The rose bush was leggy and dilapidated - clearly the previous owner didn't really care about it. I am pretty sure it had gone wild. lol I started two of my own new rose bushes. They are a mini rose bicolored yellow-deep peach-orange blossom. ^.^

Yea, unique birthday cakes are expensive. Even just ingredients fro some cakes are costly. I once made a multi-tired baby shower cake that cost $80 for ingredients alone. Some of the wedding cakes can cost that much, but really it depends on what people want and how they want it decorated.

I'm 30, I was probably 27 in that pic? shrug I really can't recall but it was only a couple years ago. I thought you were close to around that age (not that it matters). lol

Well the most difficult thing for the galaxy cake is finding white food coloring, after that then you are set. You will also need your other food coloring in paste form and a small soft bristle paintbrush and unused toothbrush. You will also need either a small (teeny) spoon or a second paint brush to get the white food coloring from the bottle to your cake. Step 1: cover your cake in black fondant.
Step 2: pick a food color (i.e. blue) and white food color. With your paintbrush put some of the color (blue) on the cake, use the other paintbrush (or spoon) to drop a little bit of white near or on the blue, use the blue-covered paint brush to spread and mix around until it looks like a nebulae cloud. Step 3: Repeat this process over the entire cake. I suggest using multiple colors of blue(s) and or purples so it adds a bit of dimension. Step 4: take the unused toothbrush and dip it into some white and use your thumb to 'spray' or 'splatter' white flecks on the cake for stars. You should for sure practice this splatter technique first before putting on the cake!! If you do not like the look/can't get it to spray right then you can just use the back of the paintbrush (the round tip of the handle) to dab on small stars all over the cake. :D

Ingredients can def get pricey especially if its a bunch of stuff you don't normally use. I made macaroons, entered them in the contest here for the food truck stuff and the almond flour was like 10 bucks DX

I've never heard of a 4th of July rose, I bet it's lovely! I have one friend who is obsessed with roses and grows specific ones because they smell heavenly. I am always shocked by how amazing they can smell! Growing up we had roses in my yard but my mom only likes one color so that is what we had, light yellow-apricotish colored roses.

Everyone (and I kid you not) says I look 16-18. Nobody ever guesses over 18 unless they know I have graduated from college.
