Oh man that sounds so delicious. If you don't mind me asking, what's the recipe? I'd so give it a shot even though my baking skills are subpar. Yup feel free!
I use standard ready mixes, not quite at making from scratch. Mine are still at novice. What I have had is time, to mess up and learn the hard way.
Is there a brand of mix you prefer?
I tend to use Betty Crocker however what I do make from scratch are pancakes.
There are a lot of recipes I want learn, but the only person who could teach me insists "my wife will do that". As if...
Ewww antiquated notions. My husband does all the cooking and starting to get into baking. I am just like how can I help. I don't enjoy it, he does.
I agree. It just means I'll learn from somewhere else. My house has no place for such archaic things. I don't like the idea of being half of anything. Such a human compulsion...
There's something g to be said of eggs, I can't reproduce the subtlety of the flavor, despite my efforts. The way they make it...
Eggs like scrambled ones? I use a little milk and butter to make them fluffy
omelette style, fried in oil in an iron skillet. So many older relatives and neighborly people do it. It just evades my efforts. I don't know what they do, and I want to know. I don't expect ladies my age to be able to.
MMM cooking with cast iron is so nice. It adds flavor I swear
I suspect the cooking oil has a role, I use an iron pan. And I get a very different flavor. It has the same effect on potatoes...
Could be. I am not too familiar with cast iron cooking. We just got a bunch of cast iron stuff for our wedding but haven't used it too much
only cooking over a wood fire is better.
Actual wood fire, usually in a wood stove. Maybe a makeshift grill...
I am for smoking with wood. But I like charcoal better
Cooking with fire is cooking with fire. I just get a kick out of chopping firewood, too much even.
Then you need a wood burning stove. My in law is obsessed with them. He had use for one in Idaho but in TN it doesn't make too much sense to invest in.
Oh I do have one. And cooking on it is a pleasure, during Winter the kitchen is the only warm room. We just need to get it ready, new stovepipe and cleaning is in order.
