Awesome! Tools! Do you have to bring your own, or do they supply those?
We're encouraged to bring our own, and the shop has to loan out. I'm certain to have the full list. I started buying two years ago, I have a copy of the tool list. My collection is a mash-up of brands and types, some are able to buy complete sets.
My husband was the same way. He's bought a lot of his tools at estate sales and such. He has since bought sets of certain things that he uses a lot, but for the most part, still has the same tools he used when he was younger. He really takes care of the things he has. It is important to him.
Taking care of stuff is so important! Hubby and I are still "arguing" about a screw driver I said was my dad's (that hubby lost) and he claims he never had it. Order is not a high priority for him, G Bless him. My dad had all his tools on a peg board with the outlines on it (if I remember correctly from my childhood). LOL at least no one can accuse me of marrying "my father" type LOL
Too many quests; getting me nutty. You still can't change your HA's wardrobe? Ugh! Did you try clearing your browser's cache?
I heard from I am so relieved!!!!
@ I imagine having tools all from the same company s a nice way to view them, but I imagine having the better ones from each is also a good way. I am sure you are very organized about it.
How are you doing Mary?
I am back in quarantine, again! My son tested positive. He told me to take a test, I said NO. I am trying to close off the panic.
: My Author is a tool nut. He started purchasing tools as a freshman in high school, always SK brand because they were made in the USA and guaranteed for life. He is nearing 65 and still has every single tool he ever bought and has two tall red tool carts jammed with every kind of screwer and wrencher and socketifier, that SK ever made. And They're Not Even ELECTRIC! (he has all those things too, drillers, sawers, routificators, sandulators and plantificators.) The funny thing is, he's not even a tradesman, he is a retired chemistry and physics teacher and a retired Respiratory Care Practitioner. But he loves tools and he can use them and he takes care of them and wipes them down after use, oils them, feeds them, and tells them bedtime stories at night. He respects the tools. His motto always has been, "You should never have to purchase a tool twice." I think he has even engraved his tools with his name, runes, lines from epic poetry, pink fluffy unicorns and warning symbols and curses for others who would take his tools out of the chest and use them carelessly without his permission or blessing. His children are in their 40's and they walk wide paths around his tool chests with fear and trepidation. Mind you, his tools are used, they're not pristine, many motor car engines have been torn down and brought back into submission under the ministrations of his tools. Many a lawnmower has been resuscitated, many a washing machine has coughed up stolen socks, and many fence boards have been screwed in his capable paws, and the tools speak of these things with fond memories.
One day, his daughters and grandchildren will inherit those tools. He just hopes that he is dead before they sell them off for pennies at a garage sale.
So, with absolutely no understanding at all of what all the fuss is over the collecting of tools, I say to you, good luck with your classes, have fun collecting tools and let me know if you want the name and address of the person I know who knits little wool bedtime blankets for each drawer of your tool chest(s)
Day 18 a Bathhouse token...
Extended quest-a-thon, I can see that goal being met. Though what would I do with a second ?
I am careful with my tools, neatly tucked in my boxes. A wise man told me "Don't blame the tools". The only thing more exciting than buy them, is breaking them in.
I read a sci-fi book Called the Practice Effect (David Brin I think). Cool idea, that tools get better as you use them, and decay if not used. So a shack would turn into a mansion if all the people in it used it extensively. Neat idea.
Nope, still can't change my HA. Haven't thought of clearing the cache....thanks!
EDIT: Not a single Morty Card.

: I like that idea! I only wish it were true. My house gets so much use from all my children and their mates ( I cannot wait to have grandchildren...I am going to spoil the ever-living stuffing out of them to spite my offspring ) that my house should have become Buckingham Palace or something like it by now. But I guess there's no space monster that can emit practice-rays on this world...I'd like to read that book though.
I was a David Brin fan for a while. Interesting ideas. My son says he doesn't read "old fashioned" sci fi. Yeesh. I still Read "City" (written in the 50s). I think of as my favourite book of all time. So relevant today, when we seem to have gotten into a muddle with technology that we (the Human Species) are not mature enough to use... How are you all?
It looks like t didn't work :/ Bummer! PS Did you write a ticket about it? Mine seems to be hokey with the skins, but though it doesn't show up in the wardrobe it appears to show up here. shrug
: We are all doing just fine, considering. I'm helping Weldon clean out the i[/i] kitchen and reorganize (another thing I'm not very good at...) everything. I'm working on preliminary sketches for Inktober 2020. I have 31 little drawings that I want to do to illustrate a little story that happened to me when I was a wee child when I first helped my Mommy host a big tea party for some important people. (It ended up with me dunking my little friend Bretton in a mud puddle in full view of the entire party...not quite the lady-like thing to do to impress the head of the Woodland Council). I will ink those drawings in during October and post them online each day. In the mean time, there's a lot of drawing to do.
I'm also outlining the fourth book in my Glen Meadow series and nearly have that story completely mapped out. I'll start fleshing out the first draft during November and December. I haven't found an agent yet, but I am still looking.
My Author Mark is OK, he and Francine are well and they are also working on de-cluttering their home. They've come to the realization that they just have collected way too much stuff and that it is now time to foist it upon their children! You know, two sets of dishes is one thing, but when you've inherited your auntie's two sets and your grandmother's two sets and your uncle's two sets...it's that kind of thing. They have a garage full of things that they haven't seen for years. Mostly prized junk. Time to Let It Go! (They say it's harder than it sounds.)
The weather in California has been hot and the air smokey, but we're safe for the time being. We keep cool by swimming, resting during the heat of the day and enjoying the cool mountain breezes in the evenings.
I'm a big fan of some of the older SF authors, I was particularly fond of Anne McCaffrey and her Dragon Rider series. I read all of the Foundation Series by Asimov and much of Bradbury's stuff. Greg Baer wrote one of my most favorite books, Eon about finding a spacecraft that tied many alternate universes together in a single line. There's a lot of great stuff out there and it's all worthy of a re-read. So tell your son that the new writers are standing on the shoulders of the old writers...(grin).

I sent your comment to my son :) I think I didn't read that Greg Baer book. There was a book Inherit the Stars by James Hogan (I read 3, I just found out there is 4 & 5.)
Thank you for the ping! I wouldn't of known about the free gift otherwise :)
We are in quarantine again (this is my third time!). My son tested positive to corona. He noticed yesterday he can't smell anything. That is his only symptom, the headache & fever he had for a day and a half went away when he started drinking more water during the day. I am praying none of us show any symptoms so we can get back to "normal" next week.
I'm so sorry to hear that. =( I hope your out of quarantine soon. I'm getting My Leg taken care of through out patient surgery.I have to take a corona virus test 4 days before I have to get my leg done.I am not looking forward to that. Not at all.

Yeah, it's not pleasant from what I heard, but it passes. Better than hurting a long time. My daughter and her fella flew to Texas last week, they postponed their flight by 2 days to get a corona test done. When they come back they will have to go into quarantine. I hope your surgery goes easy and the test not be too difficult.
