Since both events already started... Could we just extend the Quest-a-Thon?
There's still at least a week before September kicks into high gear. Or as suggested, include Major Drills. Also battle quests?
I'm definitely in agreement on this one. It seems like a very poor choice, especially since we could've had the Gelatin War a little bit earlier, like a week before this, and that would've concluded + segwayed nicely into this?
Or maybe even two weeks out to give people some breathing room. Something.
I'm gonna be pretty disappointed if we don't make it with Quest-A-Thon, because I'd really like that pet slot. : It's super disheartening to see people saying they're dropping quests so they can grind for the Hydragellos Core.
My t8, t3 and t4 kiddos can have their fun when I've got all my quests done for the day, get some execution points from squashing gelatins, but... I don't really care about it nearly as much as the Quest-A-Thon. (Even if I did care for the gelatin wars, t8 isn't getting awful much done.)
We're most likely not going to make it with the Quest-a-Thon, so might as well just focus on Hydragellos.
We should have had TWO WEEKENDS included for the million to be probable, but we only got a Sunday. Really, the Quest-a-Thon should have started Friday, but Sunday.
However, I am curious about what happens when we don't make it. I thought at the staff was just going to let us lose the last time. Maybe we need to lose one for staff to think about it a bit more.
When we don't make it, we don't make it. We don't get anything as a consolation prize, afaik. We got profits and items from quests.
Though tbh, if it takes a slew of very disappointed users who were looking forward to a pet slot taking to the forums and pointing out how shit of a timing this was for staff to actually realize that yes, the timing was actually very shit indeed, then that... kind of speaks a lot about how this was not thought through at all.
And that's another thing I dislike is the way the prizes for these two events are being handed out; Gelatin War: Rewards people based on their own effort. If you put in the time and effort, you get the prize, regardless of how many other people don't put in the same amount of effort. Quest-a-thon: Lol user timmythajimalingdeng decided to only do one quest, you don't get the prize you worked for.
Nah, I was thinking more along the lines of how the announcement would be worded, if we got one at all. "Yeah... you guys didn't do it".
But I think staff is really riding on "you guys did it before!" whenever somebody seems concerned about the goal. I think they have too much faith in our abilities when in fact, we wouldn't have made it at all if they didn't help us by making everything a weekend quest. Losing one might ground their expectations a bit more (and yes, making them realize this was shit timing even without the Gelatin War).
@ Avel Probably going to be something quite cheeky and rubbing salt in the wound for a lot of people, along the lines of "you were so close, but it looks like some of you might have slipped on the gelatins along the way", if I had to make a guess. idk, this whole thing just made me mega-anxious and now the meds have kicked in and I'm... really blah about it.
Yeah, I agree. Guess we'll have to keep on trucking and see where it gets us. Either there's going to be a lot of disappointed users, or staff are going to have pity (again, because I refuse to believe that the last all-quests-are-weekend-quests bonus Sunday was planned from the start) and pull another all-quests-are-weekend-quests bonus out to pacify us. Who knows.
Edited for spelling
I was having trouble keeping up with the quest-a-thon before the war. So was almost everyone I know. Most of my friends have not been able to quest much at all...now the few quests they were able to do aren't going to get done because they all have battle pets and what little time they have is going to be put into battle.
I'd be sad if we didn't "win" the quest-a-thon as things stood. Now, I'm angry, not sad or disappointed. And I didn't even want another pet slot (I have 4 sitting empty now). I did want the 5 forum pts and referral point, though.

We reach the goals on these things 100% of the time, if it doesn't happen this time because of split attention, oh well.
i'll refrain from going completely sour 'till after we see how weekend quests will be this time around, but i'm not exactly hopeful (and i'm very glad that my next pet isn't reliant on us winning this round, just the name staying free long enough for me to gather my pennies). i still want the "is unlucky" title from the raffle, so if we don't make it, maybe staff will take pity on us and give us that one, hah
i am very surprised that staff thought that the food trucks, a long lull, and then two big events at the same time was a good idea? especially since vesnali was postponed "to give you enough time to recover from your dancing, and pace our events a little better" :?
I personally am not having too bad of a time and feel pretty neutral about it, however I do agree with a couple points: 1) that someone made the suggestion that it was purposefully done before school starts as a consideration, despite how very late in the summer it is, which I find quite funny, and 2) even if this isn't too much split attention for either event, it is odd to consider the pacing of events over the whole summer, like just mentioned. I wouldn't call it a disaster at all. Neither event by itself is as big as a plot, they're pretty minor actually, so I can see why combining them was tempting. But even small events on Subeta are just... time. Time and clicking. Forever. xD
However I'm still enjoying participating in them, even if they are both huge time sinks and I can't do all quests every day nor spend hours battling. I have to be careful of overworking my hands (ow) but it's nice to have a couple things to do at once on Subeta.
NGL I am still annoyed with how the battle events are handled (mostly because I'm simply the whiniest of battle scarred potatoes here =P) so I'm not going to bother with the big guy except maybe a few hits just for credit.
The Pet slot is much more worth it to me than the sheer stress and lag of the battle event itself so I'mma see myself noping out just like last time to save myself some peace of mind lol.
Would I have participated more if the events weren't at the same time? Probably yeah. But I'm not about to wreck myself for the core no matter the circumstances lol
I'd rather they just dropped these quest-a-thon events all togeather. Questing has always been a long, and boring task. Remember the days of doing 30 for each person. I always found the rewards for quest-a-thon too rich anyway.
Totally biased though as a battler and avid quest hater.
If we remove the quest-a-thons, we need to find a better item sink for restockable items. We can't remove them and replace them with nothing.
I hate questing, but I love the effects that the quest-a-thon has on the economy

I seem to recall Subetateam would buy up all the deflated restockables and delete them off site. Theres so many ways they can create item and sP sinks that dont require handing out more restockable junks and sP lol.
I like the fact that the prize isn't something you can trade or sell though.
A poorly planned, ill-timed event? Ah, Subeta, don't ever change
From the Hydragellos. instructions
I'm guessing that a lot of people with lower level pets would still like to get some kind of damage total so they can win a prize. There's no way I'll reach 5 million but if I don't take part and win something, it's a waste of time and sP training and equipping my battle pet.
They didn't buy everything that was asked by quests, it was mostly used for things like elixirs and high-rarity events.
At least, Quest-a-Thon kinda makes restocking worthwhile for a week. That's that. Subeta buying from shops is a one-time-instance and doesn't really encourage restocking at all. It mostly benefits hoarders.
