Comforatable and loose seems to be the way to go. A pair or two of comfortable sneakers perfhaps with memory foam might be a good idea to pick up also,

I agree with everything that's been said -- loose, oversized clothing! My co-worker wore a lot of dresses or long sweaters & leggings.

It’s all about the kaftan and moomoo dresses when you’re pregnant! I personally like the patterns on kaftans more and they are meant to be flowy/loose fitting so you can even wear them when you are no longer pregnant!

Maternity clothes various types and on a low budget ;)

Also, look into shopping at thrift stores. Sometimes you can find large clothing or maternity clothing at considerably lower prices ;)

Then there's invading hubby's wardrobe... but he might complain :P

It is time to stop looking good for a long time! If I were you, I would just wear maternity stretch pants or comfy pants. As wlel as socks and crocs, slippers or sandals. And regular soft blouses. Bye bye style, hello maximum comfy.

i have like negative executive function so i am the KING of wearing the same clothing repeatedly. here's my lil list. obv make sure everything on her is loose and comfy, but also a design that you like so you'll actually want to wear it :p

  • t-shirt dress (i am in fact wearing mine right now, it's solid black with a cool little strap across the neckline so it's extra goth. its one of my favourite things, its so comfy & easy to wear)
  • a t-shirt or two (my 2 faves say "what part of aeuifwygcwiy don't you doeberstat" and "star worm")
  • pj shorts for hanging out at home in, or pants if you prefer
  • tank top
  • a bottom of some sort that you can wear outside (skirt, jeans, pants, w/e)
  • sweater/overshirt/hoodie/shawl, something of your choice to wear on your arms if you get cold. if you get a big hoodie/have ones already, that's something that can last out of pregancy cause those are cosy for always
  • another dress or two probably, maybe one that's slightly fancier that you can pull off as a fancy dress if you need to, but still comfy
  • slip shorts!!! these are my saviour re: chub rub. i have like 8 pairs bc i always lose them but you probably only need like 2 or 3. leggings also work if unlike me youre not aiming to constantly be wearing as little clothing as possible while still being decent and comfortable
  • also underwear obv. amount of underwear should correlate to how frequently you're willing to do laundry. i own like 40 pairs
  • tights are also good since youll be pregnant during the winter time, good to pair w the dresses to keep your legs warm. leggings are also good here. i prefer leggings bc i hate having things on my toes. my toes must be free. if you do go with tights though, pro tip, layer your slip shorts over them. i do this when i wear tights for costumes, and it helps a) keep the tights from slipping or twisting b) keep you from wearing holes in the tight crotch and c) stops your legs from rubbing through the tights if they're thinner

the secret with all these clothes other than the jeans is you can sleep in them!! you don't have to change your clothes to go to bed or buy seperate sleep clothes! (since idk abt you but i consider pj pants to be home wear and i only change out of them when going outside, which i do maybe once a day now since my SO moved in and has started taking me on walks. but if you're wearing a dress you don't have to change at all.)

When my sister was pregnant, a lot of stores (like target, kohl's) had meager selections for maternity clothes. It seems like now that has changed and they are a bit more.

I know my sister primarily wore dresses because of their ease and wearability after (I think she wore a lot of lula roe dresses.) but if you prefer clothes with more structure to them then you'll have to shop around and try things on.

Stretchy waist pants and dresses that are easy to wear like t-shirt or wrap dresses are a good idea. Also, since it's going to be cold soon, big sweaters and hoodies.

Try Amazon!

Clip down tops for breastfeeding, nursing ponchos, and nursing scarves. I think ponchos are super cute to wear in general, pregnant or not. Also, while it is important to be comfortable, you shouldn’t have to sacrifice looking good with the wide availability of cute maternity clothing. You’ll want maintain your identity as an individual (versus having it totally obscured by motherhood), and it may be helpful to your confidence to feel happy with your appearance while your hormones are going nuts.

I would invest in a few key quality pieces, but I agree that you don’t want to get too many things that will only be wearable with your body at a very specific size.

There are tons of great shirts and dresses that are empire waisted to allow for growing baby! Also definitely look for the maternity stretchy pants - You will end up loving them and not wanting to go back to regular pants! 😆 I continued to wear a lot of maternity clothes for a while after giving birth, so you may end up using things longer than you expected. Two of my favorite places for maternity clothes that don't break the bank are Target and Baby Gap (so many cute things at Baby Gap!).

Sounds like everyone has covered everything I was going to suggest LMAO! Pretty much leggings with an oversized T-shirt or baggy sweaters in the winter. Or loose flowy dresses work too. The main thing is being comfortable and being able to go to the bathroom easily. Also, make sure your footwear is easy to slip on and off... in the latter months, you won't be able to tie your shoes!

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!

Keeping in mind that I am not a mum, but I would think comfy dresses, cardigans etc is a must. :D You can even find some really nice things second hand- or at affordable places like HM. :) Have fun shopping. ^_^

I had Bump Bands when I was pregnant.. just a stretchy band of fabric that you wear under your top. That meant I could still wear my regular clothes but the extra fabric covered any skin that I might have been showing.

Other than that as per everyone above I wore lots of leggings, baggy tops, dresses etc. Stretchy/comfy bras and undies are essential too.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. I've been meaning to post here.

When I was pregnant I wore sweatpants like pants,(stretchy pants) I could not wear jeans at all. Though I am a heavy set girl. They do have maternity jeans but they are expensive. You can also make your own form older jeans if you have some you don't care for. All you need is stretchy fabric and someone who can sow lol.

Mostly the sweatpants I wore I still wear even after my first. I am also expecting my second hoping everything goes well/high risk myself and will do the same.

All in all don't buy something you will maybe only wear once for sure and possibly can still wear after.

There are some Pajama pants that look like normal ones. I also wore those :).

Dresses are comfortable but I after a while mine didn't fit anymore but my sweatpants still did. I had "hips for days" as my husband says. Hah.

Also for sure second hand stores also do carry maternity stuff for way less. It's worth to check out.

Definitely make sure nothing is ever tight. Be comfortable for you and your little one <3

Best wishes on your pregnancy!

I'll try posting here again sometime.

i would pretty much suggest the same as all the others. loose and comfy. stretchy pants/leggings and either a cool baggy t-shirt/top and/or jumper. hard to know exactly what to suggest, so that's a pretty general idea and probably not that creative or helpful. i know with the clothing i buy i tend to go for simple basics and when they're a bit too worn out for leaving the house in, i just turn them into house clothes, or layer them under something else. so maybe try not to think too much while you're shopping of 'oh i'll only wear it for this long' but keep in mind you can always re-purpose it (or re-sell it!) later on. thrift shops have been mentioned, and i guess there'd also be heaps of mum's selling items online that they wouldn't wear anymore so you'd probably find a few bargains there as well.

When I was pregnant, I wore the jeggings from Walmart. Paired with a over sized sweater during the winter months, my ex hubby's t-shirts during the early spring, and some tank tops I found at Goodwill just before I gave birth in late May. I think once or twice I wore a maxi dress but I'm not a typical dress wearing girl unless it's a special occasion. More jeans/shirts or pj's all day type of girl!

For footwear, I wore sneakers with insoles in them until preeclampsia took over and then I wore crocs or sandals. The best socks I found were Men's Fruit of the Loom low cut socks because my feet were so swollen women's socks wouldn't fit me.

Sports bras were my best friend. I had a couple that had removable padding in them. When I found I couldn't breastfeed, the pockets helped hold the ice packs for me. Plus they were comfortable enough to sleep in too.

I'm sure if you have facebook..there may be some clothing on marketplace or within local buy/sell groups. Goodwill/thrift stores are a good place too. Then there's always Walmart or your local clothing store.

and everyone playing fun within the Baby On-The-Way Party - I am so very late with my thank you for the wonderful Grand Prize gifts give away. I was travelling the past week and just now checked in see the email from Aug 22. THANK YOU Evalynn!

This weeks give-a-way: I think it is the best time to hit up the Thrift Stores to see what you can get for such a short period of time for maternity clothes. Growing room is what you need for a clothing style. Let us know if you find some bargains and what you get!

I would go with loose casual cotton dresses to wear. I also suggest casual pants that are loose-fitting and stretch. I recommend the breezy sundresses, the cotton henley dresses, the v-neck knit dress, tunics, loose-fitting cardigans and henley nightshirts like what they are selling at Amerimark. Its located on the Anthony Richards section of the site. The tunics you would have to look at carefully, as not all are loose-fitting.

You might be able to find the other types of clothing I listed for sale elsewhere, but Anthony Richards is the only ones that sell those loose, breezy sundresses. Those dresses are also easy to wash.

Like a good neighbor, stay over there!

this probably wouldn't take you to full term but maybe a medium option - I found a google image just now looking up "stretchy yoga pants" but that isn't a completely perfect description of what I'm trying to describe. I got some stretchy black pants some years back that still suit me well. They are slack-like enough I wear them to the office - especially on a bloated type day.

They were put to the test while I had some issues in 2018 that led to water retention of over 15+ pounds for about a year before resolved. I am so glad I had these (got 3 pairs) instead of either wearing uncomfortably tight slacks or getting a couple new pairs when I knew I hadn't gained true weight. Wish my doctors had figured it out faster - but that is a whole different story, now resolved.

Anyway, I probably could have gained 30 pounds before these would have been too tight.
