Back to the topic, strangely enough I must have seen the overlay at some point earlier. It feels like deja vu. I don't know what caused Firefox ESR to not display it at some point.

Yes, back on topic, that might be something that needs to be added to the overlay upload page, about making sure to not rely on browser-saved images when uploading, or whatever the technical mumbo-jumbo is.
