I'm so excited!! I've been holding off fixing my current broken ones cause I knew I'd have to redo them all again. Thanks for the update!!
....edited to remove my dumb questions that were previously answered.
When I started reading this update, I was a little apprehensive about the modular thing ("user friendly" updates tend to irritate me when they oversimplify things - I'm looking at you, Windows 8), but in this case it sounds like you guys are working hard to consider every angle! I especially appreciate the legacy mode.
I understand you can't give an ETA, but what I'm wondering is how different the coding will be when it is completed. I recently cleared all my pet profile coding and would like to start designing a new profile template, but I don't want to start working on it if my efforts will soon need to be replaced. Conversely, I don't want to leave them with blank profiles for half a year or more. If I can anticipate the biggest differences, I can maybe work around those and only do the parts that wouldn't change, or something like that.
I'm confident the new system will be great, no doubts about that! Like I said, I'm super excited about it. I've just been playing with some very annoying but fun checkbox "hacks" that are probably questionable? 😅 It'll probably be fine though... probably. :)

BUTYEAH Looking forward to this! 💪 It might finally give me the swift kick in the ass I need to get into coding again.
I'm not crazy about profiles in "Legacy Mode" being uneditable (since I too like to update spotlight winners and so forth), but strings crossed that all my profiles will transfer to the new system okay. I'm just being a cranky old balloon afraid of change, ignore me :P
I'm looking forward to it very much. I've been playing around and trying to learn fancier CSS for some of my newer pets this month, but maybe I'll give them all some of the simple templates I already have while we wait for the update. I can't wait to see the modular system! Getting kinda excited about it! :''D
Like , I’m not too keen on being unable to edit legacy mode profiles. Some things are outside of our control, like image hosting or even links here on Subeta. So when those things change our profiles get fubared and if they don’t transfer to the new system in a reasonable manner we are SOL over otherwise small and easy to correct issues.
But I’m not a pet or profile person, so no great loss.
This is a good point that we hadn't thought of, and we'll discuss if there is something we can do about that. Thanks for bringing it up! :)
(Pinging as well since you expressed similar sentiments.)

Also proofreading fails that we might only notice years later. If it’s a day ending in y, it’s a day I cannot English.
I'm scared and excited about this at the same time. It sounds neat and easier to do - wow, just take your mouse and move something! I've wanted to do exactly that so many times! I just hope all my code doesn't break. I have 64 pets and all of them have profiles, so this is a major concern for me, as well as an awesome opportunity.
Will this make any impact on the nominated for spotlight pets? It sounds like I don't want to lock them into legacy, and I would like to transfer them when you are done so I can change them if I want later. But at the same time I don't want to lose the nominations.
Sounds like if it ends up similar to the user profiles, then it'll be fun for a coding newbie like me to be able to have a play around with! Looking forward to it, thanks for the update, and good job so far 👍

Very glad for the update! It'll be nice having a more modular system, though I am a little apprehensive as someone who prefers to do most things by tinkering in the html/css rather than dragging things around.
That aside, I'm glad progress is being made and I can't wait to see how this all pans out!
Fair enough! Thank you for keeping us up-to-date on this! I'm all for easier pet profile coding. Oh, one more thing:
For some reason right now with Elfric's profile, whenever I go to make changes on it, I get a constant cloudflare/captcha error that's really annoying. Will that too disappear in the new profile sysetem?

Very interested in pet profiles being upgraded -- the old/current ones seem very awkward looking -- like they're glitchy.
Quick Update! After discussing some good points brought up in this topic, we've decided to allow editing Legacy Mode profiles. We are still discussing the details of how this will work, but we agree there are good enough reasons to avoid locking you into Legacy Mode like that.
The OP has been edited to reflect this new info.

Yay for modularizing blocks of code <3 Thanks for all your work on this; I'm sure there will be a bit of a learning curve, but it will be worth it!
Thank you!!
So, if we still have broken profiles due to the more recent changes and we convert them to legacy mode will they convert as broken or will the conversion automatically fix them?
Legacy Mode is meant to preserve them as-is, so no, it won't make changes to your profiles at all.

oh thank god. resumes breathing My pets (even finished ones) do get changed and updated as I add new characters and places to their world. Plus I do updates when I change ids/names ect. So, not even major changes- links and text, but when not right make an otherwise great finished profile look untended.
I'm trying not to be nervous about this whole thing in general, lol. thanks for being so upfront :)
