He does a lot of wind and earth, but has the potential to do a lot of water, dark and possibly physical. He also has the chance to steal so I would recommend bona mods (if you have any stashed away or already equipped) or a weapon like OHS that has a blessing to protect from stealing. I beat him with OHS and swashbuckle (omg yes I went with swashbuckle over the trident).

Freezing is enabled so I would recommend chain freezing him if you can. I also double blasted in the hopes of him using junk or blasting the weapon that steals since I have no bona mods right now. I also boosted with my mecha.

Chili certainly didn't appreciate it lol

Thank you for the suggestions, I do have both OHS and Swash so I'll probably give them a go. And try freezing him as much as possible ^^ I think I'll tackle the smaller ones first and use the exp because I suspect it'll be touch and go with this one, and every stat counts!

- I always check first (unless, of course, the information is posted on this thread before I get that far). He really has a lot of challengers covered. In this case, I use him for BQs and the regular Fishbreath Jacques was there, so I thought he'd probably have the harder version as well. Glad to help. Good luck beating Captain Jacques.

- welcome! You are definitely in the right place for any kind of battling help. And I think you will be very pleased at the results you get when you battle a little smarter rather than just "hitting as hard as I can". I got to this thread about a year ago and it really has made a huge difference in what I've been able to get done, so I hope that happens for you as well.

I've noticed there are a few differences between mod preferences but for mods on weapons you plan to use a lot mostly I've seen a combination of Parched Baguettes and Critical Strike Tears recommended. Since I'm still experimenting so far most of my weapons have parched tear crystals (a lot cheaper for a trial!) and I've just recently learned to swap out one of those for a Critical Strike Tear and have been seeing good results. With four available mod slots the most frequent thing I've seen is two Parched Baguettes, one Critical Strike Tear and one mod slot left for whatever you prefer or would be best for a particular opponent.

There is so much to learn I didnt even know half of the weapons and scrolls I am reading about existed ... not that I have worked out what I actually need or how to get them yet but I am working on it. Im so glad I have been training every day though at least I got that much right.

congratulations it sounds like you did some savy battling with your AoN ...erm ok silly question coming up ... what is AoN and you mentioned that someone got one by fragging so I looked in the crystal shop to see if this could be something I could do but couldnt see an item that you might be calling AoN is this an item that is not always there or am I looking in the wrong place ?? Hope you dont mind me asking all this stuff Julia

- you're welcome. I'm so glad it was helpful. There is really an overwhelming amount of "battle stuff" that you can learn. But don't worry - you don't need to learn all of it at once and can do really well just learning one small thing at a time. Just today, I wound up finding out about a good use for singed mods and used some of them, probably for the first time.

Besides training, some things you might want to do everyday are - Battle Quests to earn EXP which you can use to buy stats for you pet, Shinwas Quests because she can give you stat boosters as a reward Quentins Quests because he can give you amulets which can be turned into the mage and sometimes become a tome which is also a stat booster (just don't read it to your pet- you need to use it instead.

If you want to know about a weapon or scroll - or just what to put together into a battle set for your pet, lots of people here will be happy to help you (just be aware that they sometimes talk in alphabet soup - so OHS = Ornamental Hook Swords, but they are more than willing to translate if you ask).

And they're also happy to help you figure out how to beat a particular challenger if that's your goal.

And I see you have already been reading to your pet which is great because AP lets you use more scrolls and that can be a very big help. (Trust me, my T9 only has 37 AP right now and it's starting to become a problem at her level. So I will be working on that.)

It is all really exciting - and lots of fun too! You might be really amazed at what you can do.
