and that's loud because of Fireworks which I hated in the first place lol Better to be bright and festive than loud and polluted lol

( & ) Christmas is a religious holiday for religious people but it's a big non religious holiday here in the USA also for non religious people. It's sort of got a mix of stuff going on. You can usually distinguish because some aspects are definitely religious (Nativity scenes, baby Jesus, etc) and some aspects are definitely not religious (trees with decorations, snowmen) and some are kind of a mix (Santa Claus has religious aspects and non-religious ones).

I have very mixed feelings about the whole thing. It's pretty - colorful glittery lights and all that. And a lot of people are really nice about it and generous and giving and other good positive feelings and behavior, that's the good side. Some foods are only available this time of year that I like (eggnog! so yummy) that's another good part. And there's vacation from school and work.

On the darker side, it's cold and the days are short so it's depressing. A ton of people who are naturally seasonally depressed feel pressure to seem happy because of the holiday season and they are really fake and stressed out and that bugs me a lot. And then there's the people who make it political and us-vs-them, that is just super annoying and horrid.

So you get the good and the bad together... such is life.

I bought our family some tickets online for Saturday 3 pm and they charged me $5 extra for doing it that way! if I'd known they'd do that I would've just drive to the theater :( oh well I will know not to do it again... sigh

Christmas has never been super religious for me. I just like giving and spending time with friends and family. Its more about the holiday spirit than anything :P

ohh family and friends time here is during CNY, where everybody (except if you're holding a very important position) is off, so they sail/fly/drove home where we make dumplings and watch the CNY show :D I remember having activities hosted by the school around Christmas :) that's the only time where there's the spirit lol

Thank you!! ❤️ Sales have been pretty good for us. What we're struggling with at our store is being behind in getting enough people signed up for our store cards, which is a Big Deal for us. I've only got a few people signed up since starting, because so many people already have them or are super against getting them. They're also keeping the store open late (like, 2-4 hours depending on the night, and even as late as midnight next week!) and people don't really come in after 7pm or so that seems silly.

The breakfast thing sounds neat, but I probably wouldn't be interested in going then, either. I hope you have a good day tomorrow, whatever you decide to do!

Yeah, I work in a department store. I'm glad to have two days in a row off! Hasn't happened much in the last month with the holiday season, call offs, and someone quitting. Me, too ; / I've been writing emails and contacting my representatives in my state, so hopefully that has some sort of impact! They weren't even accepting messages the one day I called so it seemed like they are getting a lot of traffic.
