intuitive though.
Ah, thanks for checking it out! That helped me, since making it work on every monitor is hard when everything is scattered around. I made the text scrollable and maybe it gets a little clearer that you can click the Priggle. I kinda wanted to test the waters on what people would think of that kind of profile. Maybe I'll find someone who likes these kinds of profiles! Appreciate the feedback! o/

hi all! :) i have both a (random?) question and a pet I'd love feedback on! hope both is fine lol
firstly, i just had a strange thing happen: i got a notification that my pet Fivor's nomination had been denied because: "Missing credits / Please credit the text"
however, i did not have the option "nominate for pet spotlight" on? i've turned it on now (and fixed the credits), but i'm a 100% sure the button wasn't ON my pet's page to be nominated in the first place? does anyone know if there is a way to nominate a pet outside of its profile? and has anyone have this happen before?
and secondly, if anyone has the time, my pet Kynnos Vinter's story has been changed a few times but is now finished i think! i'd love some feedback :3
That's pretty weird. Maybe you switched it on without knowing and someone nominated?
Kynnos's story made me kinda sad; I hope she gets some friends soon.
You might have to credit where you got the fox image from? Other than that I think your neela is ready.

yeah that might have been it, but i hadn't touched that pet's profile for a long time, nor had i opened any pages in the pet spotlight's side of subeta..?

You got a pet spotlight denial for a pet you had turned off right?
oh yes, I made a ticket about it but staff said the only explanation would be that my pet was selected as "yes" a long time ago and it was just entered in the review queue. But I didnt even knew about that page until now lol
strange, for me I did have it on "yes" I think when I found out that you could turn the button on and off. That was a long time ago though, I turned it off before another pet of mine pet had been nominated and won? so unless the queue isn't chronological, that doesn't make sense as I should have gotten this message before the other pet was even nominated (if that makes sense)
Yea... idek when or who nominated me lol, I noticed I was nominated when I received an alert yesterday saying my pet was denied
Hi, I was pinged by in the other thread. Maybe I love clicking things but the profiles are very fun (esp. Ferdinante's which reminds me of a picture book) & would really love to see more of it!

For Bramimonde, I wound up clicking the floating text a split second before the gif loaded. Had the bg not popped up right before the story window took up the screen, I'd have missed that there was a background & overlay shrinking into the center animation. I looked at the .gif size - it was kind of large & might take longer on slower connections too! It's possible to split up the elements in your gif but probably a pain. If you're not up for that, you could try converting it to .webp or .apng to see if it'll reduce the filesize without compromising quality?
Also I wasn't able to figure out how to trigger different treasure chest items to look at them (the ones in the bubble)? I noticed that different TC "items" appeared when i resized the screen -- I just hovered randomly over the right side of the page & the "items" changed, but after a few times they stopped changing ;; Since the TC items & the snail are both creatures, it also took me a while to realise what they were (& that the snail was the minion).
It'd be really helpful to add some hovers explaining what something is! Here are some things I could spot:
- On Bramimonde's snail (& Ferdinante's minion), upon hover, you could add text beside indicating what it is. And for the TC items, the same thing
- For Ventuswill, I think it'd be helpful if upon hovering over the overlay, the image becomes unblurred -or- you can add a textbox saying "click me"/"story"/etc. It'll be less easy to miss that you can actually click on him, since it's easy to focus on the anims rather than the cursor. You can also add a large arrow/text indicating that you can scroll down the page, since the scrollbar is hidden.
- For Ferdinante, the text becomes hard to read in slim windows/on phones, and his overlay becomes very small. You could add in a media query like this as a solution.

I hope this helps in the meantime as a second pair of eyes! & have made great interactive profiles that've been spotlighted (like Tatiana & Signal), so I think they can help you figure out getting it through the approval queue too.
Also I thought I was a good FE fan but despite playing FE7 a long time ago, I remember nothing about Bramimonde yet everything about the playable characters ;_; gotta go back and play it... I was too focused on the support convos...
I thank you very much! That was super helpful and I'll definitely get onto that! The image really is big. Thanks for the agif advice! o/ I should definitely work more with hovers. For Bramimonde's TC you basically fling it around by scrolling it haha. Maybe it doesn't feel very intuitive, so I believe I will make it show more than one treasure at a time.
So happy you know the refereence!! <3 Bramimonde was one of the warriors during the huge war against the dragons and lost its personality as it sealed away the holy weapons! I kinda wanted to capture that eerie vibe.
