Hi all. Lost power last night, and even after repairs I still was out. Its really cold here too and for the next week. Getting down in the teens and single digits soon. They told me to try the breakers. I flipped all of them in the house and still nothing. I feel so stupid but I can't walk to the big breaker outside on the service poles. The last time I did I fell on the uneven ground and it took me forever to get up. I also don't know what I'm supposed to do anyway even with instructions. Afraid I'll do something wrong. But my son is truly my knight in shining armor and came over and did everything and I got my power back on. He is always so good about doing stuff, esp with electronics or electricity. He's a genius with those and has his own computer company. So thankful to him and for him! <3
Welcome!
Thank You! and Im so sorry to hear that u were without power for awhile. Where r u from? I'm in PA and we have had a lot of snow and ice the last few days and places had outages to. But thankfully not here. I know I'm sooo over all this snow! and they r calling for more this weekend! Ugh!..... I need a vaca to somewhere sunny for a few weeks lol
Hi! I'm in North Central Texas and we are not used to this! lol I love snow because we don't get it often, so its special. We might get some the next few days, though, but its going down in the single digits several nights. Brrrrr...
being without power gives me the heebies! Blech. If I can't control the lights I just sit there wide awake waiting...
Welcome! covers self Sorry I'm ready for survival...if it happens...
I'm in the same boat; an adult who has taken a long haitus from the site. Feel free to message me anytime!

veg out as i am doing the same. To cold to go outside :)
when I do that I end up only making it a few hours before I feel useless and like I'm wasting the day. Maybe a quick pop outside will convince me. hahaha

still icy and loads of snow here. Car roads are clean but the rest not. Not a big fan of the winter. But I like sitting on the couch with a blanket and tea with snacks.
Any idea when survival starts?
I would think soon, We're "mid-February" maybe tomorrow?

Reading your post scared the daylights out of me, until I got to the part about your son. Then I could relax and smile. You are indeed fortunate to have such a talented son. If I lose power I lose my heat and that possibility is always in the back of my mind at this time of year. That and keeping an eye on the pipes in my kitchen as they are on the outside wall unprotected. Low temps mean keeping the under the sink cabinet open a letting water drip continuously mixed hot and cold.
He is wonderful! Worried about losing the power again tho. My house is all electric, so yes I lose the heat too. Today woke up and discovered the pipes are frozen even tho they are all insulated. We had been dripping the faucets, but I think it might have been me that turned off the sink in my bathroom, and Rox said twice she went in the kitchen after me and dripped the one in there. It's just such a habit, and I was utterly stupid. We did turn off the water at the street (my son's suggestion) and left on a couple faucets. So hopefully when they thaw if the pipes haven't burst already, the blast of air won't do it either. Might get lucky because they are all insulated. Here's hoping. Rox left a big bucket full of water outside just in case, so we have that and I'm sure when my neighbor gets his message from her we can get more water from him. It's going to be a pain without water. Ugh. Only getting colder the next few days at least too, so not a chance of thawing for awhile.
If I'm not on here tomorrow, Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!

My hot water and stove are gas but everything else is electric. Another reason I keep both phones charged as no pc or other outside contact. That's a horror and not a good thing, water is a necessity. What about a plumber? You've done what you know to do, hope the pipes will be fine in spite of the weather. Happy Valentines Day to you also.
Sucks about the pipes. Don't blame yourself too bad. It's so out of the norm to leave a tap dripping that's it's super easy to forget. Hope the next few days go okay and they thaw as slowly but sooner rather than later. Hope neither you or lose power.
We're under a winter storm watch starting at 7pm tomorrow and thru 1pm on Tuesday. Mom's 2nd vaccine shot appt is Tuesday morning so right now it looks like we'll have to delay it. Just don't know how big a window she has. More snow expected on Thursday.
Yes it did go away, thank you for asking. The sensitivity to light and sound lasted longer but were gone by bedtime.

"Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people, making widows their prey and robbing the orphan." - Isaiah 10:1-2
agree with , let's both keep our power and I hope your pipes thaw sooner than later.
hope today as it's the 14th but who knows lol
Happy Valentines Day everyone!
glad it went away, that happens to me sometimes too, usually, it's the sensitivity fist though
I turn my battery-powered radio on every time.
No power outage for anyone is my vote. Ugh, it's coated with ice today outside. Even the grass is slippery!
the day is still young...
