I mean, let&;s be honest here folks: It&;s for money. Subeta wants to make more money.</p>
<p>Why do we have the subscription scheme now? To make them more money. Why did they roll it out JUST before a Quest-A-Thon that (<em>gasp!</em>) basically REQUIRED you to have a Gold Account to be able to win the big prizes? Money.</p>
<p>Why did Subeta start allowing custom overlay pets to be eligible for Pet Spotlight. Ding ding ding: money.</p>
<p>Frankly, I&;m seeing a big swing towards &quot;pay to enjoy&quot; processing here on Subeta and it&;s really really sad. After the Morostide fiasco with disabled Subetans being unable to complete the games like everyone else due to them being inaccessible to folks with certain disabilities, it&;s being made really obvious that Subeta is now catering to a specific type of player.

Because it would stink to pay money for something and not be able to win for it?

I'm really not understanding what this post has to do with changing CW prices and rules when it's pretty likely pricing would go down. Or do you mean staff is stalling bc CWs make (made?) so much money for the site and they're loathe to lose it?

Yes, that's my insinuation. It makes them a crapton of money to charge so much for CWs that, especially now with Keith openly discussing how they're attempting to balance the budget of the site during quarantine, they are likely stalling. Everything that's in the queue right now is still going to be charged at the normal prices, and I would not be surprised if they're banking on that. Keith has already said in other forums on the site that certain things are being prioritized over others, and one of those is the site budget, so after seeing that response being given to other site issues (IMHO site issues that should be dealt with immediately, like transphobic and racist stuff popping up), I have a very bad taste in my mouth and a bad feeling about why not a single Staff member is touching this.

While that's a possibility I think that's unlikely. If keith wanted to maximize profits he never would have mentioned lowering prices. The very fact he mentioned that prices would drop doomed their profits to drop at a visible rate until they fixed pricing. Many artists and submitters are practically boycotting releasing new items until the prices are updated. You can see people are submitting fewer CWs than ever before.

Plus, I've had items submitted since the 22, 24, and 25 of August and another submitted this month lol so that'd be easy money for them to get if their goal was approving as many items as they could before the change. I honestly think the lack of movement has been a mixture of covid wrecking people's real lives, lack of funds, lack of proper communication, and the loss of staff/rehiring old staff that then need to be filled in.

As for transphobic and racist content - unless it's posted by staff/official content there's not much staff can/should do besides warning/banning the users depending on the severity. They already have clear rules in place for stuff like that - and even if they didn't - something like that shouldn't take the site's official CW/artist team to fix. It should be handled by the staffers that deal with reports/warnings/forums/etc...and depending on the severity keith himself. And all of those staff seem to have had very little (if anything at all) to do with the current CW update. If you feel that something isn't being taken seriously - you can always report it and ask for staff attention. But...I seriously doubt it'll be rah or jessi who answer as one is, if memory serves, the head of the artist staff while the other is in charge of cw approvals.

A member of staff was rehired for this. That probably means Keith and others were busy and couldn't work on this project. But it also means that they DO want to see progress on this, and that they spent money specifically to get this going.

appears to be very hard at work on this. She just got her hands on this though, and has asked us for some time to get to it. Yes we've been waiting a while, but it's not her fault we've been waiting a while. So I'm very keen to give her the time she's asked for. Especially since she's a previous staff member and a lot of us know her well. If she said she's going to do it, it's going to get done. I know from the past she's a very hard worker. I am confident we're going to see changes on this. Don't know when, but we will.

Echoing what has said here. While I, too, am frustrated by how long it's taken for anything to happen, since was rehired we have seen actual movement happening (as far as we can without being in the group). She's proven to us time and again that when she says something will be done, she does it. We now know that she's already presented the clarified list of ideas that need feedback to the council, has gotten some of that feedback from them, and has responded with more clarification or adjustments already based on that feedback.

I'm very happy to give her some time to continue to work before I press for news because I can see she's actually working on things. Prior to that, we weren't seeing any conversations from staff beyond "thanks for joining and we're getting it all ready to discuss" - so in the short time Jessi has been back on staff she's already showing us the same level of dedication to getting work done that she gave us in the past.

I don't think the site is even remotely close to pay to play yet (though I agreed that the top 100 was unfair given the fact that GA users had a leg up on it, and I would've preferred to see a "do X amount of quests by the end" to get it instead). None of the things mentioned are mandatory to enjoy the site. I have a lot of criticisms for how some things are inaccessible to the vast majority of users, but those things are really not related to paying to play at all (and, in fact, the bits that seemed like p2play - like prizes for 5 wins with CS opponents - were all adjusted to make them less p2play).

- Nah, not a couple of years! Actually this day last year was my 'last day', so I basically stayed away a little less than a year before I just missed you guys too much ;)

That being said - I still missed a LOT in a year, so thank you for the list! I've bookmarked it, that is so very helpful! I really appreciate it! Little things like that will make everything come together smoothly.

Wow was it really just a year?! My sense of time is ALL kinds of messed up. XD Anyway, glad to be of some help, so stoked to see all these changes picking up steam! Good luck getting the wrinkles ironed out. :)

I hate to get on here and push, because I understand things are in flux right now with the fires and Keith being on vacation, but we've gone another 10 days without really any demonstrable progress given to the public part of the site.

I've seen even more artists and releasers leaving the market and I know decisions have to wait on Keith to get back, but I would really love it if we had any kind of progress to mark what's going on. We're about to enter the really busy holiday season and it's making me very worried when we're not getting close at all to the daily goals. I know that the lack of submissions (because I know submissions are down) is partly to blame for that and I'm just worried the site is going to get to a point where not enough people will come back to the market even with the changes if we keep not getting any information/progress =/

To add onto what reaper said a couple days ago - what worries me isn't just the lack of public updates (or even private updates since everything has been moved to discord and we can no longer check forum posts) but also the fact we were told they were still adding people to the cw council, but haven't. Supposedly, the CW council has been given even more work to do now that everything is up to them...and they still have the same number of people as they did prior to this extra workload...unless I'm completely mistaken?

I think, correct me if I'm wrong, we have numerous artists/submitters around the site that would love to help out and give their opinions/insight as well as make the cw council workload lighter. Anything to speed the process up.
