Heya! I'm feeling a little better.. but then I had to work a full day yesterday so it took me backwards a bit.. and as a result I missed all my quests.. so I'm so behind on NY tokens now!

are you originally from Kentucky? I am - I was born in Louisville and mostly lived there growing up (my parents moved away a few times but always went back after a year or two).

Hm some of Lem's books are really complicated/confusing but others are easier, at least in English. I read Star Diaries when I was pretty young, 11 or 12 I think, and so did my son, a year or two older in his case.

Hard to say if the translator simplified it a little since I don't know any Polish, even though my grandmother on my mother's side migrated to the USA from Poland. Though at the time that part of Poland was part of Russia or something, she wasn't sure which she was from since she moved here when she was 10 years old - at the time she spoke some Polish and some Russian both but she forgot most of it by the time I was old enough to discuss it with her.

Do you have a favorite pen? I know people get really into their pens, haha. I've been hearing about the Juice ones lately because they come in a lot of colors. I usually use Sharpie pens. Did I mention I have a pet named Bujo? I'm going to make her into a bujo info pet - I'm working on her TC now.

Wow, that's impressive! I'm even more embarrassed of my poor reading amounts these last years. I used to read upwards of 50 a year but that hasn't happened since just after college. Have you tried a reading journal? But yeah, I get bored or distracted or forgetful when i try to track different things and let it slip. I saw you mention the Witcher -- my girlfriend has a copy of a translated book, but I don't think she's read it just yet. My family is excited they were popular because they're Polish, but none of them have read them or anything.

Hey! Love you Halloween-y HA. It should be Halloween all year ;)

I heard that the Witcher books are really good,I play the games if thats any good lol, Ive played 1,2, and was some way through 3 but then I got distracted. there is a lot of really high praise for the books and the games, which were made by CD Projekt Red who are a Polish company. I have not read the books unfortunately. I used to read an awful lot, but it seems to have reduced since the internet and games came along.
Thanks for letting me know, I havent been on Steam for a while, Im still obsessed with Animal Crossing New Leaf lol.

Sorry if Im not around as much, my computer is playing up.Raggys CW Wishlist

I didn't play the Witcher game but I watched a big chunk of it as my husband played it. I'm not sure which one it was, the most recent one I think, so probably 3.

I read my whole life too! Until my eyes started going bad and now the last few years I don't read nearly as much. Or maybe it's cause my insomnia isn't as bad these days! I just can't seem to find an interesting book. I was reading your criteria for what makes a great book and I totally agree. For me the writing and the character building ( you said it better but I forgot how you said it) are really important and to me sometimes more important than the plot. Anyway, I'm reading some stupid book that's on loan from Amazon Kindle and I can't even tell you the name...

Businesses these days really suck in the way they treat their employees! And their customers too! I wish you the best of luck in your venture! It sounds rewarding and fun and I so hope you can figure out how to make it work!!

You didn't change your HA today! Are you ok? :-)

Yes! When you only have certain slots of play time and subeta is down or lagging...grrrrrrr! How are you feeling now? Do you think your surgery fixed your heart? I forgot exactly what surgery you had.

I guessed you watched for homesteading! This morning I started to watch Alaskan Frontier and it was grossing me out with cuts and the guy's son stitching him up, so I decide to start watching Games of thrones from the start again and right off people are dead and then a guy gets beheaded. :-P

I tried a reading journal a few times... I tried blogging my reading a couple times too... it just didn't stick. I kept forgetting about it and then thinking "well if I missed three or four books in the middle what use is it" :D

I found my attempt from 2006... in January 2006 I read The Life of the World to Come by Kage Baker, Stolen by Kelley Armstrong, Black Brillion by Matthew Hughes, Warhorse by Timothy Zahn, Wheel of the Winds by M. J. Engh, The Rebirth of Wonder by Lawrence Watt-Evans, The Danziger Transcript by Carl Fick, Beyond Heaven's River by Greg Bear, Scepters by L. E. Modesitt, The Knight by Gene Wolfe and Those Who Walk in Darkness by John Ridley. Then in February I read some essay collections I didn't write down the titles of (I could probably find them since I did write down the authors, Amy Tan and David Sedaris) and Moon Called by Patricia Briggs, The Well of Lost Plots by Jasper Fforde, The Masks of Time by Robert Silverberg, Quicksilver by Neal Stephenson, The Time of the Ghost by Diana Jones, and a bunch of Stephen King books... and by April I'd stopped writing them all down :D I think that was the last time I really made a serious attempt...
