That's awesome! Those look really neat. Are you going to keep it or try to sell it?

I got the [item2=Oxblood DipDye] from Major Drills the day it came out, and there is still only me and one other that has it on offer.

I have a very senior kitty, she's 18, so I don't have pet insurance for her, however my parents have had it with the last 2 dogs they had and will get it for their new puppy. It has been really helpful and worth it for them!

I work in insurance myself, though not pet insurance so this is just a broad overview, but here is what I will tell you to look for and be aware of:

You should always look at the exclusions, they are the most important things to be aware of in an insurance policy.

Also insurance is meant to be used for really large or extreme situations. You don't want to be using it for $1,000 dollars here or there, or the occasional surgery, especially when you have that many cats. You want to use it for extreme situations like serious illness or disease, cancer or that sort of situation.

I hope that helps you with your decision and thank you for helping all those kitties!! :)

Thank you so much for the information, you have been very helpful. Now that you explained about how insurance should be used, it makes sense, to not get it for my situation. I’m glad to help all the kitties :) I just wish more people that can, would! Your kitty really is a very senior girl <3 I find it pretty amazing that she has had such a long life, great job on that mama! You can tell that she has been well cared for, and, very loved. Thank YOU for that! <3 (((Huggs)))

Spooky made it through surgery well. The vet said it was much worse than it looked. Once they shaved all the long hair off of his foot, they found 3 small puncture wounds, and, a sizable hole. It was very infected, that’s why it was so swollen, and bursted. It must have been going on longer than we knew :( He has to go back 1-3 more times, depending on how quickly he heals. Ugh, more expense! I have heard that extracting a cats teeth can be quite expensive!poor babies, do you have to have them on a liquid diet? (((Huggs)))

Thank you for all you do for the kitties!! <3 <3 (((Huggs)))

It is! I have found that there are a few people here in the CWF, and, on Subeta that do the same. It makes my heart happy! I do wish that people would become more responsible in pet ownership, have their pets spayed or, neutered. The are just so many pets in the shelters, and on the streets. It is so sad!

By the time most of you read this, it will be Friday! I hope it's the start of a great weekend for you all!

So glad Spooky is doing well! I hope he recovers quickly and won't need as much follow up care as they think. I seem to remember you mentioning you had one with FIV. Is that Spooky or another kitty?

Our General was diabetic with FIV. He took insulin shots so well -- it was amazing. When he would hear me rolling the bottle, he'd come running to get his shot because he new it meant he'd get some dry food with it. He never cried or flinched over the shots, though I cringed twice every day over it until he left us! Anyway, my point was going to be that he lived just over 10 years even with FIV, and did not infect our other guys. I'm glad we didn't let the vet scare us into quick decisions about him.

The 15 year-old kitty we have now, who has only three teeth left, still loves dry food, even though she can't crunch it well. I've tried moistening it, but she refuses to eat it unless it's hard! She's so stubborn! She seems to get it broken up enough to not be a problem digesting it, but I do make sure her diet is heavy on the soft food so she doesn't need much crunchies. I supplement her diet with the new cat soups they are making now. She loves them and they are so easy for her to nom.

I'm so sorry to hear about Spooky! I hope he's feeling better! My mom actually works for a vet and I know a bit about pet insurance (I also have it for my dog Annie). Usually you pay a monthly fee and it will cover most non-routine costs beyond whatever deductible you set (so annual vet check ups and preventative medicines like flea & tick treatments or vaccines are usually not covered). Some companies offer an optional wellness plan that you can get in addition to regular pet insurance that covers those routine costs but I feel like you don't really save any money by doing that. Also, you'd have to get it for each individual cat, I think. I haven't heard of any blanket coverage options.

Hi, you are such a kind and wonderful person, poor Spooky! ((((Hugs))) They have an insurance here in Oklahoma called Care Credit for people or pets and you can make payments instead of having to come up with it all at once.

Maybe you could set up a Go Fund me account for all of the cats that you help? There are a lot of caring people out there just like you that would donate to a great cause. Health care should not cost so much, there is so much greed in the world.

that is so nice of you to take care of the kittys too 🐱 so nice of you to share your items :)

you are all in my thoughts, prayers and in my heart. I love you! ❤ ((((Hugs)))) ❤

I hope everyone is enjoying Morostide

I love seeing all of the avatars everyone is making. Have an amazing day! Byeeeee!

. I think it's so wonderful and kind that you're caring for neighbourhood feral cats. Is the vet giving you a discount at all knowing what you're doing? I live in Australia, so my advice is probably not relevant to the US. Here, it's pretty bad and the industry has won a shonky award with one of our consumer affairs magazines. They do give some tips to know about pet insurance which I think would still be relevant to the US.

I'll copy and paste parts of the article that might help you decide. Sorry if this is a long post.

  1. it can get expensive. And it can be confusing – there are lots of tricky exclusions and variations between policies that mean you really need to read the fine print to avoid your claim being rejected.

  2. You should buy it when your pet is young (from three months old) The way most policies are structured means that premiums increase as your pet ages. In addition, once your pet is eight years old, you'll have a much smaller selection of policies available to choose from, and usually only ones with accident-only cover.

  3. Once you choose a provider, you're pretty much stuck with them. This is mainly because your pet will age and may have since developed a pre-existing condition that won't be covered by a new policy. Pet insurance providers currently have no legal obligation to maintain the competitiveness of your policy and can make any changes they like when you renew annually

  4. There are lots of exclusions, low limits and caps. The policies in our pet insurance reviews are either basic accident-only cover or more comprehensive accident and illness cover, or they may be illness-only, or only cover some specifically stated events.

Comprehensive policies usually cover surgery, hospitalisation and medicines, but things such as dental care, vaccinations, desexing and preventative treatment are usually not included (some pre-existing conditions and sometimes hereditary conditions are usually also excluded.

You should always check the amount of co-payments, excesses and caps. For example, most policies have a cap of around $300 on veterinary consultation fees (which you'll spend quite quickly if your pet has a chronic illness).

  1. Add-ons for routine care can be good value. Most policies offer an optional add-on for 'routine care' which will cover things like vaccinations, worm and flea prevention and one-off costs such as desexing (some policies do have it included). It's not very expensive to add on (usually around $100) and if you make use of it, it can offer good value. It's also an incentive to make those regular trips to the vet and give your furry friend the best care possible.

With all policies, it's important to shop around as the cost varies widely, but ensure you are comparing apples with apples, keeping an eye on co-payments, excesses and exclusions. You need to make a careful decision as it's really hard to switch once you've committed to a provider.

That's the end of the copy and paste!

Hope everyone is having fun in the second wave of Morostide!
