I usually do. It overwhelms me how generous people are here on Subeta. I have the bestest friends here.

well that's wonderfull
I have to work on the 24th but I am off the 25th
if the flu does not get me before then
I am already in the middle of food preparations, since my 3 brothers (with their wifes) are co,ing as well as the last remaining brother of my hubby (two of his sinlings are already dead)
and the meat I'll be cooking is a typical german one "Sauerbraten" which has to lay in a mix of vinegar and spices for at least a week (and I need like 20 pound to make everyone happy)
family means 30 people and that just includes my family (mom, dad and my 4 siblings with partners and kids) and my hubby and his family (mom and on sibling remaining - but 3 nieces and nephews)

That's a llot of people. I have 20 here this weekend and will add about 7 more next weekend. Sauerbraten sounds delicious! I love German food. We're having spiral ham and all the trimmings. We did turkey and duck on Thanksgiving.

I also love turkey and duck...
BUT my father and my brothers demand their Sauerbraten at least twice a year. It is delicious, since it's sort of sour (well that's what sauer means in english - sour) and it goes with potato and sweet red cabbage that word looks so wrong
one of my sisters in law is vegetarian, but she can eat the cabbage and I'll do some mushrooms for her and another is vegan *which is sort of annoying, since she damands her own set of pots - which I can never use to do any normal cooking in and even a own dishwasher, so she does not get into contact with any animal things at all - but wears crocodile leather....)
I've just managed to find stuff for everyone.
My oldest brother hates Sauerbraten so he gets deer I love deer
So I am happy I am off - last year I had to work and that was NO fun!

Only some of the Forum Gift items are selling even at discount. Those that sell are a nice bonus still though.
Which word looks odd? Venison is the word for deer meat. Weird that your vegan demands extra dishes like someone doing kashrut. That's a lot of extra resources used for something that's not religious.
My mom would cook beef tongue with a sauce very much like sauerbraten sauce recipes. Her tenderizing sequence involved pressure boiling though. Up until now it had never occurred to me that this was a german thing even though, y'know, she is. Up to now the only thing I knew like this and where it was from was pilipino, adobo recipes are something like this. I feel silly.
I feel real bad now about fragging those fairies last night if I hadn't done that you would be done releasing the fairies so sorry

Make sure Laurie gets this its better than throat sprays prescribed and tastes better. Egyptian home remedy for sore throats and losing your voice, I figure I need to put it in comments sense its the season. The spice anise (for those in other countries it smells like licorice and using for baking or teas) just use a very full/heaping teaspoon of the spice anise in a pot of tea water. Let boil until dark yellow, strain or leave in the small pieces of the spice (they should settle to bottom of cup). Add sugar/diet sugar or no sugar what ever you like. Drink thorough out the day for a few days. You can even put it in a thermos and take to work or play. For those in the states, the star shape anise isnt as good as the seeds. Best anise is at any middle eastern store, maybe call around first save yourself some time.
I am very sleepy, just flew back from Washington, DC to my home. I didnt sleep last night, no clue why. Slept some on the flights back, but we know that isnt the best. Washington DC/Arlington, VA are colder than a well digger's hinny ( , LOL).
How many do you need? I have a handful I will send you now.
