I'm 35 (soon to be 36), went to public school and learned to write cursive between 2nd to 4th grade. I have no memory of 1st and 5th grades, so I'm not sure if we even started in 1st grade. I wrote in cursive a lot in 6th grade up until high school, did some in my early 20's, but now not so much. I do sign my name in cursive still. I've lost touch over the years, I can't do a capitol S in cursive anymore, it just looks all squiggly, lol.
I learned to write my first name in cursive at home, but the rest I learned at school... In first grade I learned to write italics (at a private school). In third or fourth grade I learned cursive (public schools). In seventh grade I learned calligraphy (after-school art classes).
I still use all of them, though I type faster (I learned to type in 9th or 10th grade, at school, on electric typewriters, and starting in 11th grade typed all my papers)
I'm 50.
I'm 24, Canadian. Public school. I learned cursive somewhere in grades 1-4 I want to say, and we practices through those years, but I'm sure it's stopped soon after. I still write in cursive pretty frequently, more so than printing even, although my style of cursive isn't 'correct' cursive anymore, so who knows. I enjoy it! I'm a sucker for neat writing!
I'm 20. I learned it in school (was home-schooled) maybe in 4th grade? I never use it though.
I'll be 37 in February, and I definitely learned to write cursive in the public school system. For me, it's like riding a bike. Even if I haven't done it in years, I never even vaguely forget how. Except that one time I couldn't remember how to write a Z, but I figured it out ;)
I'm 24, I learned a little in elementary school (3rd-4th grade IIRC, public school at that time). Contrary to what we were told, it wasn't required later on. It has had some influence on my handwriting but I wouldn't be able to write all cursive to save my life.
I'm 34, public school, and had cursive writing drilled into me until my hand cramped. It was supposed to be a Very Important Thing that you had to learn. Nowadays, I just sign my name with a scribble, and never use cursive!
I'm 25 and from Germany, I did learn it very early on in school, but I never use it anymore, especially since nowadays I don't do much handwriting, anyway.
yes! in school, in 2nd grade and again in 3rd! i'm now 25.
I'm twenty four(?) and learned it from the beginning of my education practically; it was emphasized to be really important even though just a year earlier individual letters were a pretty big thing.
At least from what I think I remember.
I had to learn cursive in second grade, and we were forced to turn in all written assignments in cursive. This continued through most of my years in elementary school. It kinda makes me mad that they forced us all to learn cursive because while it was easier for me, a lot of people had trouble with it. For example, my younger brother simply cannot read any cursive writing. His brain just won't process it, lol. But yeah I guess they don't do that in schools anymore
24 here, started learning it in the first grade and continued through elementary school... I don't have much memory of middle school but by high school it was phased out. I can still use it, but I have little reason to.
Age:30 attended public school I did learn cursive in school, we practiced in several different grades, one of my teachers refused to accept our essays if we hadn't written them in cursive. At one point in middle school we even had a calligraphy class.
Age: 26
I attended a private school and the first like.. 5 years, it was mandatory to learn cursive. If we wanted to use it later on was our own choice though, so my writing is now a mix of normal and cursive xD
(German person here, Age 21.)
Had to learn it sadly, and it kinda messed up my ability to write at all. I have a horrible handwriting and it was made even worse when I was forced to use cursive. Now I can't unlearn it as well. It's a mess. I prefer not to write at all, because for some reason it hurts my hand a lot, while drawing is totally fine.
I learned it in elementary school, 2nd or 3rd grade I believe. In our schools we had to write everything in cursive. I'm Austrian. :)
Let me permanently delete my account instead of just "freezing" it.
19 and canadian and well..... barely. we did some practice up to like, grade 4 but it was never pushed further. i /can/ do it but very slow and not well and all i need it for these days is my (messy, messy) signature lol

I'm 27, I went to a private, Montessori elementary school, and we learned cursive writing (maybe 2nd-4th grades?), and then after we mastered it we got to learn typing playing "Mario Teaches Typing" and i was one of the first to move onto that

I'm currently 25. I believe that I started learning cursive in 1st grade. It was quite a while ago. I still suck at it though.
I'm 31. I learned cursive writing in public school between second and fourth grade I think. I'm not really sure. I was recently surprised to discover that it isn't taught as much today as it was in the past. Now it seems that technology has taken over. Haha. I remember one of my high school teachers once asked me to type up my essays because my cursive writing was difficult to read. I think cursive writing is an important skill that should still be taught.
