hi, I'm back to don't know what to say land... had a long work day today planning the next few weeks and feel brain dead now

today's HA story is about a storm sewer that got blocked and it's in a fantasy city and there's monsters in the sewers like, and this HA is a wizard who works for the city fixing the storm sewers when they get blocked. The flower and smoke represent the spell she uses to keep it smelling good despite the giant molds and fungus and all

The story is probably inspired by the book I'm currently reading which seems to be about employees of a magical water utility company... it's called "Two Serpents Rise." Their reservoirs keep being infested with water demons... big trouble.

watching TV makes me feel anxious and stressed... reading makes me feel calm and relaxed. Is it any wonder I read more and watch TV less? I do sometimes watch TV when feeling bored in games (because I can play a game and watch a TV show at the same time, while I find I can't read a book and play a game at the same time... :D ) or when I feel restless and in need of stimulation - but reading is my comfort zone always, so I read as much as I can!

I like a lot of fantasy, science fiction, historical fiction, contemporary fiction, and mysteries. I also read some romance novels, YA fiction, horror and suspense fiction sometimes, but I'm very particular about those and have more trouble finding ones I like in those categories. I look for character-driven stories over plot-driven, and an overall flavor of humor and kindness rather than cruelty and drama, and stories about a wide variety of people and lives.

So that reminds me of one of my favorite books with a blue skinned main character: it's a science fiction thriller romance novel. Even if you don't care about blue. (Though I have to admit, by the Goodreads link, not everyone will like this book... but I sure did.) Good characters, good writing, good plot, good romance, good everything... Heart of Gold by Sharon Shinn.
