I don't think I utilize any aesthetic, my room is a jumbled mess at best. Ideally my decor would be utilitarian and very sparse. Part of me wants to live off grid, but not totally cut off. There is a mentality of less is more.

What's your preferred home decor aesthetic?

My aesthetic is pretty much a hodgepodge of whatever makes me smile and colors. For example: When you walk into my house the first thing you see are Star Fall stairs from Riserart My living room is decorated in Medival Fantasy Prints, Band Posters, Comic Art, and skulls with a bunch of fairy/led lights thrown about along with weapons, stuffed animals, lego builds, and really old books. My bathroom is a mix of zen tranquility, make-shift greenhouse, and mermaids - Check out these beauties!

Anyone who likes matching/uniform/cohesive designs would have a fit in my house.

Hmmm... probably cosy and a bit hodgepodge. I love my blankets and joke that if I ever become rich, I would invest most of it into linen. I like to make use of whatever I already have so my bookshelves are littered with little knick knacks I collected when I was younger. I love artwork so I have canvas prints, frames prints and more recently artwork by local artists (which are my absolute favourite) hanging on some of my walls.
That's super sweet, your Grandma sounds amazing! Sounds like the best childhood memories. Did you guys mostly do that around the holidays or whenever? The only dough/baking related memories I have as a kid was trying to eat play dough :( It was really salty.

Also, I do agree that there is something weird going on with pings. I usually refresh the page to make sure the edited ping went through. I don't know if that actually does anything though :/
Today's question: Do you have a certain place outside of your home you go to escape/relax/recharge?

My answer I used to have a favorite beach spot on the Columbia River where I'd go to be alone. It was great for stargazing too. I don't live in that area anymore and I no longer have a desire to escape from my house (by which I really mean my ex) so I haven't found a new spot like that, but I miss those melancholy nights at the riverfront. In some ways I think it's kind of bad for me that I'm so comfortable in my house now because I don't leave it often enough and I don't discover cool places like that anymore. I also live in a more heavily-populated area so those types of locations are harder to find...most everything nearby is either private property or it's full of people, ugh.

Beatrice She was awesome! She was a real "Rosie the Riveter" and worked in an aircraft factory during WWII, then after the war she basically became the perfect stereotype of a 1950s housewife. I always felt bad for her being stuck in that domestic role and seemingly always doing chores but looking back, I think that's just what she wanted to do. I guess. I hope so. She seemed happy anyway. X'D She always prepared incredible holiday meals with all the trimmings (including that weird jello salad stuff) but pie time really happened when my grandpa's raspberries were ready. He had a huge row of raspberry bushes in the yard and he'd spend a nice summer day soaking up the sun and picking berries at his leisure, then he'd present them to my grandma and basically be like "Here wife, make me a pie" lol (actually a lot of pies, and many jars of jam). He was awesome too though, don't want to make it sound like he was a jerk or anything. In fact, he let me use his tools to build stuff and encouraged me to pursue whatever I wanted as an AFAB person so he struck me as fairly progressive for his generation.

I never understood why so many kids would eat actual Play-Doh. I liked to play with it but the smell was kind of off-putting and not appetizing to me at all lol

That would be my friend's house(s), albeit that the only days I can go are weekends. Though once in a while I could go shop hopping on my own.

Home IS my escape and recharge place. Although there was a path behind my old apartment I used to walk with my beau, but it wasn't for escaping, really, it was just to go do something together, mostly. There was a footbridge that we both liked, though, and we'd stand around on it for a while every time we went walking, it crossed over a stream, and while it wasn't much to look at, the sound was still nice. I think there's a walking/biking path near our current place, too, but we haven't been on it, looked like it wound its way through residential areas, and as kids from rural nowhere, that's just not really Our Thing. For real, though, I don't leave the house if I'm stressed, it just stresses me out more. I stress bake instead. You can always tell how I'm feeling by how many homemade baked goods are in my kitchen.

It's meeeeee! I'm back! <3 I hope I can make a post to the reply to some of you!

What item in real life do you go through/wear out quickly? I eat an unhealthy amount of yogurt. Aside from that also definitely all sorts of fruit: Clementines, apples, blueberries, etc. I'll take whatever I can get and it's gone in seconds.

Have you ever had a paranormal/unexplained experience? (If not, would you like to?) Never had anything like that but I'm quite happy about that. I am the biggest scaredy cat ever so if anything like that were to happen to me I'd literally shit my pants...

Do you wear jewelry? Yes! A white gold and diamond ring on my left ring finger, three gold necklaces of different lengths, 2 earrings, 2 helix piercings, 2 conch piercings and a daith piercing :) All golden titanium except of two real gold ones.

Have you ever been on stage in front of an audience? Yes, in my literature course in highschool we wrote a theatre piece and I acted in it. Also, I was part of the welcoming committee of the first semesters at my uni about a year ago and had to say a couple of things in front of them. I was quite nervous but it was fine since I did it with 2 friends of mine.

Have you ever ridden a horse? Yes, I started horseback riding when I was 12 and did it until I was 16. In order to pay for lessons and ride as much as I want, I had to clean the stable two times a week. Back then I spend most of my time in the stables. Nowadays, I would not do that anymore...

How do you feel about clowns? I don't think they are very scary. I think they can bring a lot of fun and happiness to children but I don't think they do the same for me xD

If you could create your own job title, what would it be? Oh I really like the question! I would like to be "CEO of a majorly influencial world-changing green company with a focus on sustainability"

What book are you currently reading? Or what's next on your reading list? Still Anne Frank's diary (haven't found the time to continue at all, sadly). Next up are Satre and Simone de Beauvoir c:

What are you most excited about in the coming weeks/months either on Subeta or in RL? Subeta: Luminaire. 100000% 😍 Real Life: Christmas. 100000% 😍

Do you experience any Mandela Effects? What is that? Would you mind explaining it to me?:)

If you could keep a mythical creature as a pet, which one would you pick? A dragon! A green one 😍 Eragon was one of the first books I read on my own and I was absolutely enthralled by these mystical creatures! -

What ringtones do you use on your phone? None because I keep it on silent at all times. My last ones were boulevard of broken dreams by Green Day and "Warum bin ich so fröhlich", the intro song of an old (Dutch?) children's TV show. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CWQUXLl5lmc

What's your best culinary or baking specialty? I make some reeeeeeally good gyoza from scratch and baking-wise my waffles are incredibly good. I've also been held in high esteem for my chocolate chip cookies :)

What's your most recent Subeta achievement and what are you working on next? The last one I got was one for reading books to my pet but I don't work on my achievements so I'm not trying to get something specific :)

What's your preferred home decor aesthetic? Uh! Nice question! I really like this boho chic aesthetic with lots of macrame and light tones and loooooooots of plants. But sadly, I never managed to pull that off...

Do you have a certain place outside of your home you go to escape/relax/recharge? Yeah my former workplace, a café in my home city. They even unofficially named a menu item after me and I'm friends with the owner. It was a magical place but I guess you can imagine what happened to a place that couldn't even afford a full time help before corona... ;(

I like hanging out in the car and going for drives with my partner. Its very peaceful, and makes me feel safe.
That's amazing. It sounds so quaint and cute! So interesting that your grandparents basically lived the life we imagine people lived at that time. Did they talk about their experiences of the war much or not really? I can't believe you guys had raspberry bushes. That must have been so fun to pick during the summer. I've never seen a berry bush in person and only tried fresh raspberries at the age of 14, so that's what really amazes me hahaha. Its nice that your grandparents seemed to make an effort to engage with you and your interests. :) Those memories sound so sweet!

And to answer the play dough question - I was a super curious kid... I used to try and eat flies as a toddler and chewed on blu tack as a kid. Yeah, like waaaaay too many children I was odd and gross child :P
[EDIT:] WELCOME BACK !!! :)

Today's question: Who is your favorite comedian?

My answer I'm not a huge comedy fan and haven't really thought about it before, but I guess if I was put on the spot I'd say George Carlin.

Minty Welcome back! :D

To answer your question, the "Mandela Effect" is a name given to the phenomenon of false memories shared by a large group of people. The name comes from the fact that many people seem to recall Nelson Mandela dying in prison in the 1980s whereas it is clearly documented that this was not the case. Many more shared misremembrances of everything from historical facts to cereal brand names have been discovered as more people talk about their memories in forums dedicated to the Effect. Another common example is the belief that "The Berenstain Bears" (a children's book series) used to be spelled "Berenstein" so sometimes it's called the Berenstain (or Berenstein) Effect too. (I definitely remember it as Berenstain, but I've always been particularly attentive to spelling so the spelling-related effects don't tend to resonate with me). Some people believe these apparent alterations of facts are a conspiracy of some sort or that they are jumping between alternate universes with slight differences between them...I do not believe anything like that, but I think it's a very interesting psychological phenomenon that so many people can have the same false memories and be so certain of them...and it has major real-world implications, such as for the credibility of witness testimony in court. Can we really believe anyone's recollections of events, even our own? Even if a whole group agrees on the "facts"? As I said in my own reply to the question, I am pretty strongly affected by some of them and I would have bet money that my memories were accurate. I accept that they are not, and that I am mistaken, but it's downright weird and uncomfortable to confront that. There are also reasonable explanations in many cases for such widespread misconceptions, such as, for example, some scene in a movie was actually spoofed in another movie or a comedy skit and we are remembering the spoof instead of the original material. I think that's the explanation for the Silence of the Lambs one; the only problem for me is, I never saw the spoof that my memory supposedly came from. I guess I must have just absorbed it from pop culture somehow, but it's weird how clearly I can recall it in Hannibal Lecter's voice. Creepy stuff. XP

There's another thing that's similar called a "Glitch in the Matrix", or at least that's what redditors call it. It's like a Mandela Effect but on a more personal level. My worst one is the vivid memories I have of touring an aircraft carrier when I was a kid that I can't seem to corroborate with facts. I'm sure my parents took me there but my dad says it didn't happen (we DID tour an old Soviet submarine that was docked in Seattle and he confirmed I'm not making that up at least lol). I checked records for all carriers docked locally and open for tours during the relevant timeframe and nothing lines up. Yet I have very specific memories of this tour and of what a carrier looks like below deck. Makes me feel like I'm losing my mind... o_O

Beatrice They really did; they were like perfect representatives of their generation. My grandpa talked about the war a little more since he was in the Army Air Corps (I think he was a flight mechanic, something like that) so he was directly involved in it. He spent a lot of his time while he was on the ground in India and told stories about how the monkeys would steal their underwear and take it up in the trees and laugh at them. XD He also got malaria and generally didn't have a great time though so didn't dwell on war stories too much.

Oh man, I loved the raspberries! Store-bought ones just don't compare (and they're so expensive, yikes! Enough to make a pie would cost a ludicrous amount). They had a few fruit trees too: apples, pears, peaches, cherries...even though they lived in the city, they had a decent sized lot and grew a bunch of stuff. My grandpa was always sticking every seed and branch he found in the ground and surprisingly got a lot of that random stuff to thrive. He even brought back some poppy seeds from India and grew those in his yard...pretty sure he didn't quite realize what he had there (or maybe he did, I don't know lol).

You...ate flies? Ew. :P I never wanted to eat bugs or worms (although I kept trying to bring them in as pets and my mom hated it) but I get it with the trying to eat weird stuff. I really loved chewing on wax. Like from those wax candy things, shaped like soda bottles and with cola-flavored syrup inside of them. Or wax lips. Or the wax coating on those little Babybel cheeses. I would get as much of it as I could wadded together, thoroughly chewed, and shape it into stuff. Man, kids are weird. (I totally don't have a little bit of a craving for some nice chewy wax now...not at all... >_>)

Jay Leno, just one of many great comics who laugh at themselves. And a southpaw to boot.

My experience is limited to his Tonight Show openings, but one Headline stuck with me. A beautiful lapse of judgement, "Used Fireworks". The difference one syllable left out made!

Eddie Izzard! Hands down, no hesitation, no contest, HE IS THE BEST in my personal opinion. Especially from his "Dress to Kill" tour, but I love pretty much everything he's done. Christopher Titus is the runner up to my number one favorite comedian, I wouldn't exactly say he's a close runner up, but I DO really enjoy his material, I've even seen him live. (Which was honestly one of the most uncomfortable experiences of my life, we were mistakenly seated at a front row table, and it was a pretty full show, and even without current problems being taken into account, I could not be paid to go to a live comedy show again.)

Wow, I don't even have one of those anymore. One million years ago I would have said Greg Proops. Some might remember him from Whose Line is It Anyway (short guy, glasses, curly hair; a highish, kind of nasal voice), but before that he was just one of the San Francisco comedians trying to make it and I always found him hilarious. But I haven't paid attention to comedians in years. So... I guess I can say that my favorite comedian is still Greg Proops. XD

Today's question: Do you talk to yourself?

My answer All the damn time lol. I'm fully conscious of it and only do it when I'm alone (or with my pets...I talk to them constantly) and I think it's pretty normal and healthy, but I have this nagging feeling that I should try to break this habit since my phone might be spying on me (if not now, then in the near future) and I don't care to give advertisers or the NSA or some random hacker/scammer who may be listening any free information. It really helps to crystallize my thoughts and get them in order though so it's hard to give it up. I like to sort of engage in a whole conversation with podcasts; it helps me grasp the subject and find my position on topics. Ok maybe I am spending too much time alone. I'd blame it on 2020 but I have always been this way. >_>
