: Yeah, a quiet at home Christmas and new Years eve. And my parents and sisters over on the 1 of Januari ^_^ And you?

Yes Rob had to work with new years again. You probably heard about the fire in Scheveningen? {He had to work from 31 dec at 20.00 untill 1 jan at 6 o clock in the morning , so not that long this time} Around 2 in the night he had to go to scheveningen and the other day 1 jan around 15.30 in the afternoon, he was ready there. So he had to work longer than he thought.

: Wow, that is a lot longer. And no.. I don't really follow the news.. hope nobody got seriously hurt :o He must have been tired after such a long shift.

You really need to look it up scheveningen vreugdevuur, then you see what happens. It was really awfull. Rob says it looked like there was war. And he was really tired. So he eat something when he got home, sleept only 3 hours and then we had dinner. And he went to bed early that night

Had relaxed days, First christmas day at Marcel's parents, second day with my mother. 31st at Marcels's parents again and the 1st visited my mother

It really was bad indeed, They are still busy with cleaning it. Rob is still working there. They need to clean the sand [from all the screws etc etc}

they need to do that everyyear. There is every year a fire like that. But now the wind was to hard and the wrong way. So there were little fire's everywhere.

It was even in our news! The reporter said it is irresponsible to build such extreme high wooden towers... It is not something we do in Belgium, so I have no idea what really happened. Was it just the wind?

Every year there are two of those bonfires. They are trying to beat eachother. And this year they where higher than the year before. But the wind indeed was the worst thing. Normally the wind is from land to sea and now it was other wise so all the things went into the village

If the wind was so bad, why did they not stop it or prohibit the wood from being burned? Or was it already burning when the wind started?
