I read the first book of a 3 book series a couple weeks ago, all of them are out & the first one was really good (and people say they're all good), so I recommend that. The book is called The Fifth Season ... it's about the demise of a society that basically enslaves anyone born with magic powers; needless to say this is a risky proposition as when one of the more powerful ones gets free he takes some massive revenge... The story follows several different arcs at different times, leading up to the event and immediately in the aftermath. A great main character and some really interesting minor ones too.

I'm also reading the middle part of a 3 book series I read ages ago (for some reason the 2nd one is a flashback from the first, it's my favorite, so they don't totally have to be read in order, but it's probably better to). It's not entirely fantasy, more of a contemporary story with a few fantastical elements, about a Canadian family in the 20th century mostly. The Rebel Angels, What's Bred in the Bone (the one I'm reading), and The Lyre of Orpheus are the titles.

So you know, if you're looking for something to read that's completed :D They might be in your library... But both are pretty well known so maybe you already read them, I don't know. But I can recommend less well known series too that are complete. I have read a lot!

The Fifth Season actually sounds... very interesting. Normally I take settings like that with a grain of salt (elaborate measures requires to enslave something more powerful than you and all), but I'm curious. I'll keep an eye out for it on ThriftBooks.

I'm kind of scared to read the other one you mentioned. I've been working on my own urban fantasy series for 14 years now, and I'm always scared that by the time I'm published the same exact thing will be out there already. >.>

Oh no, not at all! I just felt it might be useful given the slightly different post colors. His surgery went okay, though because of his emphysema they couldn't put him under. They gave him a spinal so he wasn't able to walk for quite some time. But he'll be okay. :) He's out of work for two weeks and I'm taking care of him for today.

He is lucky to have you to help take care of him ^^ I am in so many contests ugh lol!!!
