♦ ROUND ONE:
Hmmm... I guess what probably makes me feel nostalgic is reading/touching/holding/smelling old books. I just love them so much. My grandfather gave me a few of his books from when he was a kid (a couple of Hardy's boys, some The Saint books, and a couple books by Gene Stratton-Porter), and they remind me of him. That got me started on a collection, and now I have loads and loads of antique books. :)
♦ ROUND TWO:
...It was a perfect Christmas day. The young woman woke early, though not too early, excited at the prospect of digging through the colorful packages underneath their tree. The tree gleamed and glimmered from the four strands of lights she and her husband had carefully wound a round it, reflecting off of the glistening decorations and the many glass icicles that practically dripped from the tree. She turned on the coffee maker and made two lovely mint mochas, complete with whipped cream and broken bits of candy canes on top. As she worked, their lovely cats wound around her ankles. While she made the coffees, her husband lit a warm, crackling fire in the fireplace in the living room. When they were finally finished, she and her husband settled in on the couch with the first few gifts. They opened them carefully, setting the beautiful paper off to the side for the next year's use. As they opened gifts, the aroma of caramel rolls filled the room, as the rolls she'd prepared the night before began to bake. Soon, they were ready, and the couple enjoyed the sweet flavor alongside the last of their coffee. They spent the rest of the day reading bits from new books, snuggling into new sweaters, and enjoying their other gifts in the warm, quiet home, safe from the cold and the icy -- though beautiful -- snow outside their window.
♦ ROUND THREE:
Hmmm... I love just picking random places and exploring, so I don't really have a bucket list of specific places... When I saw this question, though, I wandered through some pics I've saved on pinterest, and I think maybe the Erawan Museum is a place we would go if there was nothing (money, time, etc.) preventing us. The place looks really spectacular, and I think both my husband and I would really enjoy it. It's a museum in Thailand with amazing architecture and such inside, and beautiful gardens and sculptures outside...
♦ ROUND FOUR:
At the moment, I'd have to say what is sticking with me the most is the book series I'm currently translating. It's a series called "The Chronicles of Galadria", and it is about a boy who's always wanted to travel to another world like in a fantasy/adventure book. Then, one day, he gets pulled into the world of Galadria, where he has to become a hero, all while learning what this new world is like, and trying to decide exactly how he fits in there. I guess some different passages hold a lot of meaning for me, because he asks a lot of the same questions I do. I'm an American who has married a Swiss man, and so I expect to spend the rest of my life living here in Switzerland... The fact of the matter is, I'm not Swiss, and I never will be, and their culture is very different from my own. So when Glaide contemplates stuff about Galadria and his new life there... Let's just say, I understand, and it makes me think, and it's good. :O
