Hmm. No experience with baby tubs. Getting something that you could throw into a sink as a liner seems like a really easy way to keep things simple. But overall, safety is best. Something easy to clean. Something that withstand a lot of use. Something that won't take up too much space.
In a baby tub I'd look for a stand alone unit with a thermometer (temperate gauge), with a single solid piece construction so bacteria will not grow in corners etc. :)

I really really extremely want:I'd use the kitchen sink or the laundry tub.
Going Fishing!!! 🐟
I used the Fisher-Price Whale of a Tub because it fit my nursery theme of Finding Nemo/Dory and it had decent reviews. As my daughter got older we used it as a place to keep her toys and she loves it. We're now using it with my son. I wouldn't recommend going with an expensive tub because they do grow out of them so quickly. Also remember you don't bathe baby in the beginning until their cord falls off. If you bathe an infant too much you can also dry out their skin. That's why I went with a cheaper tub.

In my opinion baby baths are a waste of time and energy. Filling up, moving it around, emptying it. I had a baby bath, only used it a couple of times. I used the sink for all three of mine or in the bath with me, so much easier and no back pain from lifting
I think safe is the best choice. I'd also pick one that will be easy for you to bathe the baby, there are plenty of options from plastic to ceramic and even some rubbery tubs you can put in your sink if it's big enough
look at 2 star and 4 star reviews. 1 and 5 star are just thoughtless often. but 2 and 4 put thought into things.
just my two cents. good luck!
Remembering stories from my childhood ... mom used the kitchen sink to bathe my older brother and then me. The height was just right and there was plenty of counter space to put things. She would use a big towel to pad the sink (no danger of slipping) and you just needed to wring it out and toss it in with the rest of the laundry, easy. :-)
Ideas to ask: meals that freeze well - you're NOT going to have the energy to cook for a few weeks so if you prepped ahead of time and stocked your freezer with ready to defrost / reheat, healthy meals, your time with the new baby will be that much more stress free
I'm old - so we did not buy baby tubs. We made sure the kitchen sink was nice and shiny, but a towel on the bottom, and put the baby in the sink.
I also used the kitchen sink for the first few months, although I did discover a baby boy can pee a stream from the sink and hit the refrigerator on the other side of the room. 😆
Yup agree with the other people who said reviews. I would read them and see what the pros and cons were. Then I would narrow it down to my favorite color.
I too, like Poppit's idea of the blooming bath! Very cute and it looks pretty safe!
Other contest ideas- nursery themes, baby shower games(unless you've got someone that's gonna surprise you with one), gender guessing, name ideas, diaper preference (cloth vs disposable). If I think of any others, I'll add to my list of suggestions.
In my opinion, get something that will grow with baby and don't spend a huge amount on it since babies grow fast. Here's a website that recommends various types...

I have never picked out a baby bathtub before. Just going to go with what others have said in terms of safety and comfort for the baby
Since I dont have any kids on my own, I would ask other parents out there if they have one they are happy with, look at reviews etc. :) I imagine you want something that will fit in your home easily, one that can easily be cleaned and of course safe for the baby. :)

I used something very similar to this bathtub for my daughter. I honestly can't tell you if I ever used the sling part, or if I just laid her down in the plastic part. I also don't remember ever using it at the kitchen sink, just in the regular bathtub. That first year was all a blur. We probably ended up using it until she was 3 or so.
so if baby is the size of a lemon, and sucks their thumb, does their thumb taste like lemonade? XDXDXD ah I'm hilarious.
Let's see, as a non parent my insight is purely inexperienced. As others mentioned I would definitely take family/friend recommendations, look into customer feedback and safety. And then... I would see if I could find one that looked like PIKACHU.
hmmm... now I have to search google images to see if such a thing exists. If not I'd get pink regardless of baby gender cuz I LOVE PINK.
. . .
no dice on the pikachu tub... but I would then get a pink tub and THIS!!!:

Oh my goodness - that TOWEL! <3 <3
Do you know - if my sink has a divider in it (like 2 sides) will it still fit in the sink like in that photo? My main thing is I want one that will work in the sink at first, so if that one goes across both sinks in a standard kitchen sink, that wouldn't be a bad price at all!
I've been trying to add those of you who have been religiously here every or most weeks as friends :) If I missed you (or if I couldn't find the friend button on your profile) - please feel free to add me! Not required, but definitely welcomed <3
I think my mom just washed her babies in the sink! Haha.
- I honestly don't know... I would think though that you could buy it, try it out, and then return it if it doesn't work out the way you want it too.
