LOL My current job I've only been at since August. I got promoted pretty quickly to management because the manager of one of our locations had a baby in January and I was the only person on the team who actually had management experience. I'm an esthetician so I do like manis, pedis, waxing, massage, facials, etc. And then the management side of it is scheduling everyone, ordering product, dealing with crazy clients/staff members, etc. The board of directors that I'm on is for the curling club I'm a member of xP I just thought it'd be a cool experience and look good on my resume xD

Haha I guess when I type it all out like that it sounds like I do a lot. I only work full time.. and I actually hardly ever even clock 40 hours a week. If we're having a slow client week I go home early and whatnot. If there aren't any services to do then I don't need to be there! I do a lot of my management stuff between clients or if I have a cancellation, etc. The board is really only a commitment of like 4 hours a month. I'm the secretary. We have a meeting - I take notes and then convert them into minutes later at home which is what I'm doing now. Management has its perks, but yeah it's a tough job. You have to have a thick skin. This is my second time being in a management position and it's going much smoother than my first time. First time I just really wanted everyone to like me and I was afraid to lay down the law, but now I'm not hah. I've realized I'm not there to make friends, I'm there to make sure the business makes money and presents itself how the owners want it to be presented. I have no problem telling people that they're not doing something right. Not that I'm a hardass haha. I think I'm actually a pretty laid-back "boss". No school! I just got lucky with my first management position - someone again was going on maternity leave and I was the only person who showed any interest in taking over her job while she was gone.

Ohhh I went to school for esthetics. I'm not an RMT - there's a difference. I always wonder that too! xP I've been told that everyone likes my style though.. so I'll take their word for it! I have one girl who is pretty difficult to deal with, but in the grand scheme of things it's not that bad.

How long did that take? I think I know someone who went it was only like 1-2 years? How do you like waxing? Do you have to do bikini ones a lot? xD

It was just a year. OH MAN. The stories I have about waxing. We do 20% off waxing where I work on Wednesday so we basically wax all day long 'cause bitches love a deal. I basically just wax brazilians all day long on Wednesday.

She quite obviously struggles with mental health (anxiety) and brings it with her to work. There was a week and a half period where she cried EVERY DAY at work for some reason or another. She constantly thinks that people are talking smack about her and that we don't like her. She also has taken advantage of the fact that a while back I told her that as long as the desk was covered I didn't really care who was working. And she has swapped shifts a billion times with the other girl who works there. I'm fine with like once or twice a month, but she did like 6 times this month.

Oh my. I feel kinda bad for her, but she needs to do her job correctly. She should go see a doctor. Sounds like she has extreme anxiety and depression. But that doesnt give her a right to keep swapping her shifts!! Holy moly. Did you tell her she cant be doing it that much? :o

Pretty much everyone finds it painful, yeah. I do laser hair removal too and that's more painful though, that's for sure. I've only had a few gross instances that made me question what I do for a living xP I may rag on my job or joke about it a lot, but I really love it! I get to meet all kinds of people and make people feel good about themselves.

I can sympathize because I also suffer from very mild anxiety - but there's a time and a place. Leave it at home. I made a comment about it to her the other day and then she was like "well you said..." so I told her I know that's what I said, but what I meant was that they don't have to get my approval for every small swap, but your regular shift is your regular shift. You can't swap it all the time just cause you don't feel like working on a Saturday.
