be amused. Kelly decided she needed a mechanical rift giraffe, which means she will probably have built one when I reopen the game. G-d only knows what she's using it for, but at least it's not a little spy drone which she is notorious for making...

I split up my wardrobe into drawers, which helps because then you can FIND everything. If you segregate all your pretty CWs in one place or go with the layer system and filter out non-CWs, you will be tempted to use just CWs. But if you split things up by function, you won't. My Dresses drawer is essential to my life because I have seen dresses on the body layer, the fullbody layer, the chest layer, and the overchest layer. I can't be arsed to remember which dresses were put on which layer and hate going into a panic when I can't find them because I guessed wrong; therefore, drawers.

Except for hair, which is almost all CWs, my current avatar is about 50% CW and 50% SP. I find that a lot of the SP makeup lines are really, really good, particularly if your avatar is a base darker than 4.

Many of the Delish outfits are weird and unwearable even by my fantastical standards, but they can be used effectively as accent pieces. The belt this avatar's wearing is from the Delish Ambition set, which I think is a hot mess worn as a set, but the belt is beautiful.

The Delish noses are a godsend, and the colourless lips, while people complain that they are often rather similar, actually are different. You can see this when you wear them with coloured lipsticks--they give different mouth shapes and expressions. They are excellent for giving male avatars mouths without lipstick and providing a better lip shape for female avatars--a lot of other lipsticks are barely more than colour spots in a rough mouth shape, and putting the lineart over them makes them much prettier.

For this character, Valiska, I use Delish Chilled Balm to give her lips shape, and layer it OVER a SubQ Dream Lip Souffle with a SubQ Sassy Lip Lacquer on top of it. Sometimes I will also use Delish Tarius lipstick, SubQ Junko Entropy Lipstick, Costume Trunk Mother Earth Leafy Lip Pigments, or Limited Edition Delish Syne Lip Stain if I want a colour that I can't get from the two sets of items I normally use. Her eyebrows are actually the Wax Strips from the Grooming Parlor, which are super cheap.

Her sleeves and train are from Steamworks. I'm not a big fan of the "gears on everything" variety of steampunk even though I'm into steampunk, but Steamworks is a super excellent place to get sleeves, collars, and trains that really change the look of an outfit. One of the reasons I love @Cresenta's bunner gowns so much I have like 30 of them, even though I rarely do a completely sleeveless/strapless avatar, is that they are amazingly customisable with sleeves, jewellery and occasionally collars, and also work well as skirts. I typically pair them with sleeves and trains that are often from Steamworks.

The stuff from Fine Fabrics and Five Seven Five is also great for layering with CWs as well as with matched items.

For buff avatars, Go Outside is the place to go for muscle definition and for male avatars, Go Outside has some of the best body hair.

In short, I rarely do an avatar without at least one CW in it, but I use other items that are available for SP all the time.

Also your explanation of how you do your character portrayals. I agree about the Delish lips, they are often the best for layering. But there's so very many options for lip items too.

For drawers, I use them to keep my lip items separate from eye items since both are on face layer. :D I do have a 'gowns' drawer too for long dresses because as you point out they are on a wide variety of layers.

As for using CWs, I think on the HA I had yesterday that a lot of people liked, the only CW was the dress you gave me.

Kelly is weird. Sometimes in a good way. Sometimes not. She's a minor NPC usually; her mother plays a much bigger role in the story than she does, usually. But she did get possessed by the Big Bad in the first part of the game, rather briefly.

I do have to use a lot of CWs on catte avatars because their hair and ears are usually not SP items. Valiska's hair has multiple layers. At first this was annoying af because I couldn't just slap a wig on her and be done, but now I wouldn't have it any other way because I can do things like put that bow in her hair so that it's actually on the back ponytail and not just pastede on yey and covering up her ears and hair ornaments. I think there are 3 SP-buyable items in Valiska's hair and ears (and they are from Steamworks and/or the cash shop) and the rest are CWs, plus her ears are a CW.

your HA is super cute

the layered hair always looks good. The ones I recognize are the Steamwork shop braided piled-up hair with the long braid over one shoulder thing, and the bow which is from Louis's shop. I don't know the CW items you have in her hair. I imagine you could make a similar cheaper hairstyle without the CW items but it wouldn't look as good!

well, the CW items vary according to how her hair is styled, but the base items that are always present are the Deadpan hair coupon, the CW Black Braid of Discipline, and the Steamworks braid you mentioned. This combination gives her the braids she wears that are meaningful, and covers the HA base ears which of course she does not have. But she has more hair than that. In the back there's usually Abyssal Scented Serum (old cash shop item) for when she's working or fighting and has it all bound up, or Licorice Latte Waves or Shiny Coins of Black Curls (CWs), and depending on what she's done with the rest of it, in front it can be 2-3 of any of a wide variety of items, and the ears go on top of all the hair usually. All in all this avatar usually has at least 6 hair items plus ears, + 5 layers of ink. Basically if I ever stop paying for a gold account I'm screwed because Valiska's base has 27 layers not counting clothing, jewellery and backgrounds and filters :)

true confession, most of my bases have around 15-20 layers, more if the character has scars, tattoos, prosthetics and such. I'm glad you like them!

I hardly ever use that many items! It's amazing :D
