Not necessarily. For the second training link it might be a good idea to use Speiro's suggestion of making it look just like the training center page since consistency makes sense in this case and make the new page immediately recognizable. It may be worth giving it a honeymoon period for people to get used to it and decide after that whether or not this is a useful new feature.
I think the navigation bar may need reconsideration. Someone (Speiro I think?) suggested having a different one that's more appropriate for the training context with fewer links, and I think that makes sense. I'd still like to see the navigation bar on the battle page go away since you only want the player leaving that page through the game over button unless there's some kind of weird bug that breaks it so badly a refresh doesn't fix it.
Oh... so the new layout might include a js training center that doesn't need to run through 3-4 links per pet? ;P
Dropping in to voice a big hellyeah @ Speiro's idea b/c they have better words than I do.
If there is any way to put that entire block with the pet stats, training info & pet image on the "your pet is done, new session plox?" page, with the formatting and everything? That'd be super neat.
I don't think the size of the pet images matters? I've resized mine and the site still displays only 4 pets per row no matter how big my window is. I would be absolutely down for having a "flexible" display, but I think Subeta's moving away from that with the new layout? 😕
- I'm biased, but I like these changes. The snap-to-pet will take a little getting used to, but overall training is much less frustrating on mobile.
The only thing I can think of for reducing scrolling while keeping the training center is to put the whole flavor text & NPC image into its own class so that users can remove it with customCSS. Or make it collapsible (like the different forums) or something? :'| I can only speak for myself, but I've been here for nearly 15 years, I have seen the training center thousands and thousands of times. I know Jim's speech by heart and I personally don't use (or need) autotraining info.
I think I'm really liking the changes, especially now that the training drop down thing has been fixed and it no longer has the wrong one selected. But I really need a few days at least to test it out and see what works quite well and what doesn't.
Generally I agree that the same info should be displayed in the same way on different pages, and yet I like that the two pages are different because it makes it immediately obvious where you are. Maybe keep the layout the same, but the coloring different?

I feel the same way, even after a couple days of trying to get used to this.

the only thing I ask is not to keep going back to the pet because I find it annoying to have to scroll back up when I&;m done training to get back to the site menus. It&;s weird, but scrolling down I&;m fine with but scrolling up is a little discombobulating. :)

Yes! I like being able to put them back in training on the same page I take them out, and jumping to the pet from the alert link is helpful more often than not, so I'm getting used to it. Jumping to the pet after I've put them back in, though, is almost never anything but annoying. If there are other pets I need to put in training, it costs me extra time remembering whether I need to go up or down next (and I agree that scrolling up feels a bit odd). If I'm done, pretty much all the links I would use to go elsewhere are at the top of the page. It's not helpful to me at all to be taken back to the pet I just finished with, and I would love if that part could be removed (or at least turned into a preference).
I don't get why when you click "train" it takes you to a new page telling you to click train again with all the same pet info that's on the main training page anyway? It's super redundant and SUPER annoying. I liked it better before when all I had to do was click train on both my pets and it did it.

Having a custom "sorting" page for the training center would be overly messy, so a toggle for the jump-to-pet would be nice! If possible, put it on the training page, just like how we have the autoselect option toggle when battling.
After getting used to the training over a few days, I like it, . Still not a fan of going back to the pet after setting an alert, but the rest is great. :)
It took me a bit to adapt to the new training page. I now like it and find it's faster than my old way of trying to click as many pets out of training as I could before the next page load. Having it remember which pet I left off on saves me on scrolling. I don't use alerts so this may color my opinion.
Could we get a little more whitespace between the stat menu dropdown and the Train button? On mobile I keep hitting the menu when I want the button and the button when I want the menu.
