ooooo i am interested in all of those hobbies op.I am excited to go through these pages later. mine r: -make music (computer, guitar, violin, piano) -archery -perfect shooting accuracy -crazy knife tricks -laser cutting acrylic -metal clay art -learn more languages -concentrate longer than 5 seconds
I recently started teaching myself how to paint with acrylics, it's super fun! There are so many tutorials and even full classes and stuff on YouTube, it's a big help. I had a gift card for hobby lobby to get me started and I was able to get everything I needed, even though some of it was a probably overpriced. Tiny canvases ftw!
same with pottery. i wish theres a place for me to take a weekend class
<( )
I would love to make bead lizards, get better at art, get better at writing and get better at sewing plushies!
I don't want - I NEED - to learn coding because I am hopelessly stupid at it. 8C
Aside from trying to get better at art, I'm trying to learn VFX for games :3
Not sure if that counts but I want to learn japanese as well.
I'm trying to get better at drawing, but anatomy is a bitch sometimes. I'm progressing slowly but perspectives and stuff like that throws me off.
I have so many....some in progress and some I want to learn, but can't afford or don't have the room for. Crocjet, sewing, needle knitting, weaving, book binding, to play guitar, to relearn clarinet, to learn to play harp, spinning yarn, calligraphy, pottery, and kind of drawing but I already don't have the discipline to practice drawing. It frustrates me too much.

Leathercraft!
I’ve done some basic pieces for a Larp but seeing what others can make... There’s a whole new skill set I need to learn. Bought some cheap leather to practice on, but still lack some necessary tools.
I really want to learn how to knit :( I've tried a couple of times but all the guides I find online aren't helpful which sucks!
I'd really LOVE to learn how to sing! I sing all the time but I do it terribly. :'(
Other than that, I just want to get better at drawing.
Piano. I used to play the piano when i was smaller, but i've forgotten how. Im planning to re-learn it, since it was one of the things i was proud of back then.
And coding, honestly. Would be nice to be able to code my own profiles or even websites and stuff like that. And i also wanna learn how to draw. There are actually so many things i wanna learn, probably cause i dont wanna depend on other people to do them for me.
I'd love to re-learn the piano too! Kind of a character flaw but I run partially on spite, so of course sixteen years after being told that my hands will always be too tiny and weak for musical instruments (and getting tired of the bassoon) I wanna give it another try!
I also really want to improve at baking; I can make recipes taste pretty good apparently, but I'd love to get better at the presentation (I'm watching The Great British Baking Show) and I'd definitely love the practice so I can move a bit more efficiently - I take 2+ hours for a one hour recipe "OTL
I also kinda wanna learn how to draw or paint... I'm a synesthete and people sometimes make fun of me because I can't art //at all//
I have a lot of interests, so it's going to be hard to narrow them down!
I come from creative stock, but all of my family members excel in different areas. I'm okay at drawing, but my creative talent is primarily in storytelling and working with my hands. I can weave my own hanging baskets for my plants (gardening is another skill I'm learning) and I'm surprisingly adept at conceptualizing and executing carpentry and restoration projects. I like salvaging and restoring old furniture, and finding a way to put my own spin on it. That's probably something I'd like to learn more of.
My grandma worked in a bakery designing and making wedding cakes, and some of that rubbed off on me. It's probably from all those years of standing on a stool in her kitchen to make meals for the whole family. I like studying food and desserts as an art and a science, and experimenting with flavor combinations.
I also grew up on the festival/carnival circuit (my mom helped run her uncle's food wagons) so I've always been in love with the carnival arts. I already have experience with fire breathing, but I'd like to put more time into fire poi and brush the dust off my juggling skills. I gave up on contortion when my joints started the mutiny, but I've always loved tribal dancing and would definitely try that again.
I want to learn how to scuba dive and improve my skills in botany. I'd also like to improve my skills in certain areas of math. I'm currently learning Norwegian and German, but I'm also trying to improve my ASL (American Sign Language). There is so much more, but I'm already practically writing a book, so I'll wait. 😂
I want to learn how to spin pottery! It was the one class back in high school that I didn't get to take. Never had the chance in college either.
I also want to learn how to use R. I already know some fundamentals for this programming software but I need to know more!! To be honest, this is half personal interest and half work interest.
I've always been pretty creative and I used to be really into digital art (not so much anymore since I don't have a lot of time between work and my personal life) but I'd be really interested in learning how to design and draw more realistic backgrounds. It was never a strongpoint for me.
SOOOOOOOO bad at procrastinating aha. I guess the biggest thing I'm working on is to try not to procrastinate projects in general? Like a ton of people here, I'm trying to get better at coding. Also working on writing, I have a book that I'm working on right now. Also hoping maybe wood working~!
I've been trying to get more into acrylics, just as part of "learning how to art" in general (I fell out of it as a kid cuz I was too afraid of judgment, but screw that aha). Do you have any tutorial recommendations? Anyone in particular that you follow? ^^
I'd love it if I could learn Chinese calligraphy, among many other things.
A learning experience is one of those things that say, "You know that thing you just did? Don't do that." - Douglas Adams My wishlist.
Since September of last year, I have gone from a novice crocheter to one with intermediate knowledge. I can read written patterns pretty well, but my dyscalculia makes reading diagrams more difficult. (I have dropped knitting completely, because it was making my hands hurt.)
In the mean time (and in addition to the other things I had on my list), I have decided I want to learn embroidery and I want to try to do some focused drawing practice. (The former will have to wait until I have the money and can get supplies. The latter will have to wait until I find the patience. LOL)
- Embroidery is one of my favourites because it's super simple and cheap to learn! Can pretty much start on any [ideally, non-stretch] piece of fabric and a teeny bit of thread.
I'm looking to keep improving at leathercraft/making leather soft goods. I'm working on my portfolio, trying to keep myself flexible but also moving forward. A part of learning new skills for me is also learning to hold myself accountable in using them.
{ film;; like the images, like the movies, like the culture. }
there are video tutorials on youtube. have you tried those? I had one that i used for casting twice, one like this one, and it worked o.o - yea, i learn better if i see it at times, and sometimes even if i see it, i still fail >.>
i started romanian embroidery (i have written about my first finished project here), recently, and i really like it! what's that? oh, just sewing various patterns onto fabric, using specific sewing stitches. i mainly used crosses, and slowly trying to get the hang of others.
I really have to update my blog ObscureJourney and my review site BeingObscure. French speakers can read my reviews here.
