I'm hoping the whole "I appreciate your sacrifice" joke bit from day 1 is some foreshadowing for a positive twist to happen wrt to the Dungarde needing that last heart. Maybe there will be some other solution!
or at least not a complete bummer ending.

I'm utterly unsurprised in how this is going, yet disappointed all the same. I can hope the plot ends on a less than bitter note, but I honestly wont hold my breath. We'll see. ¯(ツ)/¯

There's gotta be some kind of twist. This isn't spooky- this is just heartbreaking. I guessed something like this would happen ages ago but then we got theorying about Ian being possessed and having to help him and I had hope, dangit. And I still have a little hope that there's going to be a twist- that Jaxon's selflessness in choosing to save the dungarde over himself will mean something/do something, or that the dungarde will remember the gifts and your explanation about them and reveal some extra information as a gift, information that could help. Morostide would forever be tinged as "the tearjerker holiday" if this goes straight. (Definitely already had some tears jerked today.)

I'm pretty sure those events only happened due to the events of Jaxon's father. Perhaps the heart of Jaxon's father will be taken instead?

my theory
we go and look for jaxon's heart, then head back to the dungarde but ian takes the heart and tries to use it to save jaxon. something goes wrong, boss fight, we retrieve the heart, free the dungarde, and the "skedhu" manifests and restores the heart as an act of gratitude for making the right choice

that was my immediate and most fervent hope, minus the ian bit (a protagonist making the obvious bad decision bugs me more than anything else, idk)
i'm just questioning the pacing since it's a step every two days, and morostide ends on the 31st... are we going to be done on tuesday? that feels so fast ;o;

The battle challengers retire on November 4th, so it could be extended a bit for the plot. Just because Morostide ends doesn't mean the plot would have to end.
All that happens after Morostide is that Jaxon goes back to the spirit world or whatever, but he's already there so Morostide ending shouldn't change anything I guess.
we're not getting paid (outside of... uh, empty reliquaries, i guess) AND we paid for ian's prescription, his candy, coffee and pastries for two people, and a stack of magazines for the dungarde

that's true. it just seems a little awkward to have your halloween plot end after halloween, you know? but that's just me being picky 8)
