I wish I had the mental capacity to break everything down when it comes to battling. I'm surprised Haneul has gotten this far!

I mostly am half-aware of what I'm doing most days with battling when I sit down to actually do any. I don't crunch numbers, I just throw my pets at a foe and hope it works based on past experiences with Elfric. I've been on a break from Subeta, so the guide has slipped away from me. The updates I'm planning are going to take at least a week because I need to train Okkoto for the new battle example. I'm trying to step back and be a newb again, try to see if I can get what the problems are.

That's more or less what I do....but as an example, here is a current battle with General Error

The left is what I did to him, as well as any other blessings and curses that I activated, and the right is what he did to me? Most of the time, I really don't even pay attention to all of that stuff, and I always go "How did I do that?"

Yup, that's how it reads. The battle text is based on speed stats too. So you appear to go first because I assume General Error was frozen this particular turn, meaning he cannot attack. The only attack he's able to do even while frozen are any curses he has planted on you (in this case, you have been cursed by Curse of Agony, which is where the 416 damage comes from on his end).

Though if your pet healed more than 416 points, then he basically did no damage at all to you.

Yeah, I had frozen him in that turn....because of a Shriek Scroll I think...or something like that. I only screened shot part of the battle stuff. I'm not sure if the weapons were the best to use against him really, but they did get the job done.

Off the top of my head, I don't recall GE's main icons of attack other than he is annoying. He can rack up curses and freezes really easily against you. And he steals your stuff easily too. That's what makes him primarily dangerous. He's at the higher end of the Extremely Hard difficulty level he's in, based on his stats and these particular nuances.

I hate Prodigy and The Mage more at the moment. Though GE is still annoying....I haven't done all the wins I need to do on him yet

Prodigy and Mage Butt are always annoying. I didn't get anywhere against them til El was at the higher end of T12, close to T13. Prodigy iirc blocks water primarily. So bringing a water attacker is useless unless you can hit him while he's frozen. That said, you can attack him with any other elements. His attack elements are all over the place, but he does water, fire, magma, light and dark primarily. He doesn't block wind from what I'm looking at in his weapons.

As for Mage Butt, he's just annoying. It's like GE but worse.

I've been using MW and...other things for Prodigy, and Cronus and OHS for The Bear. It's become hit or miss right now when it comes to winning, I think Haneul is just at that funny stage.

The work you’ve done on this guide is remarkably generous. I am going to do my best to go through it as I have time and engage more in the forums. My personal roadblock is that I retain better if I read one concept at a time and then immediately get to put it into action to see how it works. I will try to focus on working in my own interactive bits and maybe I’ll be able to come back with useful feedback for you after that.

But I honestly think what you have done for this community is above and beyond and probably can’t be improved on. I think interactive guides would be the most helpful and that would have to fall to Subeta to do. But I will put a lot more energy here on my time off and see if I can help a tiny bit. Thank you so much for what you’ve done and what you’re offering to do now.

I have gotten feedback on how to improve the guide, so I don't mind making changes that are necessary! This is a really old guide at this point, and it does need a major revision. I appreciate your feedback, because that can help me figure out how to go about writing it so it can help be more interactive. Does the weapon set and scroll library sections help by chance in how that's written? Those sections are much newer compared to the rest of the guide, and I specifically wrote them to be step-by-step. I can replicate that type of writing for other aspects like the training center.

Elfric's been there too, at the weird stage of done fighting everything below him, but what remains is still out of reach. It's frustrating! xD

I am very frustrated....the only challengers Haneul needs to beat (to win stuff of any importance) are:

Prodigy (Who has become a hit or miss when it comes to winning now, we either tie, or he chain freezes me when he's in the red)

General Error (Who Haneul could probably beat the remaining times he needs to if I felt like it...but every now and then the stupid squirrel get's lucky)

Chase-17 wins Euclid- 21 wins Fisherman Blake- 20 Kain Lukien Melman-8 wins Reischen-1 win The Mage- 6 wins

I have no idea what to do with Kain or Lukien...and with the others, it's getting to the point where they are now getting too strong, or they beat me before I can beat them.

Forget Lukien for the time being, even I can't beat him. xD

As for GE, my strat is freeze him first turn and keep freezing him. If you've got the AP to attach a bunch of freezing scrolls on, that's what I'd do. Mod your weapons with Parched and Bonas to stop him from freezing or stealing from you. If you can load up curses on him while he's iced too, that will take him down even faster.

Admittedly that tends to be my strategy for most things. .-.

Lemme get back to you on Kain, cause he's given El a hard time too. I don't remember but I think he does a lot of earth, physical and dark icons.

I feel better knowing that a tough pet like El can' bet Lukien at the moment! Like Prodigy, it's hit or miss with GE. I think most of my weapons might have Critical Strikes and Bonas? There are probably some with Parched on them...that's another thing that makes my mind go 'what.....'

How to modify the weapons. Peoples' opinions always seem to be all over the place when it comes to what to use

Oh yeah, there's several Impossible opponents we just can't beat. Lukien, Kain, uh....that red Aeanoid dude from last year's CS line, another dude, Paramnesia Recycle beast. We only won against Paramnesia Buttwing by sheer dumb luck. The problem is just because Prodigy and all his friends are Impossible difficulty, they're not cut from the same cloth. El can beat some, but not all. The BAs are really sneaky that way.

and the Troll. That dude just taunts me in my challengers list.

For mods, I never know what i'm doing except throw on Parched Baguettes, Bonas and that's about it. I've tried modding with the higher level crystals we finally got, the freezing one seems decently helpful. But nothing beats a Bona and Parched combo. Just hate getting frozen or my stuff stolen. :x

I was part of the first group that worked together to beat the troll, so I did manage to get five wins in before they did the reset...which was kinda cool. It does drive me nuts that Haneul can beat some impossible challengers, but not others...and even the ones he can beat, sometimes it's just we got really lucky. I need to start working on his other stats now, but it's getting to the point where I'm afraid of using EXP...

So...maybe I should replace some of the Critical strikes with Bonas and parched?

I just wanted to let you know that I didn’t forget and I’ll start with scrolls as soon as I can. I work a lot. A lot lot. So hoping to have some down time in a few days. I’m still so impressed with everything you’ve done. I’m going to train up another pet, so I’m going to start with him instead of my T11 and I’m really looking forward to it!

I'm not sure if this is something someone is really to take up or how Staff would feel about but I'm starting to wonder if a video format of some sort would be helpful. Maybe some of the people who have a hard time grasping battling even after trying to read guides are just audible learners.

I get that a video series would be a quite a large undertaking, especially as a volunteer thing, but I'm just tossing it out there.

I wish I had the ability to do something like that. It would be fantastic!

Section 3 has been revised and uploaded! Section 4 is the last remaining section set to receive a face-lift, but the main three sections are finished~ For now at least, i know the BAs are cooking up some new QoL features for the future!
