Back when I was volunteer dog walking for the local rescue centre, I was bitten by a Staffie I was walking - the staff told me it was "just a play bite" (the dog was highly excitable and really wasn't suited to being walked by someone with such limited experience as I had!). I went to the walk-in centre just to get it checked over, as the bite had broken the skin on my leg and also I had some marks on my arms where he'd jumped up at me. I was told I didn't need a tetanus shot (apparently from when I had mine as a youngster, they don't need topping up like they used to??), but it shook me like crazy, so I know how that feels (although it obviously is going to be worse when it's your own dog that did it!)

Maybe there's a way of giving Amelia some more time just with you, without the young whippersnapper kitties being in the same room, just so she doesn't feel she's either jealous of them or feeling that she needs to defend "her human" from them? Kind of thinking it from her side of things, there's been quite a big change (the move, the different cats) in a reasonably short timescale, so maybe she hasn't quite got settled with everything?

I am so sorry to hear about Amelia. It could def. have been a guarding situation, or maybe she got startled. I hope things work out for both you and Amelia. squishes

thanks. I like this stage too :) I'm going for a vial next and am hoping I can still get one last longer strain afterwards lol. But if not it's okay. I think the vials are about 16-17 hours so in theory it should work.

Yes, that's what I basically told mum and Dad. I'm not wanting to be rash. I don't really want to give her up for many reasons. I spoke with the vet's office and they basically told me what I was more or less thinking. The situation was a textbook way to get bit. So I won't put too much stalk in this at the moment but we're still going to have to figure out a solution. I do think my mum's kind of wanting me to give her up but maybe that's her first reaction as it was her child who was bit. I spoke with the doc's office and we'll see if they think it needs to be seen. I don't think it really does at the moment though. I washed it and put antiseptic on it and then wrapped it up with a bandage so I just need to check it daily for signs of infection... at least that's my thought. I hope they don't suggest a tetanus shot though. Last one I had caused a bad reaction so not really wanting that again

My Mum was really going off on one about the dog and the staff when I was bitten, so that's perfectly understandable for your Mum.... but this is the first time Amelia has ever bitten any of you, yeah? So it's totally out of character for her in normal circumstances. That's sensible - hopefully the doctor will say that was enough, or at least let you send a photo of it so they can see it without the hassle of you having to get there! I know some of the rescues around here have some guidance available for getting cats used to a new dog - maybe where you got Carmen from could help with some advice for how to get Amelia settled with a (relatively) new cat?

I think taking some time to think things over and maybe look for some solution sounds wise. Like Paddy said, it seems out of character for her. I know its doesnt feel great when your pet shows signs of aggression., had to deal with that with my friends dog. She never bit me, but she would growl and show teeth sometimes. o-o Best of luck dear and hope you heal well too and dont need that extra shot!

I am not able to customize my pets at all on my main, I think I need to remove a lot of items for it to work. Which is a pain in the rear when you have over 2000 items in your closet. :P

have you tried since they added in the automatic timeout if it doesn't load quickly? I couldn't get it to work for some of my pets at all originally, but since they added that in it seems to work (and that's without removing any items from my closet. I don't have the patience to sort through that many! :P)

Just tested again out of curiousity.. I could get my cybunny to load at least. :O For my kacheek, only her eyes, eyebrows and rosy cheeks will show up. Looks so weird. lol

Yay on the cybunny, but that's so weird on the kacheek.... I wonder if it's down to the colour, or if all Kacheeks would have the same problem?

Maybe it's just personalities - Carmen's still finding her feet in fitting in with everyone, so it could be that her true personality hasn't really shown through yet (especially given the recent vet visits) and Amelia was just getting cranky?

I guess she could feel like she's in charge, so when she feels they're getting a bit too wound up and frantic, she feels the need to tell them off? (a bit like a granny wanting to yell at young children who are running round and getting more & more excitable?)
