Here is what I used that worked really well

Energized helmet, MW, swashbuckle, natasha, Cronus blade, pquill, rblaster, soma

Scrolls: 1 infinite use scroll, 1 gotf, unstable snow fairy and all the freezing scrolls I could carry for the rest of my AP.

Strategy: froze on the first turn and chain froze while his health was low enough for me to do that. Once I got past a few wins, I no longer had enough scrolls to freeze. When I wasn’t freezing, I used MW and swash. When he was frozen I used Cronus + Natasha to try and do more damage and generate steal fodder. You may get lucky and have MW steal weapons. The better block is wind so swash is the better bet to use on the first turn with the helmet

I was too lazy to switch to bona mods, plus I liked the extra turn of freeze protection from parched baguettes.

Could anyone tell me what item(s) Fishbreath Jacques is giving out for 5 wins this year? I'm not sure if I'll be able to beat him, and I'm curious.

He gives out the freyalise inkwell (wig I’m wearing) and a minion. I think it’s calked freyalise spirit (or ghost?). Same prizes as last year

Thanks! I saw that there weren't any new loot items in the directory, but I wasn't sure if it was the same as last year or if they had rotated some of the older prizes back in or something.

AHA! I had a feeling it was as simple as clicking on his shopkeeper image for a couple of days to unlock him. Cool beans, let's see who gets him first.

I am very curious about what was said in the news posts, about Brunhilde. Not sure if it is foreshadowed for what to come.... if she will be a new challenger or not... xD guess we have to wait.

I still can't feed pets, can't buy from the battle shop, can't redeem currencies from the item itself (I can do it by going to the vaults page), and various other odds and ends that weren't an issue yesterday.

What did you feed your pet that the site allowed?

Okay, that sounds like something has gone seriously wrong for you. I just fed a but I'm curious because it still says the pet's hunger is at 1/10. I also just bought a surging power potion from the battle shop. I'd report this as a major bug for you.

I emptied my cache, rebooted, etc... The only thing I can think is that maybe I need to make sure I have the latest version of software. I'll check it out later. Have to run since RL has reared its ugly head again. lol

Okay, I managed to beat Jacques 2 times. I might try again later to see if I can get to 5 wins, but I doubt I'll be able to get to 10 either way. Maybe next year ~

[edit]On the plus side, I got to 25 wins against Rita with no trouble at all. Yay!

I can't remember how far i got on Fishbreath last year with El. 7, I think? El hasn't grown too much since then, so I doubt I can even think of getting to 10 wins.

Welp, I eked out one more win to 11, but without the rest of my freezer scrolls tied up in my awaiting loan, I keep coming up short. Fairly sure from my losses testing out blasting his equipment that it should be more than possible to advance, though if I can make fifteen is iffy with his forsaken stealing habits. Going to need to swap in more protective crystals.
