Having a reeaaaaallly rough day. Ugh. :( Found out that due to illegal repairs done by the previous owner, we are probably going to be out a LOT of money fixing the septic to code. I don't want to go into all the details here and bore you guys but I am really sick over it and irrationally very sad because I fought really hard against weather and other setback sto have a garden and it's so beautiful this year and...of course, we'll have to dig it up because that's where the repairs will have to be done.

That garden was my happy place and it feels like one of the few happy things this year is going to be ruined on top of paying a lot of K to repair something that should have never been allowed if they'd gotten caught. No legal recourse against them anyway but it does really suck.

sends hugs your way That is awful! I am truly sorry to hear what is going on. Being a homeowner seems to be one large, expensive adventure (atleast in my experience so far). Losing your garden is also awful! Having a moment of peace and happiness taken away is heartbreaking (and I feel heartbroken for you!). I hope once repairs are done that you can have your garden again.

Weird that when you bought the place that the review didn't find those illegal repairs. I know I had to deal with HUD coming in when I had to get our plumbing, electrical (we had aluminium wires and an now illegal electrical panel) and our roof up to spec last year. I had inspectors from HUD, the local county and even my homeowners insurance coming in. They kept finding stuff and all I wanted to do is cry every time. Yeah, we did all the inspections we knew about but I guess we could have added an extra septic inspection but we didn't even know there was such a thing at the time we purchased. So the inspector checked the plumbing on the house to the septic and it was functioning and that was it. Never imagined someone would have disconnected it from a failing drain field and then just covered it up and figured he wouldn't get caught.

We bought it as a fixer upper, but that was not a part of the deal and it's so frustrating. :( We already replaced all the electric and plumbing to bring it up to code, but knew we'd do that when we bought it. I'm just so UGH.

Like you, Eva, I just wanted to sob for a day or so. heh.

But last night we decided to try to find the old drain field and see if it functions even a little bit or if it was totally collapsed. We found it and it is one of the old ones and definitely not working completely, but is not totally collapsed by any means, but it will limp us by a year or at least until the fall/winter when we can hopefully save up to replace it completely. Praying and crossing my fingers it works out!

And that also saves my garden for the season. I am not getting my hopes up because until we close it up today, I won't know for sure if it's going to work.

I'm sorry you've been hit with this. I really, really wish there was some way we could catch up with people who do this. It's horrible for the people who have to deal with it and it's dangerous. The worse my family ever had was discovering a gas pipe which hadn't been capped off properly. It was under the floor of the room where the computer and electronics are kept. Gas and electronics. Great mix. We had no choice but to get someone in to fix it then and there. I hope you can get it sorted out safely.

Are you doing container or garden plots if I can ask? We recently turned a small section of my front yard into a small garden. I'm not a green thumb but we've been trying hard to keep everything going so as the high heat is returning, we shall see how it goes. I have a couple buckets of sweet potatoes going but everything else was just transplanted into the ground. We have really sandy soil here so I had to mix in a lot of top soil and manure to try to help. How is your areas soil? I like to learn about this lol

I'm hoping to return more often now. Probably still not as much as I once was on, but more so than I have been. I am quitting my job in just a couple weeks and taking a 6 week leave before my new one starts up. I've been having MAJOR regrets about not taking a maternity leave. So I'm giving myself one (5 months later)

Someone tell me what I'm wearing (or not wearing heh) in my HA? In my wardrobe I have a nice spring outfit on, but when I come back to subeta I'm wearing just a heart skin and nothing. And I can't figure out if my cache is stuck (tried clearing) or if the clothes just aren't showing up somehow.
