- yay for ice skating. I also now watch.

- have you ever roller skated? Because if you have, I always thought ice skating was generally easier. (If you're used to old fashioned roller skates, rather than roller blades, just be careful not to twist your ankle.)

Going to Vegas in December is quite lovely. The crowd level is manageable on the strip and the Bellagio has phenomenal displays that change theme every year. The speedway also does a great drive-through Christmas light display. Most of the years I've gone, it's stayed in the upper 60's/low 70's during the day, but last year I had to pack in layers (it stayed mostly in the 50's, if I recall)!

(I'm not sure why the ping didn't work, otherwise I would have responded sooner!)

Haha, that's what I was aiming for... After I wrote a couple lines, I'd listen to the tune to see if it sort-of matched up. :P It was just such a fun idea, I couldn't help myself!

Bah... Is it just me, or are none of the snowballs we're throwing at each other actually showing up on our HAs? Bummer. :( Oh well...

Thank you for hosting this! It looks like it's going to be awfully fun!

A Few of My Favourite Things Arts and crafts. Baking all sorts of delicious treats. Cocoa, hot and in a mug. Decorating here and there. Elves on some shelves. Festivus! Gnome wrangling (which should be done in early autumn, if you care for your gnomes). Hibernating, or at least pretending to. Infectious cheer. Jingle bells. Knocking ornaments off the tree, because you're a big, goofy dog with a big, goofy tail. Laughing and reminiscing with family. Making new memories. Neighbourhood drives, looking at the lights. Over-stuffed stockings. Powdery snow. Quiet sounds of wrapping paper sitting on the floor... someone has given up wrestling with it. Renting a movie and watching it together. Shorter, colder days. Thoughtful gifts. Underestimating the amount of food piled on your plate. Video games. Watching my mom open her gifts. X - pass Yule Log on The Hallmark Channel. Zen, and the hope for a few moments of it.

Whew! Lots of goodies have been stashed under trees. :D

yes, indeed it does though I wish more folks would carry it out almost on a daily basis. We'd probably be in a better place socially if that were the case. I'll take all the genuine kindness I can get.

, I miss stuffing stockings. I contemplate doing so every year and just never follow through.

Happy Hanukkah! To answer your question about roller skating, yes, I used to be a wiz at it until my late teens. Can't say I'd be able to do it all over, haha.

do you have a movie line up that you enjoy? I find myself enjoying Hallmark films over and over (have only come across two or three I didn't like).

you're welcome, please stop by and participate when you can! :)

you know I was humming the tune, didn't you? Then again I guess I wasn't ignoring the fact it was on my mind when I made the first event up, haha. Very well done! :)

you're welcome and I sure hope it helps everyone stay festive! Also, I don't think my town knows how to do it up like they used to, the neighborhoods are all kind of meh. Either that or I don't know where all the awesome neighborhoods are these days.

^-^ I always love your sweet little give-away challenges. Though I must admit this was a hard one O: I have to post a partial list first just in case my computer tries to restart again, but I promise promise I'll be finishing it up today.

Edit: Finished :3 Somehow K was the hardest letter, which really surprised me.

A to Z! A - Advent B - Blankets oh so warm and snuggly. C - Cats! Specifically, my cat, as he sizes up the tree and tries to climb it. D - Doggy's first Christmas! E - Eager for the gifts I bought online to arrive in the mail F - Finally no more 2016. G - Gracious customers, for once. H - Hot. Cocoa!!! I - Ice cream - because for some reason the best time to have ice cream is when I'm warm and toasty inside despite how cold it is outside. J - Jingles of a holiday nature all over the place K - King Wenselaus - and remembering that lyrics exist. Then trying to remember to look up the lyrics and actually learn them for once. L - Luminaire :D M - Marshmallows! (for the hot cocoa!) N - Nieces and Nephews O - Overtime holiday pay on the recognized holiday n.n P - PRESENTS Q - Quilts! Time to break out the quilts. A few years ago when I was working in fast food, there was this lovely older couple that came by most days and we always talked a bit, and right before I left the lady made me a quilt. It was easily the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me. ;-; R - Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens - playing on the radio a time or two, somehow turned into a Christmas song that I don't mind hearing each year. S - Stop motion specials T - Toys for the nieces and the nephews U - Under the tree surprises V - Violin renditions of Christmas carols W - Winter wonderlands X - xoxo at the end of every holiday card Y - Yuletide (and a chance to teach people about a holiday they never knew) Z - Zealous squealing on Christmas morning when the kiddies open up their prezzies!

last years queens speech, she comes on the telly at 3pm on bbc1, and our local stations too all over the Country, most people will sit down and watch.

SPOILER (click to toggle) Here in full is the text of the Queen's 2015 Christmas message. At this time of year, few sights evoke more feelings of cheer and goodwill than the twinkling lights of a Christmas tree. The popularity of a tree at Christmas is due in part to my great-great grandparents, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. After this touching picture was published, many families wanted a Christmas tree of their own, and the custom soon spread. In 1949, I spent Christmas in Malta as a newly-married naval wife. We have returned to that island over the years, including last month for a meeting of Commonwealth leaders, and this year I met another group of leaders: The Queen's Young Leaders, an inspirational group, each of them a symbol of hope in their own Commonwealth communities. 'Losing a loved one' Gathering round the tree gives us a chance to think about the year ahead - I am looking forward to a busy 2016, though I have been warned I may have Happy Birthday sung to me more than once or twice. It also allows us to reflect on the year that has passed, as we think of those who are far away or no longer with us. Many people say the first Christmas after losing a loved one is particularly hard. But it's also a time to remember all that we have to be thankful for. It is true that the world has had to confront moments of darkness this year, but the Gospel of John contains a verse of great hope, often read at Christmas carol services: "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it". One cause for thankfulness this summer was marking 70 years since the end of the Second World War. On VJ Day, we honoured the remaining veterans of that terrible conflict in the Far East, as well as remembering the thousands who never returned. The procession from Horse Guards Parade to Westminster Abbey must have been one of the slowest ever, because so many people wanted to say "thank you" to them. At the end of that war, the people of Oslo began sending an annual gift of a Christmas tree for Trafalgar Square. It has 500 light bulbs and is enjoyed not just by Christians but by people of all faiths, and of none. At the very top sits a bright star, to represent the Star of Bethlehem. 'Displaced and persecuted' The custom of topping a tree also goes back to Prince Albert's time. For his family's tree, he chose an angel, helping to remind us that the focus of the Christmas story is on one particular family. For Joseph and Mary, the circumstances of Jesus's birth - in a stable - were far from ideal, but worse was to come as the family was forced to flee the country. It's no surprise that such a human story still captures our imagination and continues to inspire all of us who are Christians, the world over. Despite being displaced and persecuted throughout his short life, Christ's unchanging message was not one of revenge or violence but simply that we should love one another. Although it is not an easy message to follow, we shouldn't be discouraged; rather, it inspires us to try harder: to be thankful for the people who bring love and happiness into our own lives, and to look for ways of spreading that love to others, whenever and wherever we can. One of the joys of living a long life is watching one's children, then grandchildren, then great-grandchildren, help decorate the Christmas tree. And this year my family has a new member to join in the fun. The customary decorations have changed little in the years since that picture of Victoria and Albert's tree first appeared, although of course electric lights have replaced the candles. There's an old saying that "it is better to light a candle than curse the darkness". There are millions of people lighting candles of hope in our world today. Christmas is a good time to be thankful for them, and for all that brings light to our lives. I wish you a very happy Christmas.

I love your siggy picture, walking dead is awesome, but Im getting afraid of what will happen to them in the end, its pretty brutal!

Thank you so much for your kindness. I appreciate it to the fullest! Have a wonderful Lumi season yourself! ❤

I could totally go for a fireplace right about now, my toes and finger tips are cold.

how many alien ornaments does your dad have to date? And happy anniversary to your parents 25 years!

are you any good at snowball fights? I wouldn't have a chance as I'm not from an area that frequently gets snow long enough to pile up for snowball fighting, haha.

First I want to apologize if I haven't responded yet, I will. Just probably not in the next day or two. Secondly, if you ping me over the weekend, I will get back to you, promise. Weekends are the only days I have with my husband so I spend all my time pretty much with him. I will check in though and make sure all is well. I hope you all have a very lovely weekend, keep warm and stay safe! Cheers! ❤
