"Ye should say nee not no," Zoe said sticking out her tongue playfully. She was grateful for the hug. Jona was so sweet.

Blade started drumming his fingers on the table to a complicated rhythm. The way his fingers moved suggested he was playing an instrument without the said instrument

The smaller Hufflepuff smiled at the small nips, before giving Duncan a small bowl of rice with a fried egg on top. They knew that both things were safe for dogs to eat and Jona was busy socializing. Toru was done eating breakfast anyway. They wondered how long they had left before first period, or if they should visit the lake during morning break. Perhaps they would invite their new friends to join them? Would it be too forward since they had just met most of them?

They decided to offer the invite to not be rude to anyone if they wanted to come. "I-I was thinking o-of heading to the lake f-f-for break... If... anyone wants t-to come...?" Toru softly squeaked and nearly trailed off to the faintest of whisper toward the end there.

"From what I've heard of muggles, they like to believe the same thing about things witches and wizards invented," Niamh replied, "I guess it's human nature, or something like that. Light purple is one of the best colours out there, but I've never seen a cat that colour before.... but I hadn't seen a transforming rabbit before I got Thumper, they didn't have pets like him in Egypt." As Blade was drumming his fingers, Niamh thought she recognised the rhythm, but couldn't place the tune. "You're going to have to tell me what tune that is," she added, "I'll have that rhythm in my head all morning otherwise."

Paddy was lost in her thoughts on what career she could pick, and had to drag her mind back to the conversation. "Sure," she replied to Toru, "I'd like to get some fresh air by the lake after the first class. I always feel I need to be outside more in the first week back here. It takes a bit of getting used to after I've been in my Uncle's cabin in the woods for a couple of weeks."

Jone wheeled around in his seat when he heard "lake" and shouted, "HELL YEAH! Are we going swimming?" He was bouncing in his seat excitedly and ready to {i]accio swimsui[/i] any moment. Duncan barked from his feet, equally enthusiastic at hearing "swim".

"I'd love to," Magnus said excitedly.

Blade nodded to Nimah. "Yes people do tend to like to take credit for other's work I think. That's why being on teams is so wrong." He cocked his head slightly. "And what kind of pets do you see in Egypt?" He looked up as if he was slightly surprised. "What? Oh, Brahms - Clarinet Sonata No. 2 in E flat," he replied.

Zoe didn't reply.

The Hufflepuff blinked at Jona's enthusiasm. "W-We could if we get i-insulated wetsuits...?" Toru did have a very nice wetsuit since they normally swam in the lake, but wasn't sure if Jona was aware how cold the average temperatures* of Scottish waters could get--even in summer. Hypothermia could be a real issue without proper protections or natural resilience. However, they didn't want to completely squelch Jona's excitement. Though they were very excited at how many people seemed to want to go with them.

(*Average water temperatures in Scottland is like 42F-56F or 6C-13.5C according to the internet)

Fade shook his head as a soft blush tinted his cheeks at Sauvage’s touch. “You know I can’t help it.” He rubbed his face with his hands making silly faces as he did. Toru invited them to the lake for break time, it was nice the other kid was getting along with everyone so well. Usually they were so quiet. Fade loved being outside and hastily agreed. “Lake break sounds cool to me.” He smiled up at Sauvage. “If it’s cool with you.”

Sauvage laughed awkwardly and said to Fade, "You know zat eet eez okay for you to go places wivout me, right? Zat said...I could use some more work on my tan. I sink all I deed was get more freckles over ze break!" She rolled her eyes, looking at the speckles that decorated her shoulders.

Jona whimpered almost identically to the noise Duncan made when Toru mentioned water temperatures. Rocking himself back and forth in his seat, Jona whined, "I'm sure it's not thaaaat cold?" It was more a hopeful comment than a question.

Fade immediately felt like he was being too clingy, realizing she could be uncomfortable with his assumption. He scratched his head and looked away. “Yeah I know, just like hanging out with you and your freckles I guess.” It was true, and a little nerve wracking to admit. But sort of obvious all the same. “It’s OK if you don’t want too.” He grinned sheepishly not sure what else to say. ()

"Aye," Zoe said, "the water here is very cold." She didn't seem to be completely listening. Nor did Blade who didn't seem to know what to say.

"Yeah, I've swam in the cold waters of the lake," Magnus said. "You've gotta be careful and even in summer its hard to swim sometimes."

She leaned up against Fade and let her body rest alongside his, saying, "Of course I want to go. And I love to be around you, too. I sink eet eez cute zat you immediately sink of us instead of just you sometimes. Eet eez emportant zat we still spend time wiv our friends as well. Zhere will be times zat I want to do somezing else and times where you will want some space. I am sure you weell be sick of me soon. But..." Sauvage reached for his hand under the table. "Now eez not one of zhose times." She smiled as she realized the moment showed her own experience in relationships versus Fade's. Even though she had never really been in a relationship, she was not sure where this so-called wisdom came from.

[edit] Jona's bottom lip stuck out in a pout as Zoe and Magnus doused his hopes of swimming. Duncan began howling sadly under the bench.

“Yeah, you’re right.” It was a bit of an awkward conversation to have in front of their friends. But Fade felt like at least most of them wouldn’t make fun of him for lack of experience. Maybe Blade… thankfully the other boy didn’t seem to be paying them any attention. So long as Sauvage was leaning against him, Fade didn’t really care if everyone in the school had a laugh. It was almost impossible to think about anything else. The smell of her mango shampoo was just about as comforting as the gritty smell of his father's workshop, or the warm scent of his mother's office back home. “Wouldn’t mind getting my feet wet. It’s pretty warm outside I think…” He mumbled absently. ( )

Toru gently gave Jona a small pat on the arm, feeling bad they had crushed his dreams of swimming. "W-We can get you a w-wetsuit? T-The swimteam has a few extra?" They gently consoled their friend again. The swim teams wetsuits weren't as good as their own, but it would keep Jona from freezing.

The bell chimed signaling it was lunch time. Toru had spent most of their Saturday morning painting in the art room. Socializing was much harder than they anticipated and needed to recharge their batteries by spending time quiet and alone. Small flecks of paint dotted their cheeks when they had absently touched their face as they worked. However a loud rumble in their stomach indicated they would have to leave their project unfinished and get a hot meal. They padded into the Great Hall, spotting Blade and sitting across from them at the table. "H-Hello, Blade..."

Paddy walked into the Great Hall, feeling distinctly the worse for wear. She wished she had been able to continue taking the potion she had tried last term, but the Healers had told her the potions hadn't been permitted for longer use from the ministry of Magic yet. And of course the first full moon of the new term always seemed the hardest.

Sitting down at the table, she didn't really notice who she was sitting next to, concentrating more on what she was going to eat for lunch to try and get some of her energy back.

Blade looked up at Toru. "Hey," he said with an extremely subtle sad tone. The dog girl sat beside them and he couldn't remember her name... she was part dog--right? He wasn't sure. But she looked like she lost a few rounds with a hippogriff.

Magnus entered looking pale and gaunt. Didn't these kids eat, Blade wondered as he watched Magnus slipped into a sit and looked like he was about to collapse. The boy looked like he had no energy.

Millie had been sitting quietly munching on her lunch and sipping her tea when she looked up and saw Magnus () stumble in looking terrible. Without saying anything, she fixed a small plate and a mug of tea and took it to her friend. She sat down next to him and wrapped her arm around his shoulders, all without saying a word. She didn't know what to say but she knew he needed his friends. She sat there with him, drinking her tea without saying a word.

Toru sent a small sad look to both Paddy and Magnus. They knew it was always hard during this time of the month and wished there was something they could do to ease their suffering. They ordered the two of them miso soup. The brothy soup would have a fair amount of protien but would still be gentle enough if they had sensitive stomachs. "Are you both going to be okay?" Toru kept their voice soft and gentle since their hearing was already sensitive and this close to the full moon it might be painful.
