Watched the video and wow that looked great. Last november the BBC aired many programs about WW1 because of the 100th anniversary. An impressive one was "They shall never grow old"

And I'm in Bastogne in December with the rememberance of the 75th anniversary of the "Battle of the Buldge" so curious about what they will do then

I will look up that program. I wonder what they will do for that anniversary. It could be very interesting. This looks good. https://www.bastognewarmuseum.be/en/75th-anniversary-of-the-battle-of-the-bulge/

There are tours but I suspect that might not interest you.

Yeah you must do, very impressive.

And we've been for a normal museum visit to that museum, it's very nice. But in December we always go to the Bastogne Barracks (http://www.bastogne-barracks.be/?lang=nl). That's the headquarter where McAullife was in that time, the guides there we can call friends after the years we come there. With those days they drive around there with tanks ;) And we go to the 101 Airbornemuseum (http://www.101airbornemuseumbastogne.com/) For the second year we have then a little catch up with Helen Patton ;)

Lol yes we have :P Think it's easier for us in western Europe to travel to that kind of things. Bastogne is only a 3 hour drive from where I live. Normandy only 7. For you as an American it was a "far away war" both of the times

I have learned more on my own about both wars than I learned in school. I still don't know as much as I'd like about WW1. Did you ever see World War 1 in Colour ? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0481303/?ref_=nm_flmg_slf_103 I watched several episodes but fell asleep during some. It was narrated by Kenneth Branagh and the sound levels didn't vary a lot so it was soothing to sleep to.

I know what you mean. Here in the Netherlands aren't teached about WW1 because we where neutrale. We had a bit of WW2 in highschool, but only the basics about Anne Frank, D-Day and Auswitsch. I think I learned the most about it the last 15 years when I met my husband. The interest always was there (the youngest brother from my grandmother was with the resistence and died because of the war). But my husband also had the interest much more, so with him I visit all those places.

And no didn't see WW1 in color, will look it up :)

Off again for now. Will talk to you later

I love the new line too. It is supposed to be hot here to but we have air conditioners so that helps a lot. It must be horrid with just a fan.

It's way to warm here. In the morning it's still 26 degrees in the living room. Was to the UWV yesterday at the hottest part of the day, there they have airco so that was nice, but the trip that way and back home in the tram was hell. I'm glad it is a bit cooler today (they say it would be), Above the 25 degrees is not my thing

: I am all with you. Over 25 just makes you sweaty, etc. I love a bit of sun and warm enough to wear a dress or shorts, but I just can't deal with weather that is too hot :/

And yeah the tram must be bad with weather this hot :O
