Looks great! I love what you did with all of the background stuff! Is the background from a costume trunk?
I knew I recognised that tiger-striped moon, so I had to go hunting. Am I close? :D I know the dress is wrong and the shoes, but I'm more interested in backgrounds and SFX than clothes... Private Outfit
I think it's the Vampire Cursed Orb from the Vampire Hunter Costume Trunk layered with two Wet Specimen frames

sorry for delay but hurricane came through NC where i live and we had no power since thursday. just got it back. is correct. It is the vampire cursed orb
No worries, real life is more important than Subeta anyway. Are you doing okay after the hurricane?
yeah i'm okay. nothing was messed up at my place. three trees fell on my street so we lost power. i was able to go to work everyday even without power at home.
That's good! I couldn't do that since I'm on the same grid as my job, so if I don't have power (which just happens sometimes apparently) my job wouldn't either.
Must suck to not have power for multiple days though. I can only vaguely remember happening to me once, and it wasn't due to the weather. The whole system just sucked back then and now it doesn't suck as much.
Since things are not so good at work right now, I've started applying for other jobs in the company. My old boss has a vacancy out for general recruitment so I've applied for that - it was the situational judgement test that I was worrying about, since the last time I did one I scored 0 (I think there must have been some computer glitch where it didn't bank my answers or something). Scored 75%, a bit low for me but decent enough.
No, apparently it was the verbal reasoning I should have worried about - I only scored 40%! When I was doing it I found it terrible as they were nearly all really complex 'Cannot Say' statements - it felt wrong, but reading the statements there was no way to conclusively say if they were true or false. I think I must have been being too precise with the text and semantics maybe. The test is supposed to respond to your ability, but the questions all seemed clearly unproveable from the provided text, so it wasn't doing a good job responding to my incorrect answers!
So anyway, my question is, does anyone else find in those things that the 'correct' answers are actually poorly written or very ambiguous compared to the original text? I feel like those tests actually disadvantage people with a strong grasp of reading comprehension and vocabulary, and a literal/precise approach to things.
I met the minimum standard anyway, but still it's really bugging me. The score is banked, so any other jobs I apply for for a while will use the same result - no chance to retake/improve. Thinking about it a bit more, the job is a reasonably high level (same as I am in at the moment, but I didn't have to do verbal reasoning for this), so I guess it makes sense that the questions would need to be hard to ensure a certain standard of candidate, and maybe 40% isn't as bad as I think it is. Still, I know I'm better than that result and I hope it doesn't prevent me moving to the next stage of testing.
I got 99% on the numerical reasoning though :) Score! (pun intended)
Having done many tests for many reasons, I feel like all they test for is how awake I am in the morning.
But I also feel like some of the tests are just... stupid. Like, to use it as a screening process? At my job, I got a test and an interview, and while I think that test is stupid, I managed to pass and got a job. Mind you, this to be a cashier, so it felt like a hell of a lot to screening to get hired for part time. Anyway, this test is somewhat recent, I guess, because there are a lot of managers at the store who took that test after the fact (it wasn't used for them to get hired) and failed.
Also, I guess my sister didn't pass the test now that's online, so of course she didn't get an interview for people to see how great of a girl she really is. Another store who didn't make people take a test hired her almost right away. I also know a lot of people know who obviously passed the test and are shitty employees.
So in general, I think it's all stupid. It seems to be disadvantageous to both sides - employers who rely on it for a screening that can block out great employees and employees who have more to show but can't do it in a test.
Anyway, I hope everything else goes well!
I can never pass those online questions that are a part of the application process. My job i have was done with a paper application and turned in the old way. one of the few places around that doesnt do online applications. I agree with . Those tests can't show the kind of employee someone will be.
Lol!
Sorry for the delay, had a shitty couple of days (not work related for a change), and then the lag/downtime hit.
Yeah, to be honest, I guess every way of testing disadvantages somebody! I've known some amazing people already doing great in jobs on temp contracts, but for some reaosn they just can't get through the permanent recruitment tests (for the same roles). It's such a shame. I always try to work with them on improving their testing/interviewing skills to give them a better chance. I've also known people who've gotten other people to sit the online tests for them to pass - and then they get in the job and just are appalling. It would be lovely if instead of tests we could just be given the job to do for a few weeks to show what we can do, but I get how impractical that would be for most employers!
My app is now showing as 'under review' instead of 'on hold' so I'm hoping that means I've progressed to the next part of the sift.
And completely separately: Now somehow I have managed to sprain my thumb, and I have absolutely no idea what I did! Fortunately I'm relatively ambidextrous so I'm getting by ok but it's really annoying and I keep forgetting it's hurt and trying to use it. Silly me!
My brothers have no understanding of money and it's starting to get annoying l. Somehow my brother managed to keep his job but he doesn't that you shouldn't just spend it all when you get it. My younger brother has expensive hobbies, demands money for these hobbies all the time, and has no job or a desire to get one.
Like, it's just the girls who have a concept of things like bills.
I understand exactly what you are talking about and it's frustrating if you are expected to cover their messups. It is no fun feeling like you are just working for someone else all the time.
For some reasons, me and my brother are very responsible with money, bills, etc. It's our mom that isn't. She's driving me nuts!!! Trying to explain to someone that she doesn't work anymore, not making $70,000 caused she's retired and living on the government pensions, but she doesn't care and spends like crazy, is exhausting. I actually gave up...told her that at one point, she won't be able to afford rent, etc and she'll end up a ward of the province and she's gonna regret it. I'm not doing anything for her in that department anymore, I almost crash myself in helping her so nope, not going there anymore.
