Hello all! I thought I could use everyone's advice. My totally awesome grandma gave me some money to go on a vacation this summer. The only problem is, I'm not quite sure where to go! I know this will be a road trip; driving is so much cheaper than flying. I usually like to see nature or historical places. I've done a lot of research, but I have so many ideas I can't choose! I think I'm leaning more towards the eastern half of the nation rather than the western, which means anyplace east of Oklahoma where I live. Unfortunately, that's a really big area! A lot of places online list big cities to visit, like New York or Boston, but I'm wondering what else is out there other than the obvious tourist traps. Anyone have any ideas?
If you change the "W" in WHEN, WHAT, and WHERE with a "T", you answer the question.
When pigs fly, I want to ride one.
I doubt this helps, if I ever travel I'd go to the usual destinations. But as far away from people or any presence of man. See the part of the world not plowed under or polluted by eyesores.
I feel that its "go where?", "see what?" The only place I can think of that's unspoiled is the ocean floor. Not much there.
sigh Sorry, I'm not sure who will let me borrow their submarine. Although, I've always wanted to see tropical fish that are not at the pet store.

Bleh i hurt my fingers some how.

I will be in Ohio, late July-early August, come and visit! LoL (not much to see in ohio) Google recommends: Places to Visit on the Ultimate American Road Trip Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The Grand Canyon, Arizona. Hamilton Pool Preserve, Dripping Springs, Texas. Portland Head Light, Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Monument Valley, Utah and Arizona. Lake Tahoe, California. Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada. Mount Rainier National Park, Washington.
I always wanted to see Mt Rushmore and edit Stone Mountain in the Ozarks, Georgia and the Arizona/Utah Buttes (maybe that is the Monument Valley), what are you into? Football museums? Natural history museums? All kinds of cool things to see.
Very nice underwater museum in Eilat.
I really need to find me a shirt like that again.

Well, there is that part of New Mexico that's south of Texas. I had visited an automobile and aircraft museum near there.
And if it were possible, the Tunguska area out in Russia. I read that an unexplained explosion occurred in 1902. A couple megatons worth, long before atomic weapons existed.
Oh boy! I just got a BHH item [item2=Xentrilis] with an Unlocked Blackheart Stalker Achievement too for finding something 10 times. Yay!
Calendar days are closer than they appear! [item=mocking clock]
WHat kind of things do you like to do on vacation ? We have Palo Duro Canyon up in the Texas Panhandle that puts on a great drama in an outdoor amphitheater throughout the summer. The canyon is beautiful and there is camping and hiking trails as well. Our own little Grand Canyon. East Texas has the Piney Woods that are beautiful and right across the border into Louisiana if you care for a mini day trip. The Gulf coast in Texas has some awesome beaches and depending on how much money your Grandma gave you you could have enough to rent a beach house that is right on the beach or within walking distance of it and can enjoy the sun and surf for your vacation. My family has rented beach houses before on two occasions and I can tell you nothing beats the sunrise over the ocean! I grew up near there and our beach that we always went to was Surfside right outside of Galveston. Galveston has several festivals I'm thinking during the summer and I would check on those online. Of course NASA, awesome tours btw, and the Houston Zoo are not to be missed in that area and it's just a hop skip and a jump from Galveston. If you like theme parks Astroworld there in Houston is one of the best! Further down the coast is Corpus Christy with awesome beaches as well. You could take a day trip down to Mexico from there and visit the open air markets. Here in Dallas/Ft Worth Metroplex there are also two awesome zoos, Six Flags over Texas is an awesome theme park and it's connected to Hurricane Harbor, a water park. There are myriad restaurants, some world famous and 5 stars. All the big names in the music world tour through here and we get Broadway shows as well. The famous Stock Yards in Fort Worth are not to be missed.... not the cows but the myriad of restaurants and Honky Tonks.... Billy Bob's is there. There's a fascinating hotel that I took my daughter and her friends to down in that area that was HAUNTED. We did some ghost hunting there and it was fun. The Bass Music Hall in Ft Worth gets awesome entertainment through there as well and easy to check their schedule online and get tickets. There are also some beautiful lakes great for camping, or head to New Braunfels and go tubing down the river there. There is an awesome water park there that is cool. If you like really Historic, San Antonio can't be beat. The beautiful River Walk chock full of restaurants and stores and right on the other side is the Alamo a great place to visit steeped in History. THey also have a great zoo and a theme park Fiesta Texas and Sea World to visit. What can I say... I'm Texan and it's absolutely true that we have a little bit of every state right here. I know ya wanna go east but hey consider it!
Life is short... Count your Blessings, Love your family and friends and lend a helping hand whenever you can!
