yep, I did. Thinking about it...I like the general idea, but I'd like to do more than that and wanted some time to think about suggestions.
I'm pondering a scavenger hunt with achievements and anniversaries as the theme.

cool. Sorry, wasn't trying to rush you! I like the way your thoughts are going. If we are going to do something in conjunction with the achievement stuff it would need to be something we could do pretty quickly
No problem, don't feel rushed. I'm thinking - tenth anniversary, so 10 things to search for.

Throwing this idea out there, because I don't know if we can do it or not... I know that we already have a bunch of checklist options. Would there be a possibility of having checklists for achievements? With the item notes now, I know that we could create our own custom checklists for that sort of thing, but we can only have 10 of those and there are a whole lot of achievements that need various things. Would this be a huge demand on our infrastructure? Maybe we need to consider different checklist pages? One page for custom checklists, another for collections (beanbags, plushies, etc.), another for pet-related things (books, food, etc.), another page for achievments?
That is something O will have to answer. I have no idea if it is even possible.
Serious answer: Maybe it has to do with perspective. I'm a mathematician at the largest research university in the state, and I'm surrounded by people whose ability to code puts mine to shame.
In the upper-level class that I taught this summer, I assigned my students a coding project. I coded it myself earlier in the semester to make sure that I had a working copy. It took me 122 lines of code to get it to work. One of my students did it in less than half that.
Anyway: Achievements are all loaded!
Separate checklists for each individual achievement, or one big massive checklist for all the achievements?
- A separate checklist for each achievement... Just writing that sounds like it's a lot of work.
: Not a super amount of work -- now that we've got all the item-related achievements in the system, we could make checklists for each individual achievement. My predecessor already did a dozen or so achievement-related checklists.
I'm reluctant, though, to increase the number of checklists per person. Right now, the checklist table is the largest part of our database (272MB compressed), and making that table even larger would have an impact on performance. We're running SubetaLodge on very lean hardware to keep costs down ($10/month!)
People always say magic doesn't exist but they're full of it because people who can code are magicians performing the best kinds of magic. The achievement samples look amazing honestly.
And lots of props to for doing all that spreadsheet work!
I'm not sure what's been done in the past as far as anniversaries go so I think I'm probably not much help, but the scavenger hunt with 10 tasks seems like a great idea.
osterizer when I took a programming course way back in the Paleozoic (we used punch cards!!!) I used to have friends go over my programs because they never ever ran. These were friends 2-3 years ahead of me and they were always astonished at how short my programs were. Logic and understanding how the computer "thought" were easy, but talking to the machines in their language tripped me up constantly, a missing comma, a misplaced period, or PRN instead of PRT. I'd get all sorts of extra marks on my assignments for "elegance" contrasted with red mark after red mark for syntax. I hear things are way better now, but those early experiences kept me away from programming. LOL I've long since forgotten most of what I learned, and the rest is so out of date is not even funny.
Nice!
As a test, to see if I understood how this works, I added in the Rainyday Desert Rose achievement note and it worked beautifully :).

thanks :), but it was work I'd already done for a little achievement guide thingie! So it was just a simple matter of emailing it.

Even so, lots of work to start with and I appreciate it ❤️ Also your HA is gorgeous!
pretty much the only thing we have done before was to have a huge giveaway.
if we do the scavenger hunt we would need to have prizes or some incentive
in theory it sounds like a good idea but I think Osterizer makes a good point. People will just have to use custom checklists, I think.
your answer was serious but I hope you know I was not. compared to all the other programmers we have had you are the most proficient and dedicated.
I can donate: x 2 or 3
I have a bunch of quest points, so I can pick up a few of these:
And while these aren't worth a lot I have a bunch and they would add some nice color to an anniversary "Prize pack"
Not sure what else would make good prizes? How many to have and how many gifts in each Prize pack?

Okay, I can dig through my vault and see what kind of prizes I can offer. I do have a whole bunch of stuff in there haha.
I can contribute a few CSC as well. I'm sure I also have some clutter in my vault, but probably nothing along a specific theme.
You guys are great. Subeta is lucky to have you working a support site! You make their lives so much better. Of course, I will contribute some things as well. and anything you can toss in?
I would say we should shoot for having the hunt on Saturday? I know, I am very unsure of things lately. Here is another question... how do we handle winning when there are people across multiple time zones? The first thought that comes to mind is pulling random winners from all who complete it. Does that mean they smail the answers and then post on a forum or... IDK!?!?!
Since it takes a while, I have already submitted two billboards: one just linking to the news page and one linking to all achievement items. Others you can think of that would be good?
let me check my shops :)
Actually, tell them to write their time zone or location when they send the answer and we pull random people from those pools. Like we can divide to Europe, The Americas, Australia, Africa and Asia - we can organize the timezones like PDT + Mexico and Central America, then Brazil and LATAM, Europe and Middle East, all China, Japan etc area
OK so this is what I'm giving: Trade Lot Trade Lot Trade Lot Trade Lot Trade Lot Trade Lot Trade Lot
It's a pet site after all, so a lifelike dolls party from me :D
