Really not happy about this either. :/ Working my butt off questing every day and it's just disheartening to have the gelatin war thrown onto this mess. There are people all over the news comments talking about dropping the quest-a-thon in favor of the gelatin war. I'd rather we focused on the quests as that's something that the entire userbase can participate in instead of the war. It's just dividing the userbase and making sure we fail both events.

It feels like whichever staff member decided to throw both these events out at the same time looked back at the past couple of weeks, went 'shit, we haven't done anything!' and just threw out two unplanned events at the same time to compensate.

yeah, i don't really feel like i get the decision to do these two events at the same time. why not just do the gelatin war? the last quest-a-thon was only two months ago. i'll probably focus on questing, but i wish i could go all in on the battling.

school already started a week ago here, as well. :P this just seems strange from a lot of angles, to be honest.

already left a pissy comment on the news post, so might as well indulge and post here, too. who could possibly have thought this was even a slightly good idea? as many have already mentioned, we barely pulled through on the last quest-a-thon - and the goal is much higher this time around. now you're pulling a gelatin war out as well? reeks of deliberate sabotage, ridiculous as that sounds. "why would staff sabotage their own quest-a-thon" i don't know, doesn't make a hell of a lot of sense to me either. honestly, we've had weeks of nothing, and now as people have started going back to school, there's this??? monstrosity??? uhhh. all right......... we all know battlers are going to sacrifice the quest-a-thon in favour of raking in them sweet battle prizes. hell, i'm trying to get a few kicks in, and i've personally barely been able to make much of a dent in quests Because Life as it is. nope, i don't have much faith in the quest-a-thon this time around, which sucks because i'd much rather have those prizes than whatever the gelatin wars' are.

Why is staff consistently choosing to make Quest-a-thons at horrible times? Do they just want us to fail? The last one was over a holiday and now they've thrown two events together at a very busy time where some people are traveling home from the eclipse and starting school. Seriously? Who thought this would ever be a good idea?

If staff doesn't want us to get the prizes they should just not hold Quest-a-thons instead of doing this...

While I agree having both going on at the same time is a bit much, I will say that not everyone battles. I don't really battle and I don't care one way or another about the jelly war because it's boring to me. So us non-battlers can focus only on the quest-a-thon.

@ Lantern Speaking as both a casual T12 battler and avid quester - this feels pretty overwhelming. D: I've done my quests for the day and I've crunched my numbers on an average loss vs. damage count for the gelatin core (~600-700). Gonna try to participate in the gelatin war once my daily quests are done.

I'm glad this is stretched out over the course of a week too, but the timing is still poor and there's simply too much to do if you're interested in taking part in both the quest-a-thon and the war. Add real life, back-to-school, family and jobs to the list and people are going to have to choose one over the other instead of taking part in both, whether they want to or not.

Still hoping we'll get a bone thrown our way for the weekend, ideally a little sooner than we did for the last quest-a-thon. That one was a bit too close for comfort. :'|

Who doesn't know when school starts? lmao. It hasn't started in september since like, the early 90's (maybe even late 80's. Yes, I'm old af).

School started here on the 14th (nevada) and this is the first year of stating it earlier. Normally it would have started on the 28th, so, that's still not getting it in before school...

very bad planning. Y'all had allllll summer long.

While I agree that it would be better not to have both of these events happening at the same time, school does start in September in some states.

For example, in New Jersey, which is one of the nation's leading states in education.

When school starts varies, depending on a bunch of things.

I also agree that this timing was simply bizarre. Even though, by a stroke of magical luck of epic proportions, I happen to have this week off work, I'm still struggling to keep up with both battling and quests. I am trying, but this is a lot to keep up with D:

(Also, it's incredibly annoying there's no way to track the amount of damage against hydra apart from using a spreadsheet or something, and equally annoying that to even see the damage there's all this scrolling back and forth. However, everything else about the updated UI works like a dream, so that's something at least.)

I feel seriously stretched thin because I'd like to do both but it's not like I can and want to spend hours doing basically the same 'click here, click there, rinse and repeat' thing with questing AND battling. Because that's what it boils down to. Button clicking. It's really discouraging with the Quest-A-Thon right now. :c

I kinda don't feel the pressure tbh I quest in the morning, it takes like 1.5 hours for me and then I battle at night, I open 10 tabs of the "choose a pet" page and after every battle I move to the next tab, it saving time and I repeat it over and over.. you do this 10 times and you already have 100 battles.. tiers 11-13 can easily do 5mil with this rate.. you can do 200 battles in a day if you want..

And also the Quest-A-Thon ends earlier, so there are free 3 days only for the war and it's the same time that a boss battle takes for example and the average for the top was around 3.5mil damage for the plot bosses.. and the last Hydragellos was for 2 days I think and the average was like 2.5mil damage.. so I think it's possible to do 5mil in a week..

But I'm talking about t11-13, I think t10 and less can give up on the 5m if they want to quest too.. they need to choose and in my opinion, the quests can be a better choice for them.. and later in the last 3 days they can try to get as many prizes as they can by damage..

Some people only have time to be online for a few hours each day though. If they were already using that time to do quests, they may not have much time to do battling. So they'd have to choose one or the other.

I agree that it would probably be mostly high tier pets going for the core, since it would just take way too many battles in the lower tiers. But still, there are the other gelatin achievements in addition to the Hydra, so it's kind of a lot to ask for questing and battling all at once.

Thing about the battling though, is that before, it was all condensed into 12-24 hours and the damage you needed to be in the top 25 was over the 5m goal this time (last war's rankings)

If you're in a higher tier, you don't need to spend the whole week battling to get a core. Some each day or a bunch one day should be good. Lower tiers it's a different story, but I'd suggest just doing your quests first then doing whatever battles you can if you have the time.

Yes I agree with that!

I think for now, we should focus on the quests first, than when we have time so on the battling.

This was my score, tier 12 of last boss Marlboro PsychoDreamer 4,945,876 (T12) 256 losses

So I was very close to 5mil in the 2 days

Yeah, I've figured out that I need about 250 battles per day to reach the 5 mil goal, but I'm still doing my other quests as well. I need money to replenish my healing costs. :P

I'm still hoping we might get some special quests for the weekend, that could help us make up the difference again possibly.

I like that both things are happening at once. If only one or the other were happening, folks would be complaining about it either the battlers would be bored, or the non-battlers would be talking about their lack of planning. (and indeed some folks are complaining here. Hint: The Hydragellos isn't the only thing going to happen! You only need to do one quest!)

Yes, the goal is higher, but we have longer to do it. Was it possible to complete the previous quest-a-thon, yes it was, only people were waiting to be bribed with WSQ prizes instead of the regular ones. This isn't the same as it being barely possible. They just don't want that pet slot as much as you. Subeta itself is not responsible for their ennui.

It is weird and kind of a miss that no newsletter or social media promotion was done. It would have been a good time to also promote Subetaversary and Keelhauliday both of which are also coming up Real Soon Now.

I'm not even going to both going for a core, T3 is wayyyy too low for that so it's not like I have to choose... but I'm worried for the quest-a-thon. I'm not sure if we can catch up now, even with a weekend quest thing because the timing was just too bad for a lot of people to get on and stay on in the first place. Now there's two things to worry about.

Breathing room is nice. I feel like we had a lot of time where we were doing nothing special for each of these events to have their own week. Let's have more breathing room.

(me when i saw the news about hydragellos)

I can only second what so many others said here. Both Events at the same time is just so bad. :(

Staff just wants to see us fail. And I have the bad feeling they will. But I won't give up. I'll maybe even activate my GA now... never did, even though I need the Autopricer (I always price by hand anyways XD), but I think now would be helpful.

And I still wish Major Drills would count for the Quest-A-Thon as well. I do them every day and it wouldn't bother me at all to do them. :(
