you see there you go I never said that slave's were never owned ... you still don't get it the Civil War was not over Slavery ... it was one of the issues but it was not the main reason at all as a matter of fact the north didn't want to free the slaves either but by giving them there freedom for fighting for the north many slaves joined the fight .... I don't know where you are looking at for your info maybe CNN but you need to check your facts and make sure you know about the history of the United States ... and yes if your ancestors came over here and settled in the south then yes they probably owned slave's ... I understand that is a total disrespect to other humans but back in that time every one had slaves not just black but white as well poor white people were slaves to... and what about all the Chinese that were brought over here during the building of the railroads and the digging of the mines ... I don't see them asking for stuff from the history of our country to change ..... Only the rich land owners had slaves and trust me back then more land was owned by less people... and in the north they still had slaves as well and more people owned slaves in the north then in the south .... in the north though they didn't have the slaves working in the fields and stuff and they had a few more freedoms but not many....

You are absolutely right about the Civil War and the so-called "rebel" flag. The Civil War was about unfair taxes, not slavery. Slavery didn't even become an issue until well into the war.

thank you very much.... I studied American history in college for a 2 semesters while I was in the Army... I was stationed at Fort Riley Ks. Kansas State University is only 15 min from post so I went to school there while I was stationed there I used by GI college fund money to pay for the classes I took there

You're welcome. I was told in school time and time again it was about slavery, but once I got out of school I did a little research of my own and the truth was quite different. If the North hadn't gotten so damn greedy the whole thing might not have happened. BTW, I happen to have ancestors from Tennessee and it's quite possible they owned slaves. I refuse to be held responsible for something that happened over 100 years ago by people I never knew. I have never owned a slave and I don't owe anyone anything.

I don't know if mine ever did but I know that my family always has lived in the North but that doesn't mean a darn thing ... I just don't get it if people want to stop racism stop pointing fingers and saying you somebody owes you something if you want something go out and earn it that is what I have done my whole life ... if I wanted something I went out and earned the money to get what I wanted .... I grew up on the south side of Chicago back in the 70's and 80's I know how bad racism is and I was a part of it not as in I would fight against other people but because I wouldn't .... I got my ass beat lots of times for being in the wrong neighborhood with the wrong skin color I know what it is like to beat down because of my skin color and trust me when I say back when I was a kid through my teenage years that happened to me quite often cause I didn't care what my skin color was if I wanted to walk through a neighborhood I did most of the time I knew the consequences it would take long for a group of 5 or 6 guys to kick the shit out of a 90 pound kid laying on the ground

Ouch. That sounds awful hugs

yea it was bad... like I said I didn't care so when I turned 12 I got a paper route to deliver the Chicago Tribune I had a large route for a 12 year old I had over 70 papers to deliver Sunday through Friday ... the Tribune is usually around 75 pages per day except on Wednesday that day we had extra papers to put in the with them which were coupons and Sunday which was basically a 2 day paper with no paper printed on Saturday ..so I was real slow getting around carrying all of those papers I had apartments I had to go into everyday plus walking with papers was bad enough ... plus back then with home delivery we also had to collect the money for papers we delivered so there was another bad thing I had going walking around on my paper route with money

I hope you never got mugged!

lol i wish ... I delivered papers until I joined the Army I had other jobs as well ... I worked at a gas station where I pumped the gas I used to go to that job after I delivered the papers plus if I wasn't working or delivering papers I was looking for grass to cut or if we had I would try and shovel some sidewalks for cash

You were industrious! Good for you!
Off now, back later.

Whoah, that got intense for a bit there.
By the way, any one know yet how many times you have to fight an opponent before the special dedicated battler prizes kick in?
I haven't battled enough since the reset to see what any special loot is... I was curious about that myself .... and the other subject I will not talk about anymore
I don't know if you know to much about the south side of Chicago but look up Cabrini Green it is tore down now but that is some of the stuff I had to deal with on the south side .. google it

Thanks, and don't blame you. In fact I think I'll edit my post to keep it from starting up again.
oh I wasn't blaming me I know I was right I never once mentioned the flags was cute or anything of the sort sometimes people read stuff without getting the full understanding and then by not getting the full understanding the wheels in there head start turning and the next thing you know they have come up with a whole new meaning to what was being said.... We all do it, it is human nature to have different opinions and that is fine but don't come at me telling me I don't know what I am talking about and making it sound like I was being prejudice and that is the last thing I am .... like i said in an early post I don't see skin color we all bleed the same color red ...

:) I meant I don't blame you for not wanting to discuss it further :) Until people accept that there is only one race, the human race, a good many subjects will remain too divisive for a lite chit-chat forum. 's why I edited my above post.
Update on my sister Karen: She had to go back in the hospital on Friday for fluid buildup and then overnight she had a heart attack. This has knocked her completely out of the running for a liver transplant. She is still in hospital and I will be talking to Palliative care today to see about getting her home so she can be with her family when she dies. This means hospice. She is not altogether lucid and still having problems with the fluid buildup, including a huge fluid filled blister on her left foot that is extremely painful. The doctors say the fighting is over. Now she is to enjoy what little time she has left with her family and tell them all that she wants them to know before she passes. They are going to get her to an optimal state in the hospital and then send her home to be with us for as long as possible. Hopefully, she will make it out of the hospital. It's been a long fight but it's over and we now just need to make her as comfortable as possible and enjoy what little time we have left with her. I thank you all for all the prayers and good thoughts and donations. We could not have made it this far without all of you. I'm sure if Karen was lucid enough she would be thanking y'all as well. I know she appreciates you all.
I won't be online much in the near future and have been absent this week dealing with all of this. I just need to see her through her homecoming now.
Life is short... Count your Blessings, Love your family and friends and lend a helping hand whenever you can!
