Well, I finally hit 6000 for Gypsy's food count! Only 2000 plus to go...

The Troll lives up to its name, that's for sure. :P

It's a global system though, not an individualized random weapon. Once discovered, the same weapon will work for everyone, right up until a pet finishes a battle that is a multiple of five. Getting a fifth win (or tenth, etc.) for a pet resets the winning weapon for the entire site, and you have to start all over again if you're hunting for wins!

So if you get your first win and tell a friend what weapon worked before you finish a multiple of five win, they could get wins too. And if you're really careful and each defeat The Troll without actually ending the battle on the fifth win, others can do the same and get to that fifth win and then get the loot. But as soon as one person completes the battle and collects the loot, the winning weapon resets and you have to start looking again to find the next random winning weapon.

what a pain in the butt! So how does one find a weapon that actually works on the silly guy?

You could go at it methodically, like painstakingly going through all the tier one and two weapons on-site (which would involve putting all of them into your armory, ick) or you could just have a random array and try them every so often in the hopes that there's been a reset and one of them will work now.

Both options are pretty not fun, tbh.

We would like to assume (more like really really hope) that some tier one and two weapons are excluded from the pool of possible winning weapons (looking at you, Universal Remote), but there isn't enough empirical evidence to say one way or another so far.
Like there's being mean and then there's just plain cruel.

Closer to when the challenger came out, there were groups that did blitz testing together and would share the winning weapon when it was found and then as many people as possible would try to get wins in before someone broke the chain and actually finished a reset battle. So I've gotten some wins in from being part of that, but I've never tried going through the entire list on my own.

Congrats for being there when that happend. I was probably around but I didn't start battling and training until about a year ago...one day maybe I will tackle him. None of my tier 1 or 2 worked but hey, there are items in my wardrobe I can always pull out and try...
